Texas Chainsaw: The Begining

I am sure a lot of you had to see this, and now we can talk about it

Loved the original, really enjoyed the 2nd, and really enjoyed the remake

I am not to picky when it comes to movies though

This new one I thought was pretty damn good. Good character development and a good story for the prequel. The violence was great, some good blood shed.

whatcha guys think?

makemebad 10-06-2006 10:11 PM

"beginning"

excuse my error

makemebad 10-08-2006 09:28 AM

has no one went to see this?!

JP500 10-08-2006 10:33 AM

I was planning on seeing it this weekend, but it looks like it will have to be next week.

Nikkif8 10-08-2006 01:01 PM

I Saw it I thought it was good. I already posted about it in general and in the upcoming thread

Prelude95Si 10-08-2006 02:26 PM

I thought it was good, different, and really really gorey.
I liked the different ending with no one getting away, it was a nice change but I should have expected it b/c if anyone got away then we wouldn't have the remake.

I have a question for anyone who sees this movie and doesn't like it.

WHAT WERE YOU EXPECTING OR WANTING?

Its a slasher movie, theres not much to those movies. Also I beleive its the director of the Beginning who is signed-up to direct the Friday the 13th Remake. So taste of things to come.

My money's worth and something clever. And it certainly did not deliver.

SKOOFx 10-09-2006 06:37 AM

I thought it was amazing.
What more could anyone seriously ask for?

Character development - PERFECT

GORE - PERFECT

CG - NONE

"JUMP" SCARES - Plenty, but in good taste/timing

Answers to Questions created in the 2003 - Yes

Screwed with the original background story? - Not really

Overal it was brilliantly done.
The begining scene had me VERY worried, but i was wrong.

Definitely. I'm going to see this film tomorrow night. Came here to see what you guys were saying about it. I had no idea someone was gonna spill the beans.

Miss Olivia 10-10-2006 09:51 AM

I thought it was retarded. The story sucked, the characters sucked, and it was basically a rehash of everything they've made before.
Don't waste your money.

psycho_butthead 10-10-2006 04:43 PM

i want to go see this movie. what does everyone think of it? i hear from my friend amber that its good, of course she thinks cabin fever is the best horror movie ever so i cant depend on her.

Check post #47, I wasn't the first to spoil anything. Besides, you should have seen it coming, if anyone got away there wouldn't be the prequal.

And even if that were the case, it's a courtious thing to do here. It doesn't take much, and it's just a good thing to do.

But it's OK, I'm over it, don't worry, 'aight? :)

I was refering to the link in the Upcoming Horror movies forum. Your right it is a courtious thing, I usually do when its a fairly new movie. I guess I just thought that since it was in the modern section that people posting here would have seen the movie already.
My mistake.

alkytrio666 10-11-2006 03:00 PM

No problem. No hard feelings, eh?

The_Return 10-11-2006 03:12 PM

Despite all the bad reviews its getting from you guys, I might gather up a group and try to see it this weekend...

Elvis_Christ 10-11-2006 03:17 PM

I wonder when its out over here

I'll definatley go check it out. Can't be any worse than The Next Generation.

I personally thing its worth seeing.

Chainsaw Guy 10-11-2006 07:00 PM

I think that the movie is worth your money to go see this movie any question you had about the remake were answered thoroughly

(potential spoilers ahead)

The whole story about how leather face starts making masks and why he picks up the chainsaw and what started them on eating meat is fantastic. Also how the sheriff starts every thing with the family. At the end though i thought that sop was gonna be sheriff hoyt.

(end spoilers)

although i did find some continuity errors in the movie

orangestar 10-12-2006 01:06 PM

I have a very conflicted opinion on this

1 - This was the first movie I have ever considered walking out in the middle of. It was SO predictable, and pointless, and had no story or character development. It was just "look at what gorey shit we're gonna show you next!" There were more pointless characters than useful ones, and there were wah-ay-ay to many jump scares.

2 - The gore was amazingly perfect. I've never seen anything like it.

So half of me wants to buy it, and the other half wants to go back in time and not waste my money.

Did you really expect an amazing revelation in the horror genre to come from a prequel though? It did exactly what TCM only because it was playing off a series of movies there was really nothing THAT original it could have brought to the table. I don't know, I saw what I expected... a decent slasher, had some fun.

Just did...got to say I agree...this was one gripping movie IMO. My wife and I both saw it, she looked away a time or two...I cannot understand all the negative reviews....I honestly thought this movie was well written, told a horrific story, flowed from beginning to end. People who say its a decent slasher flick must've been high, or really just didn't watch the movie. One said he almost left half way during the film...I just don't get that...I'm 34, seen alot of things, and alot of movies...this movie actually left me a little unnerved and feeling a little more vulnerable. The effects were top notch, the violence was very hard hitting and in your face...I thought the actors portrayed their situations very well...this is not better than the remake of the original, but its much more of a HORROR film...very disturbing picture...and really opens up a bit of history on the family. Someone said it was more of a history of "the sheriff"...not true...I am wondering if some of the critics here really saw the movie...and if they did, did they watch the movie. I highly recommend it for horror value, good effects, and being a well written and acted film...I do not recommend this film to anyone who has nightmares after movies :) this one will give you plenty.

no story?

texas chainsaw massacre has always been the same, captured by the crazies at a ranch house....what more is there going to be?

and yeah there was more of a story, it gave some meaning behind the story of the remake...so I do not know what you are talking about there

and there is some character development, so I disagree with you there to

Zombie1 10-16-2006 03:37 PM

I thought it was pretty good, better than what I thought it was, I went in with low epxectations, but I thought it was rather decent.

AmericanManiac 10-17-2006 07:06 PM

I have seen this movie twice. I went on opening night and I just got back from it again, I have some questions that leave me in the dark if anyone could help.
SPOILERS (MAYBE)

My first question Happens in the opening scene when the mother is sitting there at the factory asking her boss if she could "Take a bathroom break" I think I may have the answer but i'm not sure, if i'm wrong please correct me. I take it that she was an alcoholic and she gave "Thomas" the disease and that is why his face is all fucked. I get this conclusion from her boss kneeling over her and saying "Thats what you get for drinking on the job." But who's the father ????? That is my question.
Second question why did only the biker chick go after them in the jeep for a Robbery and not her B/F ?
Another it's not really a question it's about the Biker (Beacher from "OZ") Don't you think a bad ass biker would go in shootin and asking questions later ?
I overall really liked the film I thought it had a decent story, nice character development (More realistic I think, except if I was the dark haired girl and I just watched my spouse get brutally dismembered like that right over top of me I wouldn't of went and tried to save my other friend I woulda got the fuck out of dodge. I'm sure everyone else probley would of too.) and the GORE oh man F'n SWEET!!!!

End Possible SPOILERS

Does anyone know the exact words of the Speach Sheriff Hoyt gave at the dinner table at the end ? Thanks

PhilnEdee 10-18-2006 12:58 PM

+++++SPOLIER+++++++++++++++++++

Not sure, but my take:
I don't think he answers her, he just looks at her and before he answers she goes into whatever it is she goes into...
The alcohol, the exposure to all the meat, blood, skin, etc...no telling...just says its unknown facial skin degenerative disease...

Biker chic prob could've handled it just fine had it not been for the extra party showing up...might have been proving herself to the gang...who knows...

not gonna answer the others...can't say what I'd do, fight or flee, in a situation like that.

AmericanManiac 10-18-2006 01:03 PM

I would probley fight my way UNTILL I seen my spouse get it that way, (But then again i'm a guy so If that would happen all my anger would probley come out and I would attack that mother f'er who killed her. But if I was a woman I would probley end up running for my life :D ) What do you ladies think you would do if you seen your spouse get murdered in way like that right above you ?

I agree. I don't know why so many people think it was horrible. What did you really expect. I thought it was far better than the remake, especially in the gore Dept. It's obvious what is going to happen but still fun to watch that's the point right?

***Possible Spoiler*****

I liked how they showed the Sheriff cut that guys damn legs off( I wondered why he was stuck in a wheel chair), that was wack. And all the info leading up to how they got that way.
The only shit that got lame for me but I didn't care was the car reck was a bit much, and the kid who got kicked in the back and was stuck in a bear trap for a while then ran around and all this.
All in all that's the fun of these movies!!

**SPolier done****

I still think it was a great flick!

sadman 10-27-2006 06:29 AM

I watched it. It isnt as bad as it looks. It has very tense parts and explains some questions you were asking and bassically does what it says. Tell you how it began. Its cool!

I enjoyed it but I would seeing as (I know you will hate me for this) I preffered the remake as I thought it was more realistic, I don't care if it was original. The original just didn't add up to me. Some of the things in it were just stupid like teh grandad and stuff.

But I guess you guys loved it and thought the remake was a discrace or summit. But anyway back on topic. I recommend it. I love it. The intro is great andof course it has to include the eerie high pitch camera flash noises :)

Windowlicker 10-30-2006 07:24 AM

i think it sounds really really good
everyone seems to go on about the gore being so amazing
god, i want to see this film sooooooo bad
