Halloween Movie Line-Up

Now that its October its time to start planning on what movies (horror or horror related) you plan to watch over the month, like myself, or the movie maraton on Halloween night.

Sorry if theres already a thread started on this.

Here is my list in particular order:
1) Bram Stoker's Dracula
2) Dracula: Dead and Loving It
3) Freddy VS. Jason
4) Ghostbusters (I&II)
5) Scream (I-III)
6) Silent Hill
7) Sleepy Hollow
8) Van Helsing

My friend will probably bring Halloween over and I may rent a few horror movies I haven't seen yet, Hills have eyes, the Fog, Venom, ect...

VampiricClown 10-01-2006 01:31 PM

If you rent The Fog, make sure it's the old one. The new one was the most boring shit I've ever seen.

It was straight-to-video, with a lot of low-key or unknown actors.

I love the list, although might I suggest replacing Bram Stokers Dracula (i'm guessing you are talking about Francis Coppolas movie). as a fan of the book I was excited about the movie, however after seeing it, I was let down. it pales in comparison to the book, as well he added some adjustments to the end that I found rather disappointing. sadly in my mind though its the only decent dracula movie released with the exception of Nosferatu

Nothing feels quite as "halloweeny" to me as Sleepy Hollow.

It's got witches, blood, the undead, rolling heads plus Christopher Lee & Johnny Depp:D

Rabid Child 10-05-2006 04:10 PM

You Mean Christopher Walken

I agree, both the movie and the original legend. I mean, its a true American Halloween story.

AND Johnny Depp and Christopher Lee. Great cast, great movie. Should watch it soon myself.

Him too, but Christopher Lee is in the NYC opening sequence and looks terrifying in a powdered wig.

crabapple 10-05-2006 10:13 PM

I remember loving Lee's cameo in the film. I hadn't seen Lee in a theatrical release since I think 1979...so I was like, "Okay, this is worth the price of admission already and everything else is gravy!"

I did like Sleepy Hollow quite a bit. Very creative mutation of the original story and there are some really fine special effects.

heebiejeebies 10-07-2006 07:16 AM

Because I have way too much time on my hands, I do theme nights.

Rob Zombie Night = House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects

Dee Wallace Stone Night = Cujo, The Howling, and The Hills Have Eyes

Original vs. Remake Night = When a Stranger Calls, The Fog, (insert any of what seems like a laundry list of remakes here)

US vs. Asian Night = The Ring vs. Ringu and The Grudge vs. Ju-on

Mutant/Cannibal Night = Wrong Turn and both The Hills Have Eyes

Masked Mayhem Night = Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Scream

I think you get the point. Like I said, I have quite possibly the most pathetic life imaginable.:D

im' slowly weening my nephew into the horror genres, he is only 5, but since he was 3 we have made it a tradition to pull out nightmare before x-mas for the whole month of october and that becomes our monthly movie, he loves it! so that in my mind is always great on to have on the list.

Personaly I've always had a hard time placing this movie. It has Halloween themes and Chrsitmas themes plus it came out during the holiday season when it was in theaters. I guess a person could choose to watch it either way.

chalkster 10-11-2006 05:55 PM

My Fifth Annual Halloween Horror Movie Marathon will include Isle of the Dead (Lewton/Robson, 1945), Spook Louder (Three Stooges short, 1943), and My Bloody Valentine (1981). I'm really looking forward to it!

swiss tony 10-12-2006 05:59 AM

i will probably try and use halloween as an excuse to catch up on all the horrors i've missed. the hills have eyes, saw2, the fog and devils rejects. i will also watch some classics like friday 13th, halloween and anything edgar allen poe.

The Mothman 10-12-2006 06:50 AM
