The point is to say what your favorite modern remake of an older film is, not to just name a movie you enjoy.

The Ring

Absolutely.

The Maltese Falcon

Ungrateful Pig 09-09-2006 12:12 PM

'The Fly' (1986) is my all-time favourite movie.

Good taste, a very well made remake.

Elvis_Christ 09-10-2006 09:20 PM

The Thing

The Fly

Hills Have Eyes - I wasn't a fan of the original but loved the remake.

Peter Jackson's King Kong however was a complete piece of shit. The Titanic of monster flicks :)

The Magnificent Seven

swiss tony 10-12-2006 04:30 AM

does the l.o.t.r. count as a remake? probably just the first movie and first half of the second. i suppose it isn't hard to top a camp, psychadelic, hippy cartoon from the seventies. also, is it sad i went to see t.c.m. twice in the cinema?

glm 10-12-2006 05:47 PM

And the Fog was cool.

Geddy 10-13-2006 09:00 PM

The Fog remake was the most boring movie I've seen.

THE THING def...and see the original...when that lady comes into the room with that pie...all those "soldiers" there...she says..."Anyone want a piece of this?"...oh that was priceless for BnW cinema.
His name leaves me "Arnes"? maybe...the Sheriff from Gunsmoke TV? he plays the original monster.

Amen...told some history that made you just want to watch the 1st one again..no chills, bumps etc...I kept expecting Tom Welling to use his Superman powers in the remake :)

Got to say I really like the remake of the Am. Horror (Ryan Reynolds was great).."What the hell is the matter with you people?!"

and TCM remake.

Dee Hart 10-15-2006 10:09 AM

Horror: The Thing

Non horror, I would have to go with Imitation of Life, or Fistful of Dollars.

Roderick Usher 10-15-2006 01:10 PM

Scarface (1983)
