Verbally Abusive Monsters

We all know how awful it is when monsters attack us. But occasionally there is a monster that crosses another line and becomes verbally abusive before attacking. This is literally adding insult to injury and it is a horrible thing to do to someone.

A good example can be seen here in this excerpt from Marvel Comics' "BEWARE!" #1 from 1973. It shows a werewolf being very rude and insulting when disturbed in the middle of its poetry-reading session. The werewolf says "You Englishmen are all alike" and calls the hunter a "fool" and a "cad" and a "little man."

"Shocking"is the only word for it.

What do you expect ? The Englishman called him a STUPID werewolf.

yourlastmistake 08-27-2006 07:40 AM

Not to mention a COWARD.

crabapple 08-27-2006 07:43 AM

Yeah, but that was still rude of the werewolf. He's mean to call the hunter a "little man."

yeah, i know that if someone interrupted me while i was reading (and i do that a lot) i would do more than yell at the person who did it. especially if they're pointing gun at me. i think the werewolf was pretty sensible about the whole thing.

Everyone sides with the monster??!?!??!

What awful people.

Maybe so but I guess its better than the alternative, which would be ripping his arse to shreds.

Well,to be fair...the hunter IS bothering him.
I mean would werewolfguy have gotten all snippy if he was allowed to finish something he probably worked very hard at?
I mean to hold the pen alone....

Yeeaaaahhh, I ....guess you're right.

The hunter was bothering him.

But that's still rude of the werewolf though

Okay, maybe it's not.

You have a point.
Just because someone is rude doesn't mean you should be rude back, right?

I am so glad we have comics that show us how to be ethical.
And of course good people like crabapple to expound on such mysteries.

At least it's not as bad as that asshole werewolf in the box office smash success "Cursed". That werewolf actually flipped Christina Ricci the bird. And NOBODY flips Christina Ricci the bird...

Poor werewolf being stereotyped by the nasty Englishman.
He should have sconed him to death.

alkytrio666 08-27-2006 09:53 AM

The verbally abusive monsters can be fun, but they tend to lose a little scarability.

ex.

Chucky

Freddy Krueger

Leprechaun

crabapple 08-27-2006 01:10 PM

Well anyway. If we read ahead a little bit, we find that even though the hunter was kind of a bastard, it was really the werewolf who had the upper hand the whole time.......turns out he just wanted to aggravate the hunter!

What a horrible beast this werewolf is.

Yay!!!

I will always side with the monster. Even if it's of my own demise. The monster will always have the right. We usually as humans, disturb their peace for our own selfish reasons as shown in this comic strip.
