Okay...So, some of my friends have been complaining that a hacker was posting spam bulletins with their names...Stuff for ringtones, and whatever...AND, screwing up their profiles...AND...Sending fake messages and comments to the people on their friends' list

Well...I didn't pay much attention to it...Cuz...Well...It didn't happen to me :p

Actually...It just hadn't happened YET...


So...Anyway...I just posted this bulletin:

I feel so privileged...I mean, of ALL the people on MySpace, why choose ME?...

Nothing like this has ever happened to me before...It's kinda weird...

But...Yeah...I have NOTHING to do with 'Ringtones' or whatever else they come up with...Hell, I don't even own a cell phone *rolls eyes*


Anyway...The last thing I remember was I got a friend request from a guy named 'Jordan"...I checked the profile to see who it was, cuz it was vague...Actually, I don't even know if it was really a guy...There's no location, no age, no real info on the page...It just has a picture of some sliced lemons or limes or something, and a shitload of information about computer tech crap that I know nothing about...Odd, I was thinking to myself at the time "Damn, this guy seems like a hacker or something"...lol....Kinda funny, huh?....

Well, Okay...Not so funny anymore...

Anyway...I don't know if that had anything to do with it...BUT...Just a little 'heads up' in case the rest of you see (or have seen) anything like that...Be aware...Could just be one hell of a strange coincidence, but ya never know...

Welll I had a moment of stupid curiousity and clicked on the link. But then I don't do MySpace, so I don't have a profile. So, should be alright, hopefully. :eek: :)

I clicked it from pure curiosity...Maybe because I'm an idiot, I don't know. But you're right. It looks nothing like a myspace page. It's just a weird ass page. Not sure that it looks like it could be a hacker page though.

I would also suggest checking pages like these out. They never leave comments and only post bulletins, and the bulletins are either links to other websites or promotions. They also only have one picture in their profile. I'm deleting these right now, but for those of you who are brave enough, click this link so you'll understand that this is no ordinary profile:

Okay...To be serious for a second...I know most of you just think that all of this is silliness, I mean, it's just a goofy profile page on the internet, right?...So, why should you care?...Well, I suppose if the password you use at MySpace is ONLY used at MySpace, and you aren't promoting a business, or your band, then it probably isn't really any big deal, just a minor irritation that can be fixed...BUT...If you use the same password for banking, or you ARE promoting something important (your business, band, whatever)...It could be VERY important...

Here's an update (bulletin posted by Seri this morning) :

EVERYONE READ AND REPOST! PROTECT YOUR PAGE FROM HACKERS!!!!

There has not been a power outage at MySpace Data Centers (they are avoiding telling us the truth)... but there may indeed be some database problems because MySpace is being Hacked hardcore.

I've been seeing a lot of bulletins supposedly posted by my friends that I KNOW my friends would not send.. and those of you who have had it happen to your account know what I mean.

IF YOU SEE a bulletin from a friend that says "Check out this link" or "Look at this video" anything like that... BE CAREFUL. Your friend might not have sent it. If you click on the link in the bulletin and a page comes up that looks like the MySpace login screen. Don't assume that "Oh crap.. I guess I have to log in again". Look up at the address in the address field at the top of your browser (you know.. where you type them in). If it does not say MySpace.com or bulletin.myspace.com then DO NOT put in your email login and password.

What is happening is this... a hacker has mirrored the MySpace login page by duplicating it in every detail... which means he has Web design skills. Then he/she hosts it on a fake server somewhere... maybe at home... or stealing space from one somewhere else. When you enter in your login and password again.. it is being saved straight to the hacker's database or server. All they have to do is get a few real users (your friends) info... and then it starts a chain reaction.

Many of you use your same email and password info on other sites.. maybe even for online banking.... if you think you have accidentally logged into one of the fake MySpace pages... go change your password everyhwere you use it... !

If you don't believe me.. ask some of your friends that you thought were sending out stupid bulletins with links to porno sites or links to things that weren't even there... and I'll bet they will set you straight.

Also.. here is an article I found today after I got pissed that the site was down again. I Googled "MySpace" and "Hacked" and found this from 12 days ago.
