Greatest Voice Ever?

What's the greatest voice you have ever heard? It doesn't have to be a famous singer, perhaps just someone you heard talking somewhere or something.

Personally I think that Leontyne Price (Opera legend) she has the greatest voice I have ever heard; vocal colours are amazing, and her phrasing is beyond reality. Whenever I hear her voice, I rise above reality.

And you?

It's a tie between Vincent Price and James Earl Jones. To hear Price recite Poe gives me chills. I could sit and listen to James Earl Jones read the phone book and not be bored!

knife_fight 08-01-2006 05:35 AM

Thurl Ravenscroft

Good call, stubborn!! I forgot about him!

crabapple 08-01-2006 07:07 AM

Paul Frees I have always liked for his voiceovers, Ken Nordine the same, and on the very relaxing, pretty side, Barbara Gaskin, whose voice adds something special to any song.

orangestar 08-01-2006 07:41 AM

James Earl Jones for sure.

tarcher80 08-01-2006 07:55 AM

being into music as much as i am i have to go w/ a singer: jeff buckley

Vodstok 08-01-2006 08:03 AM

Hmmm.. Tie between Katherine Mcfee and Kelly Pickler.

before you all shoot, i am kidding...

For voice talent...

He: Lane Staley. Amazing power and control. real shame, and a far bigger loss of talent than Kurt Cobain....

She: Shoot me, but either Celine Dion or Whitney Houston, just in terms of sheer control

As voice actors go, i would have to say a 3 way tie between Dan Castelenetta, Harry Shearer and Hank Azaria. I love the simpsons more than i love most things.

Christopher Guest is a good one along those lines too, even though he is in a lot of movies, he can do a lot of different voices effectively.

billy zane in demon night, his voice is awesome in that movie!

singer wise at this point in time it's a girl named cassie!

I still have a hard time believing he is gone, even though it has been almost a decade.

The Mothman 08-01-2006 09:04 AM

I'd have to say Glenn Danzig

Singing. Hmmmm - maybe Claudio from Coheed and Cambria. Matt Bellamy from Muse is pretty impressive live. Ah I dunno.

Speaking? It's gotta be Bjork. I love listening to her talk.

Miss Olivia 08-01-2006 11:36 AM

I like watching Bjork beat up reporters.

Vodstok 08-01-2006 11:39 AM

What sound did her purse make when it hit that lady in the head?

"Bjork"

:D

Miss Olivia 08-01-2006 11:42 AM

LOL....sweet little Icelander my ass. It's a shame she wasn't wearing the swan dress while she did it....she could have gotten a spot on When Animals Attack.
