Dying too young
Not sure what inspired me to look this up. But I brought out my high school yearbook when I was a Senior. We had 7 kids die that year. 5 were from deadly car accidents, one of them I saw. Two were from trying to save other classmates from drowning. The classmates they saved lived, they did not. I don't even know why I think of this sometimes, but it always makes me cry when I do. Life is just so fucking weird.

"Those who fear death, are afraid of living."
We are all going to die sometime, yes, some are more unfortunate than others, but there is no point in contemplating about life's tragedies. If you're afraid of dying, you're also afraid of living. I know, it's one big cliché, but it's true nonetheless. |
2 people died trying to save someone else from drowning???? 2????
I would have guessed the odds of 2 people from 1 graduating class dying in that particular manner to be astronomical. Only 1 guy from my high school class has died so far and that was a couple years after graduation from a known heart issue he had. My graduating class was of about 500. I have known more than my fair share of people who committed suicide though... 1 jumper, 1 shooter, 2 hangers, 1 car exhaust, and 1 that actually laid himself in front of an oncoming train! |
No matter how hard we try....In the end, we all lose.

Says who? Some people got it made after they die! I hear those terrorists are greeted at the pearly gates by a harem of virgins. |
My childhood best friend died last month. He was 19. It wasn't exactly unexpected, but it's never really expected, is it?
Only one person from my graduating class has died. Drug overdose, or so the rumor says. They never really gave us details. |
my little brother is 17 and was born with prune -belly syndrome, he is mentally fine but that means he was born with his abdominal muscles deteriated sp? anyway he wasn't suppose to live to b 2, but by some miracle he made this far, the doctors at the children's hospital said it was the one of the worst cases they have ever seen. well my whole point of this story is he only has one kidney b/c they had to remove the other one b/c it failed, the doctors also said that it would fail, well right here with in the past couple of months he has been in and out of th hospital. it's happening and all i want to do is cry, i know that is not the thing to do though cause i have to b strong 4 my mom, and i will! we will be going to birmingham children's hospital aug 7, hopefully to be tested to see if i am a compatable donor. i hope so, sorry for the depressing story i seen this thread and had to get it out !

I've only known two people my age (when I was in my 20s) who died: one was a car accident, the other a suicide. They were both people I was stationed with when I was in the Air Force. |
I close myyyy eyyess...only for a moment and the moment's gone
All mmyyy dreeammss....pass before my eyes a curiosity Duusst in the wind All we are iss dust in the wiiindd.....sniff....sniff.... Death sucks. My friends father just accidentally killed himself with carbon monoxide poisoning at the bottom of a gold mine the other day. He was running a generator down there and it built up on him. His wife went down to pull him out and she died too. So did their two dogs. Now my friend is a complete basket case, and I can't say I blame her one bit. Her father was her only real family. It's a hard old world, for sure. Better to live all that you can, while you can. |

A terrorist, having given his life gloriously in the cause by strapping dynamite to himself and blowing up an airport terminal, was approaching the pearly gates. As he entered heaven, he was set upon and beaten down by a crowd of men wearing cravats and white powdered wigs. "Wait a minute!" he screamed. "Where is my my forty virgins?" "You guys should pay closer attention to the wording" said one of the men. "It's not VIRGINS, it's VIRGINIANS."

My mom's favorite song was Clair de lune, so I made sure it was played at her funeral last winter. I had a CD with it on (Ocean's Eleven soundtrack), so I played it for her when she was in the hospital with cancer. At her funeral, we had it play at the end when we rolled her out of the church and everyone followed behind. I hope she liked it. Here it is if anyone is interested. http://youtube.com/watch?v=LlvUepMa31o |

Sorry all, I didn't mean this to be a depressing thread, I meant it as more of a respect for those that are no longer with us physically and those that we miss. |

I can't imagine what's going to happen to me when my parents go. We don't get along, and I'm fully aware that when they go it's probably going to eat me up, because no reconciliation was possible. I'm sorry you lost your mom.

my mom is all i literally have so once she's gone i'm compleately on my own. this thought bothers me from time to time. most people in my family die from cancer. i'm so not looking forward having to go through that again with a faimly member

oh no..its not a morbid thread..
Actually it is good to discuss stuff like this. My family and i do this all the time..each n every one of us discuss how we want our funerals to be held.. em just in a morbid state of mind right now. I remember when i was going to college n one of my friends was a bit of a show off.. Picture this...over head bridge...train runs under every hour or so..to pick up. Dumb ass freind trying to impress new girl at school..jumps off bridge as train is slowing down to land on the roof of the carriage... foot misses roof of carriage all together n freind slips between the carriages n is dragged down under the wheels.. blood n guts everywhere. Very frightening experience for all of us to see.. I was the only one telling him not to be a fool..the rest were egging him on. 'shakes her head'..what a waste of life' |
Wow, that must have been awful. I think about some of the stupid things I used to do as a kid and it's a wonder I'm still alive. I'm much more careful now, I have that sense of mortality that most of us don't have when we're younger.
But then cancer can sneak up and smack you in the back of the head and you're gone in 6 weeks, so who knows. Try to live a life that you wouldn't look back at with regret, well, not too much anyway, we're all bound to have regrets, but ya gotta try to learn from your mistakes and try to be what you consider to be a good person. |
Yeah, it's weird how you're reckless one day and then the next you wake up suddenly with the knowledge that one day it's all going to end. I suppose you call it growing up.
