In the past few years I've been very partial to "The Blob"--50's classic and a B movie, good story, nice effects. Heck, the damn thing was made out of silicone most of the time, and silicone being a new invention was not a popular material for monsters. So we could call it technically groundbreaking as well.

just a few off the top of my head:

Motel Hell
Mountaintop Motel Massacre
the Night Evelyn Came out of the Grave
Don't Look in the Basement
2,000 Maniacs
Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things

there's a bunch more, but it's early and I can't think of any other ones I really like a lot. it also depends on what you qualify as "B-Horror"

Yeah, "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things" is on my list too. It's definitely B-grade (made with pocket change, practically) and it sure does work.

Curtis Harrington's "Ruby" is also a big fave.....it doesn't make a lot of sense--okay, it doesn't really make any sense, but it has some great atmosphere and some good actors too (Piper Laurie, Stuart Whitman, Roger Davis). Creepy ghost revenge movie with some nice gory moments.

ManchestrMorgue 07-29-2006 09:33 PM

The Blob has been a favourite of mine ever since I was a child.

Others on my list:

Octaman
The Incredible 2 Headed Transplant
The Thing with 2 Heads
Zoltan, Hound of Dracula

and many, many others.
