Grind House
Anyone looking forward to this baby?
|
No
|
Nope, can't say that I am.
SORRY! ;_; |
Why not? Looks pretty kickass IMO.
Tarantino + Rodriguez doing two short horror films, linked together by mock trailers and stuff? I dont see why anyone WOULDNT be excited:D |

Seriously I don't know why the people said no above People complain about Hollywood not coming up with horror that are original. They also complain about them being remakes or sequels. Well here you go.... Grindhouse is it! |
I can't wait, good bloody fun I hope.
|
I missed something what is this movie even about?

Tarantino is doing a slasher flick, with Kurt Russel playing the killer (named Stuntman Mike) Im not sure the name of Rodriguez's short, but it's supposedly going to be a zombie type thing. In between the two films, they're going to have fake trailers and ad's for fake stuff...the whole thing sounds really cool. |
skeptical, but excited.
|
I'm thinking I'll see it at the theater, but I can't help but noting Micky Rourke dropping out and being replaced by Kurt Russell won't somehow affect Tarantino's segment negatively(I hope I'm wrong).

I'm looking forward to it! It was filmed here in Austin, where I live, and I can't wait to see it. Tarantino and Rodriguez never cease to amaze me!
It'll also be really cool to see "Grind House" because Cathy Baron, who is one of the leads in "Severed Lives", as a scantily clad pedestrian who gets spanked by a female police officer...loads of fun. |

It's not two SHORT horror movies, is it? I heard both were 90 minutes in length, and linked by fake trailers - pushing the runtime somewhere just above 3 hours. Quentin comfirmed this in a report I read a while back (3 months or more), with the following statement being along the lines of "Two feature-length movies. Audiences will be getting their moneys worth."
Personally, I can't believe anyone who claims to be a horror fan - let alone fan of film in general - isn't looking forward to this. If there were ever a person who could express their love of cinema, it would be Quentin Tarintino, the high school drop-out. I don't think anyone could call him a hack. I've yet to see another director who utilizes film, soundtrack and script as well as he does. His features just ooze style, and this is no exception. |
Rev. Rod gives that one an Amen Brother!
And yeah both scripts logged in at over 100 pages, so we're looking at an honest-to-god double feature here. May cost 'em at he box office (running time dictates you can only screen half as often as most horror films) but they're setting the bar pretty high on the cool scale.:D Can't fucking wait. |
Any idea on the release date?
I know it's been pushed back a few times...was gunning for Easter weekend last I heared. As for my thoughts on the film, I think Rod nicely summed it up: Quote:

It looks kind of amusing to me. I'll probably see it because I saw Nicky Katt in the trailer, and he's the man.
|
Could someone please tell me what this movie is about and who is set to star in it etc...

Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino have teamed up to release an old-fashioned "grindhouse" double feature called GRINDHOUSE. Rodriguez' instalment is called PLANET TERROR and it's a zombie apocalypse story with Rose McGowan, Tom Savini, Rosario Dawson and a dozen others. Tarantino's is called DEATH PROOF and it stars Kurt Russell as a stuntman-by-day/killer-by-night who runs people over in his car that he has reinforced to make it death-proof - hence the title. In between the two films there will be phoney 70's style "grindhouse" movie trailers directed by Eli Roth and others. It should be the single most fun film of 2007 (with the possible exception of 300) |

This movie is looking better by the second, I really cannot wait. |
Yeah, I'm totally excited for this.
|
Cant Wait!
|
Exploitation Galore!
I'm truly fired up about this movie!!!! I love the old 70s gore fests, and I can think of no two better directors to play in that sub-sub-genre. Besides, the fake movie trailers could be as much fun as the two feature items!
|
im excited to see this. it looks effing awesome, and my girl Fergie is in it. and Rose McGowan.

One question for you guys. Danny Trejo is playing somebody named Machete and I noticed that he played a character named Machete in the Spy Kids movies. Haven't seen any of the Spy Kids films but is it possible that he's making a cameo as a character from a movie like Spy Kids? |

Quote:
Nope, he's been Manny, Vargas, Bob, Cucuy. El Jefe... on and on. Only other blade I see or remember is Razor Charlie/Eddie from the Dusk Till' Dawns. |
Yes, Machete was the character Danny Trejo played in the 3 Spy Kids movies and the "Machete" trailer is obviously an attempt to move a secondary character from a kids movie into a Mexpliotation lead character.
Brilliant |

That's too bad, it was pretty fucking tasty. In addition to fantstic looking footage from "Planet Terror", they show a phony trailer for "Machete" with Machete kicking ass intercut with him in a waterfall-fed lagoon with a topless chick on each arm.
FX had it pulled from YouTube on a copyright infringement charge. Best way to build hype, give 'em a taste and then take it away for a while. Smart marketing. |
