Candles

What's your favourite kind of candle/s? Do you buy candles just for light, or do you use them for other things such as relaxing?

I love candles with different kinds of odours; apple scent is the best, and it reminds me of summertime when the living is good. xD

Candles?

I love candles. I burn them for relaxation, but it's because the little flame and the wonderful smell are very relaxing to me. I agree, apple is really great. Amber is good too. I like a lot of them. When buy them, I love to smell them in the store and if that smell relaxes me, I buy it.

omg! I love those things. I have a couple of pumpkin flavored candles burning right now.

Pumpkin flavoured? xD I've never tried those before. Maybe I should give it a go then?

crabapple 07-21-2006 05:07 PM

Uh...do you like the smell of pumpkin pies baking?

alkytrio666 07-21-2006 05:10 PM

Cinnamon.

To be honest, the only pumpkins I've ever seen were all dried out -- we do not celebrate Halloween as obsessively here where I live.

I'd love to try them out though. I'll pick some up the next time I'm at the store.

So, Henry, what do you know?

horrorobsessed 07-21-2006 05:13 PM

i like candles because they are very closely related to fire. i love fire. they smell pretty nice too, i really like ones that smell like lavender.

monalisa 07-21-2006 05:15 PM

I have one that I bought recently, but haven't burned yet. It's Cinnamon Vanilla. The smell reminds me of cookies.

I got these black candles around Halloween time, they were called "Night Magic" and they were some really beautiful scent I couldn't identify...it smelled like fruits and flowers mixed together...it was...well, I tried to find more of these and they were all sold out :(

I like Carribean Fruit scented Yankee candles. Oh, and hazelnut, mandarin orange and coffee.

I collect candles and tarts. I love pumpkin, cinnamon, cake candles, anything that smells sweet. We have a candle store where i live and you can have candles made in anything you want.I think my favorite ones are jar candles, yankee is the best.My living room decor is americana, so i buy every candle that has anything to do with that.

This is a cool thread. Back in 1992 or thereabouts I met a fellow who got me interested in candles, he was some sort of lighting expert with these things. I was visiting his roommate to have a little movie festival, and this fellow had taken his room and lit it completely with candles, artistically placed.

I tend to think that I know a good thing when I see it. Well, when I saw this, something clicked, and I realized you could use these as multiple light sources and sort of sculpt with them. It had never occurred to me before; candles had always been those things you pull out during a blackout. Suddenly I felt I had been shown a new art form, the art of candle illumination.

Anyway, ever since then, I have been keen to use candles to light rooms for atmosphere, watching the subtle flickering glow is extremely relaxing and a scented candle is a good thing too.

I love candles that smell like pine trees, and peppermint, but I can usually only find them during Christmas time.
