Excrete on Scream, big up Shocker.

urgeok 07-11-2006 05:28 PM

i think Nightmare on Elm St. is his best film.

too bad the shitty sequels made a joke out of it because the 1st one was something else at the time of its release.

AUSTIN316426808 07-11-2006 05:34 PM

What I believe to be his best two are also my favorite two.

-The Last House on the Left
-A Nightmare on Elm Street

PR3SSUR3 07-11-2006 05:42 PM

Why would your favourite two be anything else than what you consider his best two?

urgeok 07-11-2006 05:53 PM

well ... sometimes you can have a personal favorite that you can see isnt the best film .. i have some like that .. it hits you on a personal level even though it isnt probably the directors best work ..

I really like that one too. Hoarce Pinker was a great character.

I'm gonna have to say Deadly Friend for the head exploding scene.

Basically what urge said.

An example would be...My favorite Nolan film is Batman Begins, but Memento is clearly his best.

Gotcha - that explains why even when faced with the renowned Deep Anus Injektor IV and Kraut und Jew: Dwarfenfuckt, I tend to go for Arnold Von Taup's simple but highly enjoyable Kreased Lady acht Pensionvaggina (1996) every time.

:)

These two+"People Under The Stairs" for me.

bwind22 07-12-2006 05:48 AM

1-Nightmare on Elm St.
2-Serpent and the Rainbow
3-People Under the Stairs
4-Scream
5-Hills Have Eyes
6-Last House on the Left
7-New Nightmare
8-Shocker
9-Scream 2
10-Scream 3
11-Cursed
12-Red Eye

That is the order I liked the ones that I have seen.

I can't believe no one mentioned Serpent & the Rainbow.

i enjoyed it - but never thought it was anywhere as inventive and effective as NOES

slasherman 07-12-2006 07:47 AM

Nightmare on Elm St.
Scream
Hills Have Eyes

..and Red Eye was kind of lame...even though the bad guy did and okey job

The_Return 07-12-2006 07:48 AM

Im not a big fan of Craven. NOES, HHE and Scream (to some extent) are great films, but most of his other work leaves me cold.

Has anyone seen Chiller? Easily one of the worst movies that Ive ever seen, surpassed only by crap like Jigsaw.

Posher778 07-12-2006 09:18 AM

Scream

NOES

Redeye

Miss Olivia 07-12-2006 09:31 AM

Redeye was REALLY good. Cillian Murphy is definitely one of my favorite new actors....he was perfect as the Scarecrow in Batman Begins.

The_Return 07-12-2006 09:33 AM

The only thing I didnt really like about Red Eye was the overly predictable and straight-forward plot. Murphy was great though.

makemebad 07-12-2006 09:43 AM

The Serpent and the Rainbow is a different one

It is a different side in horror movies.......getting buried alive would be the most awful thing to have happen

filmmaker2 07-12-2006 10:41 AM

New Nightmare. I thought it stood on its own, good movie, very scary and very satirical. Easily my fave.

Not a big fan of the Scream films.

tachii 07-12-2006 11:16 AM

love nightmare; actually wore the tee to work the other day; very surprised no one said anything. woman in bed with a manacing man looming over...i don't know seems pretty suggestive. perhaps a bit much for a department store.

serphent was great
also liked hills

spookychild 07-13-2006 04:07 AM

Well I'm happy to see I actually had some responses to this.

bwind22 07-13-2006 04:53 AM

Ugh! I thought Red Eye was one of the most retarded movies of the last few years. I don't recall any specifically (I've been trying to forget this film since I watched it) but I seem to remember a large number of plotholes. The acting was average, but the movie itself was just predictable and lame.

spookychild 07-13-2006 12:10 PM

Why so angry at Red Eye?

tachii 07-13-2006 12:32 PM

haven't even had a chance to see that one yet
now i'm nervous :(

heebiejeebies 07-13-2006 12:41 PM

You gotta give it up to NOES...if for no other reason than it gave us Freddy Kreuger!!!:)

But to be fair, I also have to give props to Scream (first one only though), Last House on the Left, and The Serpent and the Rainbow.

For the record, I really liked Red Eye. Yes, it was pretty predictable, but it was also pretty entertaining. (And having Cillian Murphy in it didn't hurt any either.)

Pythoness 07-13-2006 12:57 PM

I've got to go with a tie between NoES and Serpent and the Rainbow

Sick_As_Fuck 07-13-2006 09:35 PM

Scream is my al-time favorite scary movie. So, yeah.

spookychild 07-27-2006 04:39 AM

I'm Happy for all of the responses and I'm intersted to hear more

PR3SSUR3 07-27-2006 05:03 AM

Everything from Scream onwards has been self-indulgent shit.

I like The Last House on the Left, The Hills Have Eyes, Shocker, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Deadly Friend.

Not bad are The Serpent and the Rainbow (from what I can remember of it) and The People Under the Stairs.

spookychild 07-27-2006 10:51 AM

I can see what you mean about Scream, but you got to admit that it was a good way to make some money.

Vodstok 07-27-2006 11:31 AM

I like
People under the Stairs
The Serpent and the Rainbow
Scream

in that order. the rest of his stuff.. Just doesnt do it for me.

spookychild 07-27-2006 12:04 PM

I love the answers keep them coming.

Angelakillsluts 07-27-2006 01:07 PM

It sure was - also makes it very easy to dislike, too.

spookychild 07-28-2006 04:12 AM

Dream Warriors is an interesting answer. Alright I love the answers more opinions wanted.

Angelakillsluts 07-28-2006 07:02 AM

...

I added it so that I could have a top 5, I'm not a big wes craven fan. Dream Warriors was the only NOES sequel I didn't hate with a passion, the second movie was one of the worst movies ever made.
