Ha this should (hopefully) get some response.. i think the movie jaws was lame. there i said it. oh no i huge shark hungry for blood! oh now we cant go swimming.. boo hoo. Man TRY WAKING UP TO DEAD WALKING!!! or u live on a certain street and a burnt up psyco kills u in your dreams. or your doll trys to kill u. ETC. Two of my top 3 are already mentioned:

- Jaws
- Exorcist
- Vertigo

They're all decent movies IMO, but nowhere near as good as their reputation.

Most of the Friday the 13th series, and I'm not just talking about that last one's either. I had to watch them when I was older, because I was much to young to see them when they first emerged (being the tender age of 2 or 3).

As for the Exorcist... I guess I can see why people would say that... However, for it's time...it was pretty intense. The problems I have with it are from a purely occult perspective.

Anywho...

The remake "Dawn of the Dead" ...but what can you expect of a remake, right?

The main reason that I didnt like The Exorcist as much as most people is because I did something that is guarnteed to ruin a movie: I read the book first. On top of that, I thought it was great. After reading it, the movie seemed so rushed. Normally I dont like long movies, but even another half hour would have made The Exorcist much better. The movie hardly tells us anything about Father Karras, while in the book he was a very full and well written charater, so I was disapointed. Dont get me wrong, I think it's a decent film and it was very well made, just nowhere near as good as it could/should have been.

I havent watched it in almost a year though, I suppose I should give it another chance.

i've been wanting to read that book forever now. first my mom said i was too young, now i have no money. *sigh* is it worth my money to buy it? cause my library's gay and doesn't have it.

Wow. Jaws and Exorcist are both great, to me, and Vertigo is my third favorite movie of all time. Yikes.


Saw and Hostel would be my two overrated. GodDAMN did these movies get a lot of hype. They ended up being complete and utter horseshit. I can see why pre-teen girls are becoming the horror genre's main target.

Well this is why there are so many movies. People don't all like the same movies! A different person likes a different movie.

Personally, I did like "Jaws," scares me every time I see it, and it shouldn't, at this point, because I've seen it many times. But it still works for me somehow, and I love those mechanical sharks that were built for the film, they really did the job. That scene with Richard Dreyfuss in the cage is soooooo menacing. Good stuff Maynard.

I don't know that I would classify it as the most overrated movie of ALL time, but Cannibal Holocaust is the one that gets my vote. I watched it recently after reading and hearing a bunch of hype, and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Of course, I don't know what that says about me.:D

After hearing how it was the "goriest movie of all time", it didn't really do it for me. I mean, it was okay...but the high quality gore could not make up for a low quality movie.

That was probably one of the creepiest books I have ever read. Books don't tend to creep me out, but that book gave me the shivers. Very well written.

TCM is a seminal movie, and many successful deranged backwoods slashers have followed in its wake.

It also made chain saws the must have garden tool of outrageous aggressive horror, taking the baton from The Last House on the Left quite nicely.

Unfortunately, chain saws in movies have been done to death by now.

Nail guns - we should see more of them, and sharpened tape-measures.

The original is a cult classic. I just don't understand the hype of the remake. This is a post of over hype horror movies. It's a good movie(remake) but over hyped.

I don't think the remake of TCM was overhyped - it was touted as a remake of a classic horror film is all.

These kinds of threads often get into difficulties, when ratings, reviews, publicity bandwagons and art tend to trip over each other.

Yep. I saw the uncut version, and it just didn't live up to the hype for me. I read where the director (I think that's right) was almost arrested because officials thought the footage was real, so I was expecting this amazingly realistic movie. Don't get me wrong; it was disturbing, but it just wasn't all that. It's not a bad movie, just overrated IMHO.

Blair Witch

Even if you LOVED it you have got to admit it was overhyped.

Also, while I really enjoyed 6th Sense I think it's over-rated too. I actually liked the more predictable Unbreakable more than that one.

Undead, Wild Zero, and Stacy all dissapointed this zombie fan too.

Also i forgot to mention that whole m night shamlay-who cares movie THE VILLIAGE. It was so dumb. also cannibal holocost is pretty lame too. except that chick with the pike up the snatch and out the mouth. Vlad the impaler is would be proud.:D

Mine would have to be Black Christmas.I heard from so many people how great and creepy this movie was.So I bought it off the net casue I couldn't find it any where else.And man I was so disappointed with this movie.I had a very hard time watching this casue it to was very boring and unentertaning.
