Movies Owned: Which is Good?
These are all of the movies in my collection which I have not yet seen, or it has been a while and I forget most of it. Which are some good ones worth watching?
American Pie: Band Camp Boo! Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Madagascar Valiant Mean Creek Get Real Night Watch The Cave Hellraiser 4, 5, 6, 8 Bad News Bears The Brother's Grimm Desperate Souls Must Love Dogs Santa's Slay The Polar Express A Tale of Two Sisters Underclassman Two For The Money Flightplan The Fly Jaws The Fog Alien Requiem for a Dream Apocolypse Now Redux The Shining In Her Shoes Corpse Bride The Lord of the Rings Elizabethtown DOOM Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit Waiting Starship Troopers Pride & Prejudice The Legend of Zorro The Godfather 1 & 2 Phantom of the Opera Ong-Bak Snatch Underworld Garden State Thumbsucker Dog Soldiers MirriorMask Domino Scarface London RENT Nanny McPhee Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire The Silence of the Lambs Buying the Cow Psycho Day Watch Prime The Punisher Evil Aliens Memoirs of a Geisha Donnie Darko Kids in America Final Destination 1 & 2 The Transporter Fragile Timecop Just Friends Joshua Braveheart Capote Ginger Snaps 1, 2 & 3 The Notebook Venom Magnolia Someone Like You I Heart Huckabees The Chronicles of Narnia Fascination Mrs. Henderson Presents The Family Stone Basic Instinct Satanic Cheaper by the Dozen 2 House of the Dead The Door in the Floor Casanova Rocky 1 & 2 Match Point Cold Creek Manor Matador Mr. Hell Tristan & Isolde Last Holiday Kinky Boots Loggerheads Sleepaway Camp 2 & 3 Eternal Munich Imaginary Heroes Grandma's Boy The New World Thirteen Ghosts Candy Stripers BloodRayne Chaos Irreversible The Ringer The Unknown Ichi the Killer Syriana Down in the Valley KatieBird Firewall These Girls Bandidas Die Hard 1 & 2 The Zodiac Freedomland Hollowman 2 When A Killer Calls Identity Kidulthood Gladiator Underworld Evolution Cemetary Gates Planet of the Apes 16 Blocks Creep The Pink Panther Feed Eight Below Aquamarine Valentine Dirty Love S.W.A.T. Wait, are you saying you haven't seen ANY of those movies in your collection?
How is THAT happening? Did somebody die and leave you movies, or are you a loan shark and taking payments in DVDS? |
You haven't seen Alien or The Shining?
*suicide* |
Although I can't believe you haven't seen The Silence of the Lambs, I'll give you a few titles that I think are worth your time:
The Lord of the Rings (all three if you have 'em) A Tale of Two Sisters The Fog (but only if it's the original; if it's the remake, BURN IT!!) Dog Soldiers Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire (this turned me on to HP) Gladiator Ichi the Killer The Ringer (sick, twisted, but pretty funny for a Knoxville flick) Donnie Darko Capote (you'll get used to Hoffman's accent) There are probably a dozen others on the list that I'm missing, and you already know where I stand on both Boo and Creep.;) If you watch Night Watch (assuming it's the Russian flick), let me know how it is. I really want to see it. Happy viewing!!!! |
Haha, the deal is I'm a collector. Family members load their collections on me, like my aunt did recently with a bunch of cheap DVDs she bought and didn't have a use for (doesn't have a player...) I also order too much since I have lots of credit at stores like Futureshop and Chapters. Most are used, and some are badly burned copies (mostly the foriegn ones).
As for not seeing The Shining, Silence of the Lambs, etc... read carefully :) "which I have not yet seen, or it has been a while and I forget most of it." I have seen them, just been a while. :) I could use another viewing. The Fog is the remake :p I'm avoiding it. And yeah, NightWatch is the russina flick. I have DayWatch too. I was planning a b2b sometime... buuut... never got too interested. I think the subtitles on my discs are hack jobs anyway. |
Hahaha....I didnt read the whole list, but Santa's Slay is pretty fun:D. I saw it on Christmas Eve:p
|
If the "13 Ghosts" you list is the ORIGINAL film, then you have a really fun movie and you should make some popcorn and watch it!

Re: Movies Owned: Which is Good?
These are my suggestions out of the ones I've seen.
A Tale of Two Sisters The Fly Jaws Alien Requiem for a Dream Apocolypse Now Redux The Shining Corpse Bride The Lord of the Rings Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit Starship Troopers The Godfather 1 & 2 Phantom of the Opera Snatch Underworld Dog Soldiers MirriorMask Scarface The Silence of the Lambs Psycho Donnie Darko Final Destination 1 & 2 Braveheart Ginger Snaps 1, 2 & 3 The Chronicles of Narnia Basic Instinct Sleepaway Camp 2 & 3 Candy Stripers (the porno?) Ichi the Killer Die Hard 1 & 2 Identity Gladiator Planet of the Apes (IF it's the original.) |
Haha, good replies guys. The reason I haven't seen most of those is because I am not in to the type of films such as The Godfather or Bravheart and Gladiator. I will give them a go, though.
Candy Stripers (the porno?) Haha, nooo. It's some B-movie I picked up. I skimmed it and I don't think it's porn - or if it even has any sex. About demon-like candy stripers and some patients in their hospital. Mainly some collage-age boy who thinks something is wierd. |
i probably have 2000 - 3000 of mine i havent seen yet ..
should I post a list ? :p |
I got tired of the repetitive 'atrocities' to be found in Asian Category III films (rapes conveyed with over the top zelousness, extreme gore made comedic though silly sound effects, and, worst of the all, the reliance on the 'flashback' style accompanied by misplaced humour). Parts of Ebola Syndrome and The Untold Story remain shocking, but these kind of productions do not seem to have progressed intellectually or cinematically in the last decade.
Indie zombie films all seem to look the same now too - more blood, more Romero homages, same old narrative, bad acting and in-jokes. Rather than put trust in some of these films left gathering dust, I'd rather discover something like Wolf Creek from Blockbuster... |
Braveheart and Gladiator are two of the better movies on your list. I know what you mean about not your type of movie, but they are so good they transcend types. I cried for both of those movies and I'm not usually a cryin' girl...

you'd be suprised ! i'd say 90% of those are beta/vhs/dvd and laserdisc any of the burned ones i have - I replace with legal used copies if they are any good .. i like the extras.. |
Bet buncha those LDs are the ones you picked a few weeks back from that store which was closing, Urge.
Although I know you well, you might have taken a peek at all of em already. ;) :D |
Quote:
the other guy who ran a store closed it - so thats done .. although i initially bought them on ebay here and there i eventually only dealed with these 2 guys exclusively because they were honest - good business and i trusted them (both ended up being friends as well) i pretty much have everything i could want on laserdisc these days anyway .. but no ... i've only seen a amall fraction of the 2000+ lasers i have ..so far. |
you should get around to seeing em then.
How are you gonna keep em though? Just curious cuz I read somewhere (in these threads) that LDs (for that matter CDs and DVDs too) suffer from that whatcha-may-call-it condition? when it gets spoilt and the black-silver thingy of the LD inside the outer protective circle of the LD is affected? damn my memory is too short...:( Neways I m asking cuz my collection is growing too, and I have no idea how to keep em safe from any sort of damage. Do I keep em like they are, in their keep cases? or is there a better alternative? |

To the question posed for this thread, I d suggest The Shining and Dog Soldiers. This should be above everything else listed.

i'll probably convert the rare stuff to DVD though .. more in the event that all my players eventually break. |

several different pioneers, sonys, and even a marantz. i have even more that are broken but i'm purging right now and i'm gonna dump all the old electronics that dont work .. that'll include cd players, dvd players, vhs machines, etc ... should make a sizeable pile on garbage day. |
ahh yes laser rot...
sizeable pile? you planning a huge garage sale soon then :D |
Hi all
Right ppl...I have read all posts and none of the titles of movies match the film I asking about any other suggestions??????
