What do you think of this horror site?

http://www.aaronscryptofgorgothica.com/

Above is a link to a new horror site and I would like some feedback on it's design and user ability.

All feedback welcome. Let me have it!

Posher778 06-14-2006 04:46 PM

SPAM

stubbornforgey 06-14-2006 04:49 PM

spamspamspam..
this is not the local advertising company

horrorobsessed 06-14-2006 04:51 PM

SPAM.

no one cares.

besides.....that site sucks.

bloodcreature 06-14-2006 05:13 PM

How can it be spam?

How can this be spam? I have advertisement, but there are many things to do on the site.

It is an authors personal website to promote his work, but it is more than that.

Tell me what sucks about the site?

Dante'sInferno 06-14-2006 05:15 PM

Try and interact more before you start pimping your product here.Just a thought.

Spam: Pimping your crap. Spammer: Pimping then denying it as spam.

You are now a spammer who spams.nice.

The_Return 06-14-2006 05:21 PM

What sucks about it?

Well, the first thing I noticed was that Ive never seen you around here before. Will we ever see you again now that you've pimped you site? Not likely.

Unlike most people however, I gave the link a click. Wow, the Halloween theme...how original:rolleyes:. Incase you hadnt noticed, the majority of the crappy, homemade horror sites on the net use the exact same thing. Nice.

Then I notice a couple other things. I cant even read a story without downloading it, and it is only safe to assume that it would be loaded with Ad-Ware. Why do I say that? Because you're obviously a HUGE fan of advertisements. There's more ad's on the site than content!

See? Thats a bit better than simply yelling SPAM, isnt it?

Advice taken

Sounds fair enough, but this is not my stuff.

I bought the book and read the short stories and liked it.

Aaron Rayburn is a friend and introducing him to horror fans is all I wanted. I hoped some of the content of the site would spur some conversation.

Look Aaron, at least one of us gave it a shot. I didnt want to load my comp with crap, so I gave up. Perhaps you could learn from that.

sorry to disapoint you.

bloodcreature 06-14-2006 05:31 PM

Not disapointed

I am not disapointed. You gave your opinion and I don't get offended easily.

I can assure you that I am not Aaron.

filmmaker2 06-14-2006 05:32 PM

Don't knock it--it's got its own key.

Miss Olivia 06-14-2006 05:50 PM

Well, if you really are only a friend helping out a friend and not a dirty SPAMMER, then pull up a couch and hang out for a while.... everybody here has thoughts and opinions, share yours....if not, then you really are just pimping and it's a shame you wasted the time and energy.

You show up here without making 1 single relevant post anywhere else in the forum & post a link to your site. You are pimping your site on a forum that you are not a contributing member of. That is the very definition of spam.

You denying that it's spam does not make it any less spam.

bloodcreature 06-15-2006 12:52 AM

I am

My real name is Daniel Malone and my friend is Aaron Rayburn.

Aaron self-published The Shadow God last year and that drew us together because I write horror fiction.

We initially met when he began employment where I work. We both work as guards in a prison. Aaron and I write in hopes of ,one day, getting out of prison.

I designed this site for him because he already has some a story and his book. We wanted a fun horror site and different that the others.

So, no, I am not a spammer.

Au contraire! You seem to be in some sort of spammer denial, but rest assured, you ARE a spammer. Does a Yankee fan denying that Steinbrenner just tries to buy championships every year make it any less true? Nope. And neither does you claiming not to be a spammer, when it's pretty obvious that the only reason you are here in the first place is to pimp your website.

1-Have you ever posted at this site before posting a link to your own site?

2-Was the sole intent of your post to get traffic going to your site?

If you answered 1- no and 2- yes then you are a spammer, unwitting or not.

Yellow Jacket 06-15-2006 01:28 AM

Bad SPAM, Bad! You do not take a shit on Horror.com!

filmmaker2 06-15-2006 10:10 AM

dear josh.

bloodcreature 06-15-2006 10:57 AM

Wrong

I most certainly will not leave, because I want advice.

I designed the site for Aaron and I do like his stories and book.

I post on many forums and have not been offended and will not ever get offended from anyone's comments.

All who posted here will see.

You don't have to download the Fatal Kiss story because I put it on another page in the site, and will work on the other story.

I don't like abode, and I don't know what you mean about adware.

Also, my initial thought as I told Aaron is we could place some banners on the site and they may pay for the web service. I was wrong and will be deleting some of them.

What is most important to Aaron is exposure of his work and to sell a few books. He has an agent in out of New York that accepted his manuscript of The Shadow God. So, it is very possible it will be in bookstores in the next few years.

We didn't want originality in regard to the site, but familiarity.

I thank everyone for their comments thus far.

You can't succeed in this world if you allow people's opinions to crush what little world one lives in.

newb 06-15-2006 11:28 AM

I gotta hand it to ya....you are persistent. I'll give my thoughts on the site later...I'm at work and don't have the time at the moment.

filmmaker2 06-15-2006 12:04 PM

I agree. You're a tenacious one, and that's to be admired. Heck a dogged persistence is necessary in today's world. Tempered with politeness and a little humility, a respectable thing. It looks like you're tough enough to hang out at horror.com, surely one of the most abrasive and bizarre of the horror forums.

The members here are not just a bunch of Fruit Loops. I mean, they are; but that's not ALL they are. Some of the people here have had bad experiences with spammers, and have a tendency to be rather cautious when a new member appears and immediately directs attention to some other site. I'm sure you'll post on some other topics as well, so we can get to know you as the horror fan you are and not merely the publicist.

And now, for something completely different:

bloodcreature 06-15-2006 12:30 PM

Good

I have posted on other threads as I said I would.

Also I am a big horror fan, Alien is one of my favorites. I love Sci-Fi with a horror twist.

Also, I am working on my own novel. I'm in the process of finishing my fourth revision with Aaron's editing help. I help him edit to.

My novel may be called Bloodful, but I'm still undecided. It will push 300 pages when finished.

Haunted 06-15-2006 01:51 PM

Shit. I hit the thing where it said that "This site rocks" because I didn't read further, and I thought someone was asking about our site. Don't mind me. I just woke up from a nap.

I don't know how to respond to this recent intrusion. I mean, I'm a writer, and I don't have my friends hop over to other forums to pimp my shit. If I want people to read my poetry or short stories, I usually say, "Here, read this, or I'll hit you." It shows more class.

bloodcreature 06-15-2006 02:27 PM

Ha

A pimp makes money and I did this on my own. Aaron has never posted on forums before.

Intrusion? I thought this was a public site. The forum is general and if this is spam than why doesn't the moderator delete the post?

Anyway, if you have a short story I can read. I would love to read it. So send it to me.

Spammer.

Most of your posts are in here... You just want to spam.......

bloodcreature 06-15-2006 02:40 PM

Not so.

Correction:
I posted two new threads and another post that are not about Aaron's web page.

If this is spam than the moderator can delete this thread. I will not be angered.

Who cares anyway? The only item for sale on the website is a horror book. The links just help traffic and most of the links are other horror sites.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 06-15-2006 02:41 PM

didn't look, voted "it sucks"

bloodcreature 06-15-2006 02:42 PM

Slick edit. I see you have realized that I did post other threads.

I am not ashamed of posting in this thread. I intend to respond to all of my threads and post of others.

Predictable

Of course, it is so boring to continue this thread. But it is a way of venting on an unknown.

It is predictable nonetheless.

1. Attacks with apparent anger and accusations.
2. Other, sensing the heat, jump on the bandwagon.
3. Attacks of hate and sarcasm continue as others join in the fun.
4. Then accusations on how wrong and criminal your thread is.
5. A few wise forum members realize the attacked member isn't what they thought and post something positive. (If the member is persisstant.)
6. Eventually, the posts are not read completely and mis-interpreted.
7. Some members, who can never admit their faults, continue the harmless banter.
8. Eventually everyone forgets about the thread and moves on.

During any of these eight steps the threader maybe be driven off the forum in fits of anger and hurt. I know because I have watched it time after time.

You see, I have been on the Internet since 1994 and it is amazing how the Internet improves, but people don't.

It's okay. I know why I posted here and that is what matters the most.

PR3SSUR3 06-15-2006 03:58 PM

If there is one thing I have learned posting in cyberspace, it is not to discuss reasoning behind or summaries of behaviour.

Although sometimes we are all weak.

:p

bloodcreature 06-15-2006 04:09 PM

I just thought it would be humorous

I just did it as a joke. It is true, but I don't mind.

The internet gives me a break from reality and to learn about other people.

AUSTIN316426808 06-15-2006 04:11 PM

You've got 16 post and at least 10 of 'em are in this thread, you came here to advertise your site and 3 or 4 scattered post elsewhere isn't proving otherwise. If you're here in a month I'd be shocked.
