hostel

i saw hostel last night & is was very good. although little action from the beginning, but it starts getting good. i do recomend it. its gross though. what can i say about the sick mind of quentin tarrintino. he did it up good.

GorePhobia 06-08-2006 08:44 AM

sorry to break it to ya buddy but Tarantino didn't Direct it nor did it come from his head.

It was actually Eli Roth who directed it and who came up with the idea.

Tarantino just liked the idea and became Executive Producer.

That's why they plaster popular names on movies, because most people probably just assume they wrote or directed. Same thing they do with King adaptions.

There's so many threads for this.....

crazy raplh 06-09-2006 06:15 PM

hostle was the worst ever.

scaredsilly 06-09-2006 09:19 PM

it blew my mind. to think that people with too much money really could do something as sic as that

MrShape 06-10-2006 01:02 PM

I enjoyed Hostel. Very intense. Buckets of gore (haven't seen this many severed body parts outside of an anatomy school), and a ton of hot naked chicks to boot. I was surprised because I hated Cabin Fever, but Roth, it seems, is quickly getting much better. :D

crazy raplh 06-27-2006 08:56 PM

the plot was as about as intence as Bush's baked beans

The_Return 06-28-2006 08:13 PM

I didnt think much of it.

joshaube 06-28-2006 08:32 PM

I didn't like it that much either. I honestly did prefer Cabin Fever. More my style. It was alright simply due to the fact I enjoyed the final ending scenes. The first was trash, and so was the middle, but to a lesser extent. The introduction of the asian woman, the paying customer, the bubble-gum trade, the train, and the escape made it worth a single watch. Memorable scenes IMO. But otherwise, I thought it was a huge step down from Cabin Fever.

The_Return 06-28-2006 08:34 PM

The scene where he meets the guy about to "go in" was great, as was parts of the ending...otherwise I thought the whole thing was really weak.

Despare 06-28-2006 08:52 PM

Stephen King thinks this thread has been done before!

Quentin Tarantino hated this thread!

Ebert and Roeper gave this post two thumbs up!

Yeh but you're the biggest Bono fan ever so who cares?

I love slasher and I love exploitation so I've got high hopes for this when it comes out over here next month or so (missed it at the theatre). A lot of people's opinions are reflective of their subgenre tastes (as Marroe sez  derrrrrrrr) so I'm going with tha Shapes opinon cuz its the closest to mine..... but since the last time I saw Cabin Fever I dug a lot more than when I first saw it. Eli Roth was cool in 2001 Maniacs and has his heart in the genre a lot more than most so whatever I'll let you know.

crazy raplh 07-01-2006 02:34 PM

I think Bono should be in Hostle 2 :p he can save the world again.

Elvis_Christ 07-03-2006 10:05 PM

Save the world again?

StanTheMan 07-04-2006 10:32 AM

I heard it was supposed to be sick too. I thought this might just be too much sick stuff for it's own sake. I mean when it is justified then fine, when it isn't I don't see the point.

CHRIS24 07-04-2006 07:40 PM

storyline sucked to over hyped ambulances waiting outside theaters gimme a break.

really? i thought the gore was pretty tame. for me (although i didn't particually like the movie) it was very violent, but not that gory.

alkytrio666 07-08-2006 02:21 PM

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

This movie really blew nuts.

i wouldn't go that far, but i was DEFINATELY disappointed. 6/10

ballboff 07-10-2006 07:47 AM

I absolutely loved this movie. I didn't like the fact they put quentin tarrantino's name on it, even though he had naff all to do with the production of this movie. Same with hero and sin city I guess.

However, that being said I thought Eli Roth did a brilliant job. Something different, not a remake or sequel of any kind, and I find that quite refreshingly entertaining in this day and age.

makemebad 07-10-2006 06:55 PM

I enjoyed Cabin Fever much more

ballboff 07-11-2006 12:58 AM

I enjoyed both, I went to see cabin fever at the cinema and so I probably got a lot more out of that movie. Whether you like a film or not can sometimes just depend on the surroundings and the mood you're in at the time. Different films affect different people in different ways, and that's the beauty of film I guess. I would have enjoyed hostel a lot more if I'd not have heard anything about it, I almost knew what to expect even though it was me who brought it into work for people to see! This was before I'd even watched it myself, I told my friend it was about a couple of back-packers in europe that get lost. Well, that's a little bit vague to say the least, considering the rest of the tale!

makemebad 07-11-2006 10:57 AM

Yeah I think I would of enjoyed it more if I didn't know every scene that happenend.

I couldn't get away from the people that kept talking about it

ballboff 07-12-2006 01:03 AM

Yeah, if only I'd have watched it first. Anyway, I've got this one called BTK Killer, supposed to be based on true events about a serial killer in america. You see that's as indepth as it comes when I describe a movie!! I might watch and post back a review later, on a new thread of course.

The Mothman 07-12-2006 08:37 PM

i thought it was shit.
there my 2 cents.

Yeah, same here. I didn't enjoy Hostel, but more because it didn't appeal to me than that it was a bad movie. I definitely think the gore factor was overhyped. I'm with Tarcher80 on that, it was violent but not gory.
