Best Buy
The Best Buy by my house has an amazing selection of horror. Classics, Exploitation Films, Troma, Hard to find.
Does this vary by store (based on sales?) or do most Best Buys have all these goodies? |
Best Buy is nice for that odd movie you want. They put a lot of films out at sale prices that are way lower than most video outlets. They also stock a lot of "small" titles that you may not find elsewhere; they will have that MGM cheesy double-feature disc or that Paul Naschy film at very cheep prices.
Conversely, for certain cultish titles, they will mark the price up as high as anyone else will. So it's not all cheap; but picking through the shelves will usually turn up a few bargains. |
2001 maniacs just arrived at the best buy nearest me. does anyone think that i should get it? how is the gore?
|
2001 Maniacs at our Best Buy was something like $21.99. They do that with a lot of stuff like Ong Bak, Pulse, a lot of the Tartan Extreme stuff. Way overpriced unless it's on sale.
|
the Toxie's Favorites or whatever 10 movie set is at my Best Buy for like $20
|
The Best Buy around here has a very good mix of everything. About 1/4 of the store(which isn't small by any means) is movies.
|
best buy is awesome
circuit city ain't so bad either |
Oh yah, Best Buy rocks.
I've picked up some real gems there. (Eraserhead, Cult Classics Box Set {$12.99!}, Zombi 2 {2 disc}, etc.) |
I love Best Buy:D
We dont have one around here, but everytime I go to the states, which is usually every couple months or so, I always make sure to stop there. Im also a big fan of Suncoast. Their prices arent as good, but the horror selection is incredible. |
I heard a lot of the Suncoasts were closing down? But I haven't gone to the local mall to check on that one.
Suncoast has those bargain racks with the weird obscure stuff few people know about, often very attractively priced. |

Ive picked up a rediculous amont of great horror films from Best Buy. these are all from the same store. not all are all that good, but quite a bit of them are hard to find at a normal store.
Deadly Spawn Zombie Henry Dawn and Day Of The Dead Dead and Breakfast Day Of The Dead 2: Contagium High Tension Feeding The Masses Chopping Mall Sleepaway Camp Survival Kit Ginuea Pig Box Set and theres a bunch more that i cant think of right now. |
I've got the Best Buy rewards program and since I buy a ton of stuff all the time it's great. On my way to BB I pick up the Circuit City ad (so if they have lower prices at CC I can get them matched) and then I only have to shop in one place and I get the rewards stuff. I have had over $300 in rewards in the last year or so.

i didn't know the suncoasts were shutting down, that fucking sucks
|
Personally I think best buy sucks, not only is the horror section here not worth a shit, the service department sucks as well, and not just from my own personal experiences with them, also have a few friends that have had problems with their service dept...
Now Media Play on the other hand was fucking awesome, best place to buy dvd's ever, and they closed down  Personally though I prefer ebay to just about anything, can't tell you how many great deals I've gotten on dvd's and I own getting close to 2000 dvd's now... |
Suncoast probably has the best selection of horror in Minnesota (and I was just at the one by my house & they didn't seem to be closing at all. No sales, no clearance, no going out of business signs. Nothing. Just business as usual.) but Best Buy generally has better prices.
Ebay is a great place for finding hard to find stuff at fair prices. (But Suncoast will order movies for you too. So will Borders.) Media Play RULED! I had like 6 friends that all started working there right when it opened and like 4 months later they were all looking for new jobs. So anyways, I typically get all my CDs at Best Buy, but most of my movies are from Ebay, Suncoast, and pawn shops (Pawn America is another great place to find cheap DVDs & VHS. 5 VHS for $20!!!) |
Dude. I went down to the local Suncoast around Halloween time to look at their bargain rack, and found a collection of vampire movies, it was like 5 movies for $7.99 or something like that, and it was a couple of cheesy Filipino vampire movies from the 60's, mixed with one early 70's Spanish flick and one early 70's American flick. It was crap-tastic! So I grabbed that along with "Beware the Blob!" and walked out of there with six great cheeseball movies for less than $17.00.
I didn't hear they were all closing down, just some of them, and I have not personally seen one closing down, so maybe it's just a rumor and maybe most of them will stay. |
the Suncoast here closed down. it was too damn expensive anyway and half of their store was fucking anime and stupid tshirts. fuck em.
most of my dvds come from ordering online, either from deepdiscountdvd or eBay. |
