Horror films ? Goldsmith's 'The Omen' is still my all time fav mainly because 'Ave Satani' is still THE tune for me which all others wilt in comparison against. Manfredini's 'Friday The 13th' pieces saved that film and (ugh!) Goblin's 'Suspiria' are also favs (even though I still think Goblin is horribly overrated and haven't done anything worthwhile before or after). Bernard Herrmann of course because, well, he's Bernard Herrmann LOL Other than that, I'm on a very steady diet of spaghetti western music lately for my upcoming film. I try to keep an open ear and mind to everythng.

Any of the batman movies, matrix lord of the rings (the FIRST), Scream 1.

alkytrio666 04-30-2006 09:52 AM

The Matrix series, The Pink Panther series (A Shot in the Dark is my favorite score of the series), Dawn of the Dead ('78) by Goblin, the Spider-man series, Batman Begins, and the Lord of the Rings series are all very good.

But the greatest score, in my opinion, goes to King Kong (2005). Powerful and emotional. Takes the great elements from the original 1933 film, and gives them passion. Amazing. Gives me chills.

DEFINETLY the untouchables. the soundtrack is amazing.

Oh, I though Ed Wood had a great score as well. Really fit the kind of movies Ed made, but also added a kind of sensitive quality...much like the film itself

Abominus 04-30-2006 08:30 PM

Donnie Darko and Run Lola Run.

Jacob Singer 05-01-2006 02:42 AM

Another great Ost:

-Rocky horror picture show (cience fiction, double feature, picture show, I wanna go in the back rope etc)

-Final Fantasy Advent children

28 days later, not a great film but I love the soundtrack

-Anything from Enio Morricone

I wasnt a big fan of the re-scored version myself. I though the lack of music in the original version made certain scenes that much more tense, and adding music only detracted from that. I'll admit that it was a decent score, but it takes away from the movie IMO.

Most people wouldn't. It was only released on vinyl for a short time then pulled over publishing disputes. Since most of it is classical music (minus Wendy Carlos and 2 tunes from 30s), you can do a google search on exact listing and download tunes elsewhere. I did :D
