Nekromantik

Has anyone seen this? How is it?

I really wanna see it, friggin' bad, but the only place I can order it from is kinda pricy- it's really hard to find.

Reviews?

Excellent, this was a real eye-opener on first viewing.

It maintains a grim tone all of its own throughout, but is not without comical moments - though these might be lost as you cannot believe what you are seeing if you have not had the pleasure of an extreme necrophelia movie before.

From the devastating soundtrack, through the ghastly dead body-licking/humping, to the infamous erection/stabbing finale... this is one of a kind.

Of course there was a sequel, but I cannot recall in which film the real rabbit-killing ocurred. Hard to watch, and bearing in mind this was filmed during practice at a rabbit farm doesn't make it much easier.

You should definately see Nekromantik though.

Is it worth $26? Or a birthday present?? Or should I just see if my friend can que it up on Netflix?

alkytrio666 04-12-2006 02:37 PM

Scratch that...they don't even have it on NetFlix.

I wouldn't say its worth spending $26, its a decent fucked up flick but not at that price.

I didn't like the rabbit killing at all (defo #1), seemed completely unnecessary and I couldn't see why they felt it related to his need to fuck corpses.

I would recommend it as part of any varied horror collection though, in addition to its sequel, Schramm and Der Todesking by the same director.

Jorg Buttgereit produced work vastly different to the efforts of his fellow countrymen Andreas Schnaas, Olaf Ittenbach and the like - avoiding the heroic dramas and badly acted comedy camcorder gore in favour of some grim and very serious work where the black comedy somehow serves to heighten the horror.

The uncut Der Todesking features a clip from a nazi exploiter with an alarming penis-slicing sequence executed slowly with a pair of garden shears.

so you're like - the opposite of a salesman for me ! hahahaha

i can only handle nasties in a cartoon way ..

Story of Ricky .. thats a perfect example of the mayhem i like .. pure nuts - over the top .. it doesnt disturb me ..

the other stuff .. like real animal killings .. i just cant do it - they arent images i want in my head...

if that makes me a pussy .. well, shave my head and rub my nose, daddy's home !

You big puff.

:D

Still, if it's any consolation, I don't seem to have the interest (or stomach) I used to.

Though many seem to charge through to middle age with a regular diet of bargain basement debauchery, sometimes I feel like I've already got the point and now I want somthing different.

Of course the opposite end of the spectrum is Hollywood - with its gloss, emptiness and irony.

Shudder!

Asian CAT3 stuff is getting a bit boring now too - though I still get a thrill out of stuff like DARK WATER and RING.

Recently I've enjoyed MY LITTLE EYE, DEAD BIRDS, JACKASS, SAW (ish), REQUIEM FOR A DREAM, FREEZER, TEENAGE CAVEMAN (Larry Clark is a pervert).

yeah .. i found a lot changed when we had our kid ..
i never liked certain things .. but there's a lot more i just prefer to avoid now .. i think the news is all the horror anyone needs .. i cant even watch it these days ..

i do understand the need to find something 'different' though .... thats why i appreciate the little gems i do find ..

re teenage caveman .. oh yeah .. larry is into young boys for sure .. the camera lingers ..

i wonder if he's a penpal of Victor Salva...

some good stuff in that movie though ..

Yeah, I'm in America. I have no idea why it's not showing up for you, but I swear I rented it from them.
