books you haven't read and don't plan to

Title says it all. What books have you not read, and don't plan to read?

I, for one, won't bother with:
Any Harry Potter book after #2 (I read as much as I could of the first two, couldn't stand them, and see no reason to give the rest of them a shot)
Dianetics
The Da Vinci Code (I thought it was some big investigative book that delved into all sorts of stuff about the whole deal with Jesus, only to find out it was a dime-store thriller/adventure novel. I haven't given a shit since)

The Exorcist. Just not my thing.

urgeok 03-25-2006 10:28 AM

the da vinci code..

because i read angels and insects ...
the guy is a shitty writer.

noctuary 03-25-2006 12:46 PM

Anything by D.H. Lawrence. The man is a great writer, there's no doubt about it, but after doing a thesis on his work, the appeal is lost on me.

After graduation, I can't really see myself reading any classic "serious" literature. I will have done my time, and I'll only be reading for pleasure from that point on.

uhmmmm .... so you will read it then ...

Posher778 03-26-2006 07:09 PM

R and J isn't too bad... for shakespeare.

The STE 03-26-2006 08:29 PM

R&J is the Shakespeare play that gets most of the press, and I can't imagine how great it was when it first came out, but now all I can think at the end is "stop being whiny emo bitches" King Lear is so much better it's not even funny, so's Othello

urgeok 03-27-2006 02:44 AM

romeo and juliet gets more exposure because the theme is more accessable for the masses ..

a troubled love affair .. most people could relate to that - still can.

there are still film versions of this being made all the time.

Yellow Jacket 03-27-2006 04:53 AM

I'm not much of a reader, but I tend to read occasionally. Here's some shit floaters I'm not reading:

-The Da Vinci Code
-Any Harry Potter book
-Any book based on a movie, or written for the sole purpose of cashing in a few more bucks for a new blockbuster hit

BTW- R & J isn't too bad of a read. Don't stress it too much.

noctuary 03-27-2006 06:19 AM

Heh... it seems I neglected to mention Dan Brown. Of course it goes without saying that I'll never read any of his books.

So check this out. Now you can create your own Dan Brown novel in the comfort of home.

re. the Harry Potter novers .. i enjoy them ..

they're like The Hardy Boy books for the 2000's

Zero 03-27-2006 07:39 AM

all the instruction manual booklets i own

for god's sake i'm a man - i don't need no stinking instructions!

Despare 03-29-2006 09:04 PM

Da Vinci Code
Little Women

AsherAtori 04-01-2006 12:54 AM

Nora Robert because her stories are the same type of thing over and over again. As for the R and J thing that's a great play but it definitely overshadows some of his other work which is equally well written. I would take Hamlet over R and J anyday of the week.

davinci code

chainleen 04-17-2006 04:18 PM

The Wheel of Time series..I read the first 5 a loooooooooooooooong time ago when I realized it was never going to stop.

Dear God. Let it die. NOW.

Preacher 04-20-2006 11:30 PM

The Bible

rogerzeus 04-23-2006 07:48 PM

Any Stephen King. The last King I ever read was Pet Semetary when it first appeared (I'm old). Too much padding, no payoff.
