land of the dead
i just saw land of the dead the other night, & i must say i was kind of disappointed in george romero. it was kind of boring to say the least. it was just ok for me. nothing to bragg about. i love zombie movies, but this did not take the cake.
|
you're right ...
it was THIS KID that took the cake !!!!!! |
It wasn'y dissapointing, you don't have to be polite just 'cause it's Romero.
It sucked balls. Big ones. |
it was a dissapointment because it was romero.
everyone was waiting for the be all and end oll romero zombie film. put it up against a lot of other zombie films available to us - and it's still a decent well made well acted film. |
watched it again the other night, its such a disapointment. I waited 20 years for this film & all we got was that Big Daddy asshole. I'm not holding out much hope for Land 2.
|
Big letdown from the zombie master.. but not a bad zombie movie beside that
|
I liked the bad ass girl, and it sucked,..... also.... yay for the 500th frickin thread on this...
|
Romero is overated and its been years since he did a "masterpiece".
|
Well nooooo shit man, his last movie was in 2000. And then before that it was 1985.

No, I'm not. Why? Are you?
Yeah I left a few shit movies out but still.. before land of the dead his last movie was Bruiser in 2000 so why even say he hasn't made a masterpiece in years when he hasn't made a movie in years.. ya dig? |
I really didn't like Bruiser at all.
I liked Land of Dead though, weak point of the series but it's still a cool zombie flick. I wonder what will happen with Diamond Dead, could go either way. |
well - i've said it before and will again - IMHO LotD was a Romero masterpiece - it just wasn't what you wanted. . . but in fairness, none of the dead trilogy is what audiences expected - - - i mean, in 1968, who was assuming Ben gets shot in the end? - or that an African American guy is our hero? - no one! And in 78, who's expecting a pie-fight with zombies? or the vaudeville shopping sprees? - no one! in 85, who's expecting this incredibly claustrophobic film - especially after the wider space of Dawn? or the brutality - or the gore? - no one!
So, LOTD wasn't a huge action slaughter fest- nor was it a bleak 'zombies=evil' film. .. i think romero said to this country exactly what it needed to hear - don't go looking at THEM as evil, look in the mirror! |
When you look at it strictly as part of the series, Land of the Dead is indeed disappointing. But if you can separate it in your mind from the other films, you'll find a decent zombie flick. Sure, there were parts of it that annoyed me, but there's been much worse.
