Movies don't really make me jump...The last thing I remember jumping at was the cat through the window on one of the Friday The Thirteenths....Cuz I wasn't expecting it

While I dont agree at all about Boogeyman, there were a few good ones in White Noise.

Even though it's not exactly horror, The Forgotten had a couple of great ones. Saw it in theatres, so the volume didnt help. Easily the most Ive jumped at a movie, ever. Im usually prepared, but I didnt think this would be the kind of movie that would have jump moments, really caught me off gaurd.

When i was 12 my mom and dad got a vcr (the one with the top lifts up to put the tapes in, the tapes came in bulk size box)I went to the video store to see a movie to rent and there it was...Alien.Man did i hound my dad!"Are you sure,It's scary"He said."Yes!"I said.So after a night of pure horror under the covers,The next day my dad told me the video was due back,"I WANT TO WATCH IT AGAIN!!"Even thougth iv'e been watching horror/sci-fi films at the young age of 5 Alien made my nightmares come true and loving it!!!!

You guys are going to think I'm ridiculous, but I jumped more watching The Others at the theatre, than I have jumped my whole life. Weird, huh?

Posher778 02-04-2006 06:51 AM

Agreed... Alien hands down.... i could not sit still the entire movie my first time watching it..... That part in the vents...

stubbornforgey 02-04-2006 12:35 PM

Salems lot..when the kid was scratching at his mates window.
i was watching this movie where it had
alot of short stories ..like asylum...
Picture this..the house was dark..
em all alone...(so i think)..
doors all securely locked..even lounge door..snacks and drinks on the coffee table in front of me ..oh and ciggies.

Anyways..in one part of the movie..a young child dies and his mother sells her soul to bring him back to life..
he was to return to her at midnight..
he knocked on the door..she goes to open it and there stands her son ..all zombie like.

Anyways ..on the movie he had finished knocking (real creepy sound)..
but ..i could still hear somebody knocking on my living room door..
so em like (shaky voice)..hehehello..
no reply!!..again ..hehehello..still no reply..
em supposed to be home alone right..so by now em shittin myself.
and the light switch seemed miles away from my seat.
So i go to stand up with my weapon of choice..*plastic fork*..ready to do damage..and this fuckin hand grabs my ankles from under the couch..(husband)
his mate comes bursting in thru the lounge door..screaming like a banshee.
I started screaming and was stabbing the air furiously with my fork.
We won't go into detail as to what i finally eneded up doing to those motherfuckers afterwards..who by the way were laughing so hard..em sure one of them pissed thier pants..or was that me !!!

bloodrayne 02-05-2006 07:26 AM

I just remembered another one...

When the hand popped up from the grave near the end of 'Carrie'...We were at the drive-in...I nearly jumped into the floorboard....

BUT...I was 10....AND...Carrie was the first horror movie I had seen besides the old black and whites...

Posher778 02-05-2006 01:48 PM

after wastching alien again, its only got about 3 really good ones, but still, for its time, that movie was completely terrifying.

The first sentence of this thread caught my attention. Shit jumping-perhaps a new in depth thread is required?

Fearonsarms 02-21-2011 12:07 AM

I don't usually jump, I get frightened in a more psychological way. But Haute Tension/Switchblade Romance did make me jump at its intensity.

ferretchucker 02-21-2011 05:56 AM

I must confess, despite expecting it, I did jump at the end of Paranormal Activity. You guys know the bit I mean..

ChronoGrl 02-21-2011 08:22 AM

The original Halloween really did a number on me, as did Alien. In more recent years, Blair Witch Project really scared me, especially the end.

The bit that really got me in Halloween was when Michael appeared in the back of the car.

Jaws has some good jumps. I watched it as a kid and had a few sleepless nights after that.

Also, Event Horizon and the Shining.
