Worst Horror Ending

I did a search and saw thier was no thread like this.
So I took it upon myself to make one.

Has thier ever been a movie you watched that you liked the whole way through...then came the ending. Thiers Ending we all hate. What are some of yours?

Mine...

Candyman 2
Near Dark
Ju-On
The Village
Jacob's Ladder

Skaboy 01-29-2006 12:56 PM

What about "Snuff"? A mediocre film at best but the ending was just tagged on to make an otherwise un-noteworthy film notorious.

The_Return 01-29-2006 01:47 PM

Amityville 2: The Possession

Someone care to explain how the hell the house was repaired by the time the Lutz family moves in? Whats that? You cant? Exactly.

Ill think of more...

urgeok 01-29-2006 01:50 PM

my vote's on The Village.

it also gets my vote on the worst Horror beginning and middle as well.

Despite that valid point...I loved that movie.

For me, it's all these new bullshit movies. To name a few HORRIBLE endings-

-The Fog (2005)

-Boogeyman

-Darkness Falls

However, it's not like I liked these movies and then hated the endings. I hated the movies entirely.

Repaired? What do you mean repaired? The house didn't explode (the explotion in the exorcism scene meant something like "freedom", if you know what I mean... I think "purity" would be the appropiate word) or something like that. And not any damage was made to the house at all.

The_Return 01-29-2006 02:00 PM

What are you talking about man? It can symbolise whatever the hell it wants to, but the house was still charred and partially destroyed. Continuity is far more important than symbolisim, IMO.

Oh my God! Doors and windows opening by themselves? Is that the damage you mean? Blood running through the floor? Pillars falling off the ceiling? Wow! Now, THAT'S hard to repair! Evil brushes? ¬¬

Before you say anything else regarding this movie, Id recomend you actually see it.

alkytrio666 01-29-2006 02:14 PM

Can't we all get along?

:(

As do I. Lets both grab it off the trusty ol' shelf and watch the last few minutes, shall we? Perhaps Im the one with the wrong idea about the ending, but one of us is WAY off, I know that.

no need to rush

The_Return 01-29-2006 02:33 PM

Ok, I just watched most of the final exorcism, and I see what you mean. The pan through the house shoed no damage, despite the explosion. My apologies...still a crappy ending though, IMO.

Thanks. I knew I was right, I really love this movie. Now, the question is... what does that explotion mean? I think it means Sonny's freedom, but I'm not sure.

Blair Witch Project; disliked the whole thing but the ending REALLY sucked.

Land of the Dead; actually I really liked this movie but the whole letting the zombies go thing was BS. Didn't ruin the movie for me just made me roll my eyes and hope that guy dies in the sequel.

I agree with you on Land Of the Dead 100% the end was a let down.

But as for Blair Witch Project...I dont agree. I liked the movie and the ending. Just my opinion. What is shitty though is the sequal.

Despare 01-29-2006 08:30 PM

I almost picked up the sequal to Blair Witch just to see if I'd like it but I backed off, sounds like a good choice. Anyway, The Truth About Demons had kind of a crappy ending as well.

RavageRitual 01-29-2006 08:43 PM

Ive never seen that

I couldnt disagree more! Most of the movie was pretty boring/repetitive, but the ending made the whole thing worthwhile for me.

May I ask how come you didnt care for the ending? I thought it was a great move by the filmmakers not to show the "witch", if they had the film wouldnt have had such a lasting impression on me. The whole sequence in the cabin + the events directly leading up to it where incredibly tense and scary. In fact when I first saw it, I was so terrified at the ending, I left the room and refused to wattch it for about 2-3 years. Upon the next viewing, it still terrified me, and after numerous viewings, it still holds it effect.

Posher778 01-30-2006 05:32 PM

i actually enjoyed the village. not because it was scary or entertaining, because it wasnt. I thought it was original,a dnt eh ending, although really random, was unique, because, i've never seen a movie with an ending like that. I'd give it like a 2.5/5 though. the ending i HATED most was probably darkness. The reason is just because i went with some friends to see it and now there's this huge fight over whether they all died or not.

I no there have been worse endings, but that one just itched me the wrong way.

Tikkin 01-30-2006 11:43 PM

"Grotesque" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095256/) has one of the worst endings I have ever seen. It turns out that the whole movie I just watched was a movie within a movie, with a werewolf and frankenstein fake projecting it for the audience.

Apart from the ending though, the movie was great.

bwind22 01-31-2006 01:23 AM

I was actually semi-into The Ring until the ending, which I thought really, really sucked a lot. It dragged that whole movie in to the pits of shittiness.

Undead started cool (i liked the 1st half) but then seemed to switch genres mid film and went on to suck.

Land of the Dead's end was stupid, like a few people already noted.

I'm sure I'll think of more because there are a lot of them out there but these 3 sprang right to mind.

gnarly666 01-31-2006 02:01 AM

in the new land of the dead movie the zombies attack and start eating every one but at the end of the movie the zombies just walk off for no reason

Viddy 01-31-2006 02:54 AM

I Hated the ending of NEW NIGHTMARE!
It was so...blergh!

gorefreak 01-31-2006 05:18 AM

I think it was "Zombie Island". Lame, long, winded story that dragged on, and the 'zombies' were just dressed up drug runners who killed people to keep their operations under wraps.

Angra 01-31-2006 05:20 AM

The ending in the japanese "cursed" sucks pretty badly.

But the worst ending must be "The Birds II: Land's End".

Try watching it stoned, man.

:D

urgeok 01-31-2006 05:24 AM

i thought the ending of blair witch .. the VERY ending (in the basement) was one of the coolest endings i'd seen.

I'll admit that the running around in the house felt to me when i was watching it like 'this old house is cool .. lets run around in it - that should look pretty cool' and was the only thing that took me out of the experience of the movie..

but the actual ending in the celler ... i thought it was very effective..

PR3SSUR3 01-31-2006 05:37 AM

It is this viewer's most favourite ending of all time, in any film ever.

If not as the finale of a thoroughly fantastic and original horror film, then as the most provocative, uncomfortable and challenging final scene ever conceived.

Even in scorn of the film and its ending, it succeeds - much to the chagrin of detractors.

the village
bogeyman
are mine well for now.

TheOmen 02-01-2006 06:51 AM

Wow, not one person has attacked my baby, April Fool's Day yet? Although I love the ending, I heard a lot of bitching about it on these very forums about a year ago.

noctuary 02-01-2006 06:56 AM

I too enjoyed the ending of the Blair Witch Project. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it made the movie.

As for endings I hated, The Ring 2 is the crowning example. I didn't really know what to expect prior to it, but I certainly didn't expect the insipid, trite and DULL garbage that was spewed out.

I liked it, too. It was so damn creepy.

knife_fight 02-01-2006 05:48 PM

I liked April Fool's Day too.

what about the ending of the Haunting remake? Lily Taylor has been in some great movies, but that crap was about the worst thing ever.
