The Amityville Horror (1979)

I think this is one of the best horror movies about hauntings. It's kind of underrated. I know the sequels are pretty mediocre, but at least the first movie is great and is a classic. It might have lack of scares, but the music is excellent and CREEPY as hell. Don't tell me seeing a red-eyed flying pig through your window isn't scary! :D

One of my favourites, deserves much more respect than it gets. Creepy, well acted, all around great horror movie.

When I was a kid, I lived near Amityville and we used to go near the house. I grew up in the 1980s, after the film was released, but there were always lots of stories. I haven't been back to Amityville but I remember it pretty well...I don't recall if they ever acknowledged whether or not the film was based on real events.

Agreed...it was a great film.

Agreed, especially about the "eyes" bit.

But where do you get flying pig from?

urgeok 01-31-2006 06:06 AM

didnt it appear looking in through a 2nd floor window ?
(i havent seen it since it was in the theatres)

1st floor or second .. it was either flying or jumping like a bastard to see in a house window :p

I'd never considered it being a "pig"....

Oink!

LOL :D

Well, Amy's room was in a second floor (you can confirm this, just check out the beginning of the scene where "Jody" locks the babysitter in the closet...), so I guess that pig was flying! :p

.. liked it as a kid...but last time I saw it..I was a little dissapointet... got a documentary about the real event by the way...

this is a great film...far superior to the remake in story and cast.the seen with "the eyes" and rod steiger's scene with "the voice"...so simple yet so effective and creepy.

Second floor, that's when George had the axe in his hand and he looked and saw the "pig" in the second story window, which actually seemed to look more like a deformed buffalo. :D But it looked more like it was standing, rather than flying.

Don't forget.... when Cathy went to the window when Amy said 'Jody' ran outside, she saw those red eyes staring at her and then floating away.

Yeah, the original was so much better than the remake.

PR3SSUR3 02-02-2006 07:35 AM

Huh! Yeah...

...and pigs might fly.

zomb5150 02-05-2006 07:23 AM
