The Bad Seed

So who's seen this one? A classic for sure. I liked it!
Leroy, the gardener, rocks.

Haven't seen it - what's it about?

abbycomix 12-12-2003 01:47 PM

It's a movie made in 1956 about an evil little girl, it's very creepy but campy too. May be a little slow for today's audiences, no gore, but it's a total classic.
The big question it poses can a person be born evil? A 'perfect' little girl who's a killer. Classic.

Did you know the Good Son was supposed to be a remake of this film?

Ryan_Zombie 12-12-2003 02:21 PM

Saw this one on AMC a while back(the remake)....it was great. A thinker of a film, and very disturbing, if a bit subtle in the premise of the story.

I kind of guessed that. I missed it though. Is it worth bothering with?

No. But it is mildly funny to see people run from Macaulay Culkin.

Only if you don't mind animal cruelty and a frustrating story line.

I love the lines and delivery by the gardener, Leroy. He just seemed like this ranting, crazy guy talking to himself (also exposition for the plot) but he was the first one to know she was a bad seed!
Coincidentally(?) the director's last name is LeRoy.

In that case, have you seen the Village of the Damned remake? Buck Flower plays a janitor and he sounds very similar to Leroy. You should check it out if you haven't. He's pretty funny.

I'll have to check it out. sounds good!

I warn you that's it's a little slow and a lot of people HATE it cuz it's not as good as the original. I've got no problem with it though and think it's a damn cool movie. It is Carpenter after all.

I heard that too. Crazy shit. Crispen was born to play that role though. Joaquin Phoenix turned the role down as well.
