When Hell freezes over...

What's the one horror movie you'd just kill for them NOT to remake it. The one you'd want them never to try again.

Mine would be The Shining (yes, I know, but the T.V. version doesn't count...) or An American Werewolf In London.

stubbornforgey 12-15-2005 10:10 AM

THE SHINING!!!!
loooooooooooooooooool

em down with you on that one.

oh and IT'

'stubborn steps into the shadow':D

SKOOFx 12-15-2005 10:27 AM

I like the tv version of the shinning better..yeah you read right.

It matches the book PERFECTLY.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 12-15-2005 10:39 AM

I'll say the Shining, they probably will remake it though.

WHAT!?

Anyway, I really hope we never see an Americanized version of Audition. Since it's already a little older, there's probably not much chance of it, thankfully.

Haunted 12-15-2005 11:30 AM

You know, there's not a movie I hold sacred enough to not be able to stomache a remake EXCEPT maybe The Exorcist. I don't know how they could do it, but you can bet your sweet bippies that somewhere in film-land somebody is pondering what I'm pondering...and they disagree with me.

Personally, and I've said this before, I think a remake of The Thing and Rosemary's Baby would be in order. With the visual abilities they have today, they could really spruce The Thing, and with the share of more actresses we sure as hell could get a better main character than Mia-fucking-Farrow. (Not to mention that our conceptualization of the Devil has matured)

ItsAlive75 12-15-2005 12:01 PM

"Freaks" could never be redone... ever.

NO....Don't touch The Thing. It would be done with crappy CGI, and i won't stand for that.

-The Abominable Dr. Phibes

-Theatre of Blood

scottingraham 12-15-2005 12:26 PM

Halloween its perfect and should not be messed up by a remake!

MoonLit Meadow 12-15-2005 01:00 PM

Suspiria.

AND OF COURSE.....FRIGHT NIGHT ;)

Yellow Jacket 12-15-2005 01:01 PM

- The Exorcist

- The Omen

-The Shining

If any director touches these movies, I'll kick their asses!

Despare 12-15-2005 01:37 PM

I liked the TV Shining better too, not that the other one was bad by ANY means but it was just so much closer to the book. Anyway, I know they're supposed to remake Evil Dead and I've come to terms with that but I REALLY don't want them to remake Army of Darkness.

filmmaker2 12-15-2005 01:43 PM

Well, now that I've seen the new KING KONG, I really wish they hadn't made it. Thought it was awful! The script could have been a lot better than what they went with. Jack Black was terribly miscast. Movie is too long, even though it looks great with fantastic effects.

It did feature lots of monsters, which generally speaking were very well done and scary. But I thought the movie was a poo poo. Sorry, Peter Jackson! Lord of the Rings was far, far better IMO.

stubbornforgey 12-15-2005 02:16 PM

Finally..!!somebody who speaks my veiws on this ..to the tee..

long and drawn out..
joe black...oh why lord

Okay okay okay! Relax. No remake. I see your point. CGI thing...bad. Honestly I wasn't even thinking cgi, but... shit I don't know.

You kinda hit on a point, though, Newb.... When I was little I wanted to be a makeup artist (still might try), but today, they don't use as many creaters and artists because it's all done by computer. I mean movies look more "real," but some of the magic is gone.

Although I will say that zombies have evolved nicely.

stubbornforgey 12-15-2005 04:17 PM

LOL..
well excuse me .
humble apology
will never do it again ..

oh and btw

I agree with you on that one. But, if Tim Curry doesn't play Pennywise, then the movie wouldn't have anything going for it and I'd probably take a shit on it! :p

MisterSadistro 12-15-2005 07:00 PM

There's only one movie I want to remake for all the right reasons (and have half the script written already). If it ain't broke though, don't fix it.

hmm, by The Thing do you all mean the 1951 original - or the Carpenter remake??

my pick would the The Silence of the Lambs - i can see hollywood wanting to remake it at some point - with kirsten dunst and vince vaughn as clarice and hannibal - and maybe ashton kutcher could play buffalo bill. . .

oooh, good one! It's only a matter of time, but you just can't do that one the way it was meant to be again. Ever.

Great point.

First: Neither... I hear Newb's pleas (threats) and I aquiesce.

Second... I would march on Hollywood with a thousand raging horror fanatics strong to stomp the shit outta someone. Mark Silence of the Lambs up there with my sacred Exorcist.

Zombee 12-16-2005 09:42 AM

I dont mind remakes at all..ever. You just need to seperate the two movies, if it means that much to you it should be even easier to remember they are two different movies. I never understood the whole art-fag mentality surrounding remakes. Its really not as bad or serious as you might think.

lol - i can see the angry mob now :D

OctaviusHunter 12-17-2005 08:17 PM

poltergeist and nightmare 1 should not be touched both of them were wonderful and even though some great new visuals could be done with both of them, any higher tech would ruin them.

Get used to it.......change is inevitable. Upgrading doesnt just happen in technology. It happens in EVERYTHING. We......or more, YOU, cant do a damn thing about it. It changes with generations, and sorry to break the news sooooo early, it's gonna continue. MY GOD MOVE ON!!!! Bitch, if you must, but yet another news flash...............the producers, backers and actors, dont care. So see it if ya want. and dont see it if ya want, but it's gonna happen for this, the next, and the next generation. So they can continue to know where it all began.......because when they see the remake, they'll keep the originals alive. They'l wanna know where the remakes came from. See, you all see it as butchering classics........I see it as a learning experience for the deprived. The younger generation that sees it and finds out that "WHOA!!!!! This is a remake? I have to see the previous one, and the one before that", and so on and so on. So take heed.....Hollyweird, or any other moviemaking business could care less what you think. It will continue. And by all means, opinions are cool, dont get me wrong. But complaining gets someone else to want to prove you wrong. So I say, PLEASE continue complaining, I wanna see more remakes.:D

Good points...but they still better not touch suspiria or fright night;) :p

LOL. Well, okay...maybe "Fright Night" didn't make a huge impact...but it's my faaaaaaavorite:D Therefore, everyone's grubby fingers better stay away from it. :p

Nosferatu

Haunted 12-18-2005 05:56 AM

Haven't they already sorta kinda made a sorta kinda remake of Nosferatu? I think most people thought it was stupid too.

Moonlit, what's ol' Chris up to these days? I haven't seen him in many films.

AUSTIN316426808 12-18-2005 06:00 AM

Kairo

I saw him in a pretty bad murder-mystery type flick not too long ago. The Reaper, it was called. It was bacically a rip-off of Stephen King's tormented author stories.

Despare 12-18-2005 06:27 AM

You're kidding about Kairo right? Because it's already being remade, with the girl from Veronica Mars. I hope you were kidding because if not you're now dissapointed and won't go see "Pulse".

VampiricClown 12-18-2005 08:19 AM

-Halloween

-Nightmare On Elm Street

That's more than one..... But I thought both of these were great movies.

alkytrio666 12-18-2005 09:31 AM

How about Jaws?

Psycho shouldn't have been remade...I refuse to see the Vince Vaugh version.

No one should have touched that. Fucking stuck-up bastards.
