OK - so i'm playing basketball with some 'academic-types' the other day and in the midst of general chatter i mentioned something about 'not getting much work done since i'm always on HDC' - well, this starts a long conversation (mainly among them) about the effect of message boards on people and why people go on message boards . . . blah blah blah

ANYWAY, one of the points they insisted on was that people "go on messageboards/chatrooms because they can be different than they are in 'real life'" - no one knows who you are and you can create some new persona. . . .

SO, my question to the board members - how different are you in your regular life than you are here on HDC?

Having reached the age of 36 & not giving a sh*t helps alot. I was out to impress people in my 20s but it wasn't anyone's fault really. I had the car, the job, the girl, the apartment etc. What I found was that I didn't like myself. Then I lost everything.
So its been a slow & steady climb back from being virtually homeless. I have my own business with my family & while everything isn't "glowing" its growing. Having a lady who loves you helps alot.
So in answer to your question no I don't act any different accept I'am sane. :D I have a life & try not to spend hours here but sometimes its hard. One makes alot of friends on line but its all a matter of balance really.

I think i'm a bit quieter in "real life" - i often can't be bothered to say something since i figure no one's going to care what i think anyway. . . . but otherwise, i don't think i could act much different from how i am.

i'm the same, i don't put on fronts, not even in my job and sales is famous for bullshit! having said that, i say things here about myself i wouldn't tell most people in everyday life!:D

I dont think people aim to be different on msg boards. I just think people are more inclined to express their exact thoughts on the topic which is presented. Thats all.
