Your First Horror Movie

What was the 1st horror movie that really scared the crap out of you when you were young. You know the one that gave you nightmares when you were really little.. :D

I only started watching horror movies about three years ago, but when I was little, I used to be babysat by my next door neighbors, who were big horrorfreaks. They used to always watch the Child's Play movies, and, of course, I was scared shitless of Chucky (I was about 5 when all this went down). My parents knew about this, but for some reason, still made me go to their house. And yes, they hated when the babysitter's used to put in the horror flicks when I was there. It's still a mystery to me today, but it was one of those sparks that got the fuse going.

Facts: I remember always hiding behind the couch shriveled in a little ball every time I went over; The older brother had a Freddy Krueger doll that I was afraid of, but he got me over that fear, which is pretty ahocking because he was one of those kids who used to always pick on me and other little kids. I guess he had a heart after all.

That's my answer. The first one to scare me shitless was Child's Play.

There's always something about killer dolls that scares little kids like us. It's probably those cold, dead eyes they give us. Anyway, glad to hear that I wasn't the only pussy when I was little.

psiren 12-10-2005 01:23 PM

i must have been maybe 8 or so when i was allowed to stay up friday nights to see old Universal and Hammer films. funny not being scared by any of that stuff, guess i never believed it was real anyhow but vampire movies DID give me my first erotic awakenings very young;) that's what i saw and felt, not horror, i guess longing.
and yes tomorrow i'm seeing an analyst:D

KingSlug 12-10-2005 01:29 PM

Evil Dead. Nearly pissed my pants.

VampiricClown 12-10-2005 02:07 PM

haha, damn. I'm gone for 24 hours and there's like 15 new threads. Anyways...... None really. I think I may have been scared of the crypt keeper when I was 3. But that's about it.

Haunted 12-10-2005 03:12 PM

The Exorcist was the first horror film to scare me. However the first horror film that I actually remember seeing was A Nightmare on Elm St. and I fuckin' loved it.

I guess I can thank Robert Englund for my love of horror films. I loved him as Freddy. That film broke me in...if you catch my meaning.

First horror movie I ever saw was Halloween.

I've never really been scared by any of 'em but The Exorcist and Nosferatu spook me out a little.

Haunted 12-10-2005 03:59 PM

Yeah, I think that Nosferatu is going to give me the willies when I finally sit down to watch it. I'm thinking of the heroine in the film and what it'd be like to have that ugly sum-bitch fixated on me. Hell, Bela Lagosi wasn't Mr. Universe. (No offense to Mr. Lagosi)
