WWE reported earlier that Eddie Guerrero died late last night/this morning
:( :( :(

The STE 11-13-2005 02:14 PM

the only time I've been this shocked about a wrestler dying that I can remember was when Owen died. It still hasn't fully sunk in yet...

Haunted 11-13-2005 02:35 PM

Damn, and I was coming over here to make fun of wrestling. Oops.

Sorry for your loss, guys.:( It's very sad when an known figure dies. I am SURE he will be missed.:(

The STE 11-13-2005 02:37 PM

EDIT: Nevermind, wrong date

NECRO666 11-13-2005 02:43 PM

It's a good place to overdose on drugs, apparently.

The STE 11-13-2005 03:10 PM

Except Eddie'd been ostensibly clean for years

Never said anything directed at him. I was referring to trip's comment about athletes in general.

The STE 11-13-2005 03:16 PM

well, they could be indirectly responsible without it being an overdose

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051113/.../obit_guerrero
shite, he was only 38

GorePhobia 11-13-2005 03:23 PM

wow I am also completely shocked

kpropain 11-13-2005 03:43 PM

Steroids could have also played into it also...

cheebacheeba 11-13-2005 03:46 PM

I'm not a huge wrestling fan...I personally preferred the ol' WCW, but I have followed here and there. Guerrero was good, and always entertaining, to say the least.
Too bad his character went out as an asshole...
This is really unexpected, the guy looked totally fit. However, previous drug use can ALWAYS fuck you in the long run, especially when you exert yourself like he did. Ah well...R.I.P

Owen Hart went out in much the same way (although Eddie was in the midst of a face turn before he died)

No shit? I never heard about that.

That era of wrestling (late 80s early 90s) was awesome I was a huge fan.

stubbornforgey 11-13-2005 05:02 PM

holy shit ...miss elizabeth died ??
how long ago was that..??
I lost interest in wrestling when they chucked hulk hogan back in.

crazy raplh 11-13-2005 05:28 PM

damn that sucks

The STE 11-13-2005 06:04 PM

Raw and Smackdown will be tribute shows to Eddie. They taped them tonight, the matches will include Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle vs. Shelton Benjamin, and Ric Flair vs. William Regal, plus backstage interviews remembering Eddie. I don't know how they're going to divide up the matches, if they'll be on both Raw and SD or if Raw will have the matches and SD will show some of Eddie's matches

Despare 11-13-2005 06:44 PM

I watched the Eddie Guerrero story DVD the other day and it was really amazing how much he overcame... or I guess didn't but who knows. I hope he was clean.

scottingraham 11-13-2005 06:52 PM

A terrible loss for the wrestling world he will be missed! He was clean and had a change in life! :(

The STE 11-13-2005 07:10 PM

He had just told Chavo Jr. about how the 10th was his 4 year anniversary being clean the night before

ThePhantom 11-13-2005 08:18 PM

Wrestling will not be the same without Latino Heat. He was one of the best and will be missed alot

bwind22 11-13-2005 08:35 PM

He died 10 miles from my house. Both Raw and Smackdownm are in Minneapolis today for a 'supershow' (Basically they were just having two shows back to back.)

Sucks about Eddie. I'm glad he at least got a chance to reach the top before he passed away. It would have really been tragic for someone as awesome as him in the ring to pass without ever getting proper recognition.

pinkfloyd45769 11-13-2005 08:36 PM

I don't watch wrestling, but, it still sucks!! Sorry wrestling fans:(

The STE 11-13-2005 08:43 PM

I'mma go watch Wrestlemania 20 and have a good stiff drink...
:(

pinkfloyd45769 11-13-2005 08:58 PM

Can i have a good stiff drink even if i don't watch wrestling???

Apparently his low rider was on the stage throughout the Raw/SD taping.
And one of the reports said they did a video set to "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. Fucking harsh, man...

I'm recording it. I'm somewhat of a wrestling show packrat. Did the same thing with the Raw is Owen show.

The STE 11-13-2005 09:24 PM

It still hasn't sunk in. I doubt it will until the memorial show tomorrow.

...

AUSTIN316426808 11-14-2005 02:53 AM

I couldn't believe it at all. Went to yahoo to check my mail and saw it. Complete shock that hasn't really set in yet. I'm glad he got the title before he passed, he was one of the handful that had more than just ''the right look'' and a catchy gimmick. It's going to be a hard show to watch tonight, you'll definately be missed dude.

Viva La Rasa R.I.P. Eddie.

ThePhantom 11-14-2005 09:06 AM

lil something i came up with after hearing about Eddie's death

"The champion wrestler is neither selected nor born; he is self-formed.
Of course, the great wrestler possesses many admirable qualities. However,
there are four prime attributes I consider to be a must--hustle, attitude,
resolution, and desire (creating the acronym H.A.R.D.).
Let's take a deeper look at each:

HUSTLE-The outstanding wrestler hustles all the time. During practice, his
coach often has to tell him to take a break. Furthermore, this high-powered
competitor is forever searching for someone better to wrestle. He's never
satisfied with his performance and is constantly striving for perfection.

ATTITUDE-The superior wrestler has a positive attitude. He believes in
himself and his capabilities. When others say, "You won't," he quietly asserts, "I will".
The champion's total being radiates confidence.

RESOLUTION-The No. 1 matman illicits a most potent resolution. In truth, it
is the pitfalls which make him that much more determined to succeed.
He doesn't know the meaning of "quit."

DESIRE-The champion wrestler feeds on desire and perceives nothing less than
being the best. There may be more skillful grapplers around but his hunger for
victory will overcome them all. This winner believes in the adage,
"I might be outclassed but never outfought."

I am sure that everyone will agree it takes H.A.R.D. work to be on top. Oh
yes, some have furtively whispered, "The champ seems a bit insane."
However, none will ever forget his name.

If you ask me Eddie was H.A.R.D.

The STE 11-14-2005 07:12 PM

Fucking hard show to watch, but still a classy gesture

AUSTIN316426808 11-14-2005 07:19 PM

Totally agree, hard to watch but very nice.

The STE 11-14-2005 07:27 PM

and the matches were good, as I suppose Friday's will be also

The STE 11-14-2005 07:30 PM

though I think the "Legend Killer" stuff was a bit in poor taste

AUSTIN316426808 11-14-2005 07:35 PM

Yeah, it's rare to see really good matches on Raw or Smackdown anymore and you can't have crappy matches on the guy's tribute show.

I thought it was a little disrespectful that he didn't wear the shirt.

PR3SSUR3 11-15-2005 06:09 AM

Isn't wrestling just pretend fighting, like a staged pantomime you might take the kids to see?

What's its purpose?

Through deception, even more apparent to older fans?

What about pretend boxing, would that work?
