My favorite Slasher is Sleepaway Camp 2.

alkytrio666 11-01-2005 06:06 PM

Favorite slasher? Tie between Halloween and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974).

Probably Halloween, though. That movie defines "horror", to me.

slasherman 11-01-2005 06:22 PM

"Halloween" and "Happy Birthday to me"

noctuary 11-01-2005 06:42 PM

Halloween
Deep Red
Maniac (does this count?)

Xymphony 11-01-2005 06:44 PM

TCM, Halloween, Nightmare On Elm Street

Ýmpossible to decide which one better, very different but excellent ones.

I'm kinda partial to the Friday The 13th movies, but hey, you've just mentioned a cool little film there. "Happy Birthday To Me" was a decent flick. :)

No wya, dude. Always unrated for me and what's the "other music"? More popular mosuc other than the horror movie sounds? I'd rather have the horror music, it makes the movie more intense, especially the kill scenes. :)

The only thing I don't care for in that movie is all the "camcorder" looking clips throughout the film. Is that for a filler due to the extra gore that was censored, or is that just bullshit rumor? If there is an uncensored version out there, I want it. :)

I'm not sure I think they have added some crapy disco music or something

gorefreak 11-02-2005 05:22 AM

LMFAO! :D DISCO?! JEEZ! What a way to ruin a perfectly good horror film. I'll stick to the unrated version. :D

I say it's a horror movie (though it DOES fit into other genres as well)

Jacob Singer 11-02-2005 10:17 AM

For me two clasics: Halloween & Deep red.....I'm not very original

aramcheck 11-02-2005 10:40 AM

slasher movies usually bore me, they're usually the same stuff with pursuings lasting too long.
anyway, my favorite is Carpenter's "Halloween".
and the "Scream" trilogy was a great take on the genre, pure rollercoaster fun

ps: i don't think "texas chainsaw massacre" is a slasher, it's pure horror

The Mothman 11-02-2005 11:06 AM

probably High Tension

Scream? A "great take"? It's a spoof. :) I dunno about the sequels, but part 1....look at all the goofy scenes like the Freddy-dress-alike janitor aptly named "Fred". ;) And when Sidney wondered if Cotton was innocent and Tatum was like "Don't go there, you're making it sound like a Wes Carpenter flick or something". lol What cheese. :D I didn't mind "Scream" so much in the beginning and middle, but when Stuart and the video guy started talking about the murders versus motive and sub plots, it started going down hill from there. Not a shitty movie, but if it were taken more towards a creepier atmosphere and away from the comedy, it could've been a seriously frightening film.

stubbornforgey 11-02-2005 06:03 PM

Any Alfred Hitchcock movie
oh!! that had slasher bitd in it..

I consider it unique film making. House of 1K Corpses is a hell of a movie...I don't listen to Rob's music but I sure respect him as a film maker.

As I said, I don't really like the slasher genre, so maybe that's why I enjoy "Scream" so much. it's quite a parody of these movies, but still works as a slasher. And it's pure fresh air; maybe it could have been more frightening if they made it more seriously (anyway, it has its scary moments, like the well-known prologue), but we have more than enough "serious" slasher movies... why keep on doing the same boring material, if you can renew it?

You said it, as do I. I like the fact that he wants to bring the true art of making truly scary films. What I was wondering if those "cam clips" were "thrown in" due to all the rumors of Zombie's movie being too gory to be shown in theaters. If that is true, I'd love to get my hands on the uncut version.

I dunno.... "Scream" just had a little too much cheese in it. I suppose it would depend on who's directing the film. Nothing wrong with a little dark humor, but shouldn't get carried away with it. Any shmoe can get behind the camera and tell "the killer" to slash away, but it takes a good director to bring dismal scares from the screen into the minds of the audience. :)

KingKrueger 11-03-2005 11:48 AM

NOES Part 1, the only truely scary NOES.

Shut up.

Inspector Abber 11-05-2005 07:37 AM

Halloween is the best of the leading franchises. But the slasher movie that I enjoyed most was one you've probably never heard of - The Burning. It was made in thr eighties, i saw it on VHS then. Never seen it since.

Texas Chainsaw!!! None more brutal!!!

VampiricClown 11-05-2005 02:57 PM

I'm Gonna have to say either Halloween Or A Nightmare On Elm Street.

Posher778 01-07-2006 10:20 AM

halloween, i really had to think hard too.
for its time, halloween was like, THE scary movie to see. when thinking, only remembered some crappy choking kills, because that was how he killed most of his victims, and (correct me if i'm wrong), but he killed... 2? with the knife right? But then i remembered the ending sequences, and how jamie lee curtis stabbed him in the eye with the needle and all the chasing in that dark house, and the part when the kids said you can't kill the boogeyman and he ran out after them, and i realized how amazing that movie was. nightmare on elm street was scary too, a close second imo. it scared me when he called and taunted her about killing her boyfriend, and she unplugged the phone, and he called back and it still rang and stuff. I don't remember all the kills in the original noes though, i just remember the boyfriends.

as for ft13th, just a screaming gore fest after the 1st 2. what like 25 kills in the 5th one or something? jeez. i love those movies but they are bloody frickin impossible. the 3rd is the best ;)

has anyone seen the slasher called urban legends: bloody mary? my mom saw it and said it was very scary.

liebesspiel 01-28-2006 05:07 PM

Friday the 13th. Actually, I was gonna say Suspiria, but I don't consider it to be completely a slasher film.

phantomstranger 01-30-2006 12:06 PM

Psycho ( I like the classics)
