Land Of The Dead was depressing.
saw this yesterday and it made me sad that romero had to ruin the trilogy with this crap. The CGI was some of the worst ive seen, and the zombies in it were just stupid. talking to eachother and stuff. I actually found House Of The Dead a more enjoyable movie. not a better movie, but a more enjoyable one.

Is house of the dead that Video Game Movie?
I did not like this remake either. And i'm usually not too harsh on remakes. I give them a chance... This however did not keep me entertained. And just think.....They're working on a follow-up to this, hah! |
Uh, it wasn't a remake it was a sequel (actually it wasn't a real sequel it was simply taking place in the same world like Night/Day/Dawn) and I liked it. Zombies "learning" has been in the works since Day with bub, but then again not a lot of people liked Day and I thought it was a great addition to the series. I'm happy Land of the Dead came out and I'm happy we have another "Of the Dead" entry, I doubt the sequal will shine but I'm sure it will be in my collection anyway. House of the Dead was not funny, it wasn't gory, the acting and action both sucked... I don't get what people found "fun" about this movie at all. Oh well.

It was depressing because i waited 20 years for the ultimate zombie movie & we get that big daddy asshole. At least George had the bollocks to have proper zombies in the film not like the wankers you see in resi evil & the DOTD remake, they actually ate people & you saw it onscreen oldskool! There was none of this shit where you just see the zombi jump onto the victim & thats about it!

And "House of the dead" I thought was a joke at first, Oh wait, that was the acting! Quite humorous. |
I did not like LOTD. I thought it was interesting how the humans were considered the bad guys as they go out looking for supplies and destroying the "dead" population. Do we feel sympathy for the zombies, or not? In all the other "Living Dead" movies, the zombies were a threat. I mean at the end of the movie when someone else (cant remember who) is going to kill big daddy Simon Baker tells them not to because "they are only looking for a place to go" what is the deal with that?? I just thought it could have been way better than it was.

Apart from the crap about the zombies evolving & that twat roaring every time you saw him The make up for Big daddy was shite! I'm no pathologist but that assholes face was decomposed and the rest of his head looked like a polished bowling ball.

Dissapointing, dull, too much CGI, over-excited crap characters, and I will reFUSE to think of it as part of the old 'Dead' series. |
Compared to the likes of resi or dawn it was a bloodbath! at least the zombies actually ate people.
|
Zombie evolution I can deal with. They started it with Bub and it seems only logical that after an extended period of time, they would eventually figure out how to use basic tools and such.
What I had a problem with the zombie emotion. Big Daddy feeling pissed every time he saw another zombie suffering just bothered the shit out of me for some reason. It was so damn stupid it lowered my whole opinion of the movie. I hate to say it, but Romero needs this franchise right now before he does any more damage to it's credibility. |

When I hear the phrase "old school" when it comes to referring to zombies eating people, I just can't stand zombies on top of someone and it's like they're just on top of someone, moving all around. I wanna see organs getting ripped out and consumed like the original "Dawn" and "Day". One of the coolest gore scenes in "Day Of The Dead" has to be the guy's head getting ripped off and the Gereral's guts getting ripped out. I laughed my ass off when I read the article on how the pig intestines were frozen and left to thaw and they forgot about it. It went something like "after the scene, everybody ran away gagging." That's classic. :D

I really enjoyed the movie, although it is the weakest in the series. 4/5. I just didnt like big daddy too much, or the way zombies comunicated and the end line "there only looking for a place" or whatever, that was super lame. but other then those set backs it was really enjoyable. one of the better horror movies in years.

for some reason
I couldnt get into this movie...
was like when i was dragged along to see LOTR..I was jittery and just wanted to get the hell out of there. |
Even if a movie is crappy and it's filled with non-stop headpounding gore to make up for the quality of the storyline, that's fine with me. :)
|
You & me are in the same ball park mate,
only two rules in a zombi movie: they eat people & you have to shoot them in the head to kill them. something RESI & the rest of those shite movies forget so they can get there crappy PG13... |
Don't forget burning and shocked with gobs of electricity so you can watch their eyes shoot out of their skulls. :D Just once, I would love to see a fresh zombie come after an intended victim and see em take an axe and hack the zombie into 20 or more pieces, up close and personal! ;)
|
I really don't remember there being too much gore, besides that part where the zombie's pulling that guys organs out his mouth.

LMAO! :D Sorry, I thought you were referring to "Day Of The Dead" as like you might have forgotten some of the gore scenes from perhaps not seeing it for so long? :) I haven't gotten around to seeing "Land" yet. I hope the unrated version is a lot more gory "Dawn" remake.

Exactly how i felt after waiting for 20 years & Sitting thru Resi & house of the dead, i was expecting the Gone with the wind of Zombie movies. Maybe someone could resurect poor old Fulci, chuck him $20 million & see what he can do. |

I have to say, despite the rather hollywood feel of the movie, i quite liked it...
it was kind of an inevitable progression from zombies being a huge threat to being a more or less controlled population - kinda like particularly vicious animals? i didnt feel sorry for the zombies or anything, but it does draw a nice parallel towards how the human race treats any other 'substandard' species - control it, kill it, keep it down? anyways, i was pretty scared to watch the movie (didn't want to see romero crap out on it!) but was moderately relieved. could've been much much better, and yeah, whoever said the emotional response thing annoyed them, i'm with ya! they're freaking DEAD! i'll give them motion, desire to feed, some small brute intelligence, but emotion irritates me. |
