Ichi the Killer is excellent, a must-see. There's no supernatural horror element but it's incredibly gory. Lots of slapstick and a great villain who can do this cool trick with his jaw...

The director (Takashi Miike) also did Audition. Ichi is not quite as serious but just as good.

I saw this one a few months ago (on a bad bootleg VHS) and loved it. What a wild, wild ride!

I can't wait to buy the DVD.

I am just stunned, this movie is awesome
it's a typical japanese movie (no offence, really!!!)
it's actually verry mystical, sadisticly funny (knife in foot and shit like that)
you didn't even said anything about the end, where is the cut in the forehead and stuff, this is what makes the movie cool. you wanna watch it again to figure it out

but ahh, I can understand if you don't like it, it's like battle royale, most people hate it
if you're in the really demonic gore movie kinda thing then you'll hate it for sure

This is what makes me angry; I'm dying to see movies like Audition, Battle Royale, and Ichi the Killer but I never see them anywhere. Are they easy to find at Best Buy, or maybe can you find them at Blockbuster?

Battle Royale has no US release, but Audition and Ichi the Killer are fairly easy to find. I got them both at Blockbuster

watch it. It may seem like a boring sappy romance movie, but you should watch it nonetheless

I wanted to know if the US version of the Ichi The Killer DVD is uncut as the UK one is cut.

Battle Royale is everywhere in the UK, there's two versions.

yeah, there's an NTSC R0 of Battle Royale I've been looking for, the Progressive Scan one. Unfortunately, Poker Industries is out of them.
There's a cut version and an uncut version of Ichi the Killer in the US. The ones at Blockbuster are cut

i have a few versions of this movie and even the one in the U.S that is supposed to be uncut and advertised as being so, is still cut - the most complete version i have found is the dutch version and i'm pretty sure this is fully uncut.

Good film, many have heard about it.

I have the two disc collectors edition that has the anime film aswell.

Avoid the UK release, which is cut.

definitely not a horror film. but yeah, it's gory... but more in a fun kung fu movie kind of way. it's great and you should rent it.

Well after reading this i strongly recommend this movie for watching. Its enjoyable and very well done.

I didn't say it was a kung fu flick you fuckin idiot. I said the gore wasn't gore in the horror film kind of way, but more in a kung fu movie kind of way. like an anime. all spray-y and stuff. maybe I didn't make it quite clear enough. although I'm sure you probably consider yourself to be quite the expert, being as you have that dipshit as your avatar.

I wouldn't classify it as horror myself.

Battle Royale isn't horror either, but I personally liked it better, it didn't seem as flashy and hipster as Ichi.

to be honest Knight i think i took offence to what you said about it being kung fu blood style. But it doesnt matter because i was high last night. All i can say is i respect the movie alot. I think its because how realistic it is. And the way they managed to pull it off. But no disrespect knight. And battle royale is great i bought the book and am in the middle of it right now

How "realistic" it is? You ARE talking about Ichi the Killer right? Do you really think you can cut someone in half(vertically) with a blade that's only about four inches long?

The movie is based off of a manga and clearly keeps with the "manga" style of stylized "comicbook" violence and characterization. Some of the torture sequences DO look quite real, although in reality couldn't happen that way.

Not a bad movie(I liked it alot actually) but it is in no way (speaking of the OVERALL movie)realistic.

I'd rent it again.;)

Also in the section of movies that are not horror but appeal to horror fans because of the extreme nature are BATTLE ROYALE and BATTLE ROYALE 2-REQUIEM.Highly recommended.

I just saw this recently, and I have no idea why everyone likes it so much. First of all, I thought the guy on the cover was Ichi, but actually it was this crying pussy. I must admit i did like the main character guy, but here's what I despised about the movie.

1. terrible CGI.
2. No good fight scenes (I was waiting for the showdown against the main guy and Ichi, but it sucked ass, it wasnt even a fight.)
3. C'mon poeple, it was NOT as gory as everyone says it is.
4.**SPOILER** the main guy dies and that pussy Ichi lives....wtf is that??!!
5. Plot was too hard to follow.
6. The dubbed version is absolutly terrible! Their voices are dubbed with a british accent! WTF!
