Question for the DVD Collectors

Maybe I'm just a broke bitch, but I can't afford a 600+ DVD collection(although I wouldn't have a hard time choosing 600 DVDs to buy). Where's everyone's favorite place to buy up their goodies? Best prices I can find so far are the used DVDs on Amazon.

Moonlit Meadow introduced it to me, and now I'm passing it on...:

www.DeepDiscountDVD.com

Amazing prices. Seriously, you wont believe them. And free shipping.

Otherwise I think Best Buy stocks a pretty good horror DVD section for decent prices.

Best Buy & Circuit City - check the ads every week because new movies are sometimes cheaper one place or the other you really have to look. Also check www.deepdiscountdvd.com, www.dvdplanet.com (great critereon prices!), and for the hard to find ones EBay but beware of the evil bootleggers. Oh and by the way deepdiscountdvd has over 400 DVDs buy 2 get 1 free.

Bestprices.com has very, very low prices, but it can be hard to find things in stock, especially the more popular releases. Deep Discount is a good bet as well.

Netflix, just copy them and send them back

zomb5150 10-17-2005 08:10 PM

Deep Discount definitely, that's where I get all mine usually.:D

If you copy them then you're not a dvd collector you're a dvd watcher. I buy them so I get slipcases, cover and disc art, the real disc, and maybe even a decent resale value if I get something rare/special/oop... like I'd sell em.

I agree, I like the cases, art work and inserts that come with the original as opposed to copies.:)

speak for yourself, I don't do cheap ass "just write the name on the disc with a sharpie and stick it in a CD case" copies. Mine have the cover and the back and the design printed on the disc, etc.

It's the same as getting some of these "rare import DVDs" on eBay

Aaaanywho, I don't copy ALL my DVDs.

My point exactly. I've just been copying my netflix dvds so far and it's served me just fine, but I'd like to get an actualy collection going.

I sauce mine from various online retailers...

I'm currently into herb a parsley genre, but my try some onion source soon.

Methinks ShankS just woke up maybe? Hey there, hello you!

Well, if having bootleg DVDs means you don't have a collection, then collections can bite me (though, I don't buy into the "bootlegs =/= collection" thing, so w/e)

How does owning movies but not their cases considered "not a collection"?

GorePhobia 10-18-2005 03:45 PM

I either go to Best Buy when DVD's first come out and they are like 15 bucks

or I like to go to Game Stop

they have a sweet deal for 2 for 10 bucks

The_Return 10-18-2005 04:33 PM

The majorty of my collection, and check my DVDaf in my sig for proof, is made of of bargain bin movies. Zellers [K-Mart in the states] has some great bargain bins for those just starting out. Also, MGM discs are usually under $10, which is nice. To be honest, the majority of my collection cost less than $10:D
