Well, I finally caved in to the pressure and signed up for Netflix. I don't know how I feel about that really because when I want to watch something, I go rent it, then I watch it. I'm not accustomed to having to wait a few days for the movie I want to see so I hope it works out alright...

Anyways, the only reason I joined is because they have a few specific movies that I've been having trouble getting ahold of (Cannibal Ferox, Ichi The Killer & Changeling) so I can check those out, but since I'm signed up... I'm planning on checking out a lot more cool obscure shit that I probably wouldn't find at the local Hollywood Video store. Anyone have any suggestions?

Also, I'm gonna get The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, but I see they have two different versions of it... 1 is ancient, the other is a 60's remake. Which one is the version that everyone on here rants and raves about? (I'll probably get them both just to compare but I'm just wondering which one is the beloved one.)

Anyways, I've already queued up about 4 dozen films, but any one that's got any good suggestions would be appreciated. (If it's mainstream horror, the odds are I've already seen it. I'm looking for really, really obscure low budget stuff that's good or cool foreign stuff.)

I am pretty amazed at the speed in which they send and receive my movies.
...And I cannot think of anything to recommend right now.

No, it's like a dvd rental website. Everything is done online and by mail. No need to leave the house.

I don't do downloading anymore... I ran into a little trouble with that a couple years ago and decided it wasn't worth it.

No. Let me explain...

I go to their website and select as many DVDs as I want from their database of thousands. Then they mail me the actual DVDs and I have them for as long as I want (No late fees or return deadlines.) I could get on a 1 a day cycle where there is constantly one in the mail and I'd essentially be renting 30 DVDs for 1 low monthly price of $18.

Like I said, I had been opposed to this for a while because when I really want to watch something, I don't want to have to wait for it, but like I also said, I was a having a real tough time finding a few of these films (that they have ...and will mail to my doorstep for 1 low monthly price.)

That make sense?

I have an online membership at blockbuster and I really like it.
I think that You'll really enjoy an online video rental membership because it's a lot cheaper and because You'll be able to get the more obscure titles You can't find at the local video rental store.The last time I went to rent a movie from my local video store it cost me 4.23, I thought that was outrageous.

..:D I got it.....never tried it...I also like to get the movie right away...I rent alot in videostores....but they usually only got mainstream stuff....and then I buy some dvds and also download torrent files....I never watch movies on tv with commercials (spelling ? )

Well, I'm already growing leary of this Netflix business... Approx. 24 hours into my membership and I've already come across 3 movies I cant get from them. :mad:

They don't have The Eye, Monster Squad, or The Halloween That Almost Wasnt aka The Night Dracula Saved the World starring Judd Hirsch. That last one's really rare, so I'm not too surprised they don't have it, but no Monster Squad? Come on....

Didn't The Eye go OOP?

Also, Monster Squad either isn't out on DVD or hasn't been for a very long time, cause both Amazon.com and VideoETA don't have it

That's no excuse for them to not have a few copies laying around.

Hmmm... That's one film that needs a kickass Special Edition DVD to come out.

No, but it's an excuse for some douche without copying abilities to report it "lost in the mail" or something.

Anyways, I know for a fact that they carried it at one time cause that's how I saw it.

Wow that was quick! I signed up for an account and ordered my first 3 movies on Monday morning at about 2 am and by Tuesday afternoon they were in my mailbox! That's only a 36 hour turnaround! Color me impressed.

Not only that, but one of the three movies I got was Land of the Dead (Directors Cut) which only got released today (Tuesday).

I'm starting to like this Netflix more and more already!

Yeah, what Netflix lacks in selection (which isn't much) they make up for in getting it there fucking quick 99% of the time

I'll probably end up watching Land of the Dead 3 or 4 times before I send it back. I love no due dates or late fees!

The only time Netflix is a little slow=the weekend.
But other than that,I have always been impressed with their turnaround.

I hjave been using netflixs for about 3 years now. I have watched 1000's of horror cause of it is well worth the price.

I wsa signed up for Zip.ca, which is the Canadian answer to Netflix, for the free trail period of 2 (3?) weeks. I was doing a school project on Ed Wood, and I couldnt find any of his movies...got Plan 9, Night of the Ghouls, Bride of the Atom, and a documentary about him.


Anyway, it seemed like a great site, but for the amount of movies Id rent, it's not worth my money.

What program do you guys have ? 1 film a month or 2 films a movie, etc.

I have been thinking about signing up. But what is the monthly tax ?

I get 3 films at a time (Not a month) for 18$ a month. If you rent more than 3 or 4 movies a month, it's totally worth it.

If I watched them all as fast as I could and sent them in as fast as possible, I could probably get 50-60 movies a month for $18. Ya just can't beat that price...

I think to have 1 dvd at a time, it's $10 and for 2, it's like $15.

I pay $19.25 for 3 at a time,unlimited.

Did they raise it? It used to be $17.99.

No that's what it is still. I just signed up the other day for $17.99.

The $19.25 figure is probably after tax or something....
