Any musicians? if so, what instrument do You play?

I'm sure that there are some musicians here, I was just wondering what instrument or instruments You play.I am a Bass player myself and have been playing for about ten years, I play a Fender 5 string jazz bass through a 100 watt Fender Bassman.I currently don't own any effects pedals or processors, I haven't found any that I really cared for, maybe someone could recommend some.:)

Maerlyn 09-29-2005 08:17 PM

I am a vocalist in a prog-power metal band named: Celestial Asylum.

Deposable 09-29-2005 08:49 PM

Guitar (epiphone dot hallow body), Drums, Piano (Not good), and I am a good singer.

I am a solo artist. I am currently writing/recording a ablum. I am sure, any horror fans will hate it. But that means I am doing good  because metal sucks.

Maerlyn 09-29-2005 09:00 PM

Have you listened Symphony X ? If not, try their album "V, The New Mythology Suite" And reply here whether metal sucks or not.

Deposable 09-29-2005 09:08 PM

Sorry. Metal is not my Cup of tea. I don't have to listen too it, to already know that it is cliche, stereotypical, and just unoriginal.

Maerlyn 09-29-2005 09:18 PM

You are definitely wrong. Prejudice is sth bad, i think...
There are really creative metal bands, such as Opeth, Symphony X, (old) Dream Theater etc. You don't have to be a "metal-head" to listen to metal music. But anyway as you have said, its your choice...

It's kind of stereotypical to say that Horror fans would hate Your music, assuming that we (Horror fans) only listen to Metal.I don't listen to Metal myself and I'm a huge fan of Horror films.I wouldn't say that metal sucks, it's just not my cup of tea.I'm more a fan of bands like: Nirvana, The Cure and The Smashing Pumpkins.
I kind of like the Killers right now too.

I like Your guitar I think that the Epiphone Dot hollow bodies are really cool.

good luck with the Milli Vanilli tribute album. :D

alkytrio666 09-30-2005 03:36 AM

Guitar.

And I hate metal, for the record.

ItsAlive75 09-30-2005 01:07 PM

I play a crappy Ibanez gsa60 and an American Telecaster guitar. I used to play a 79' Gibson RD Artist bass, but I've decided to just hold onto it until its worth something, then I'll sell it. I play piano badly as well (its a totally new way of learning an instrument).

Hey, you might like my music. Besides my Milli Vanilli tribute album. But you just wouldn't understand the GENIUS of their music... Is it stereotypical, yes. But is it somewhat true, yes. If we took a poll of horror fans who like Metal. It would probably be 90% to 10%. Is it a stereotype then ? yeah... probably...

What guitar do you play (if you do), I can talk about instruments all day.

@ItsAlive, American Telecast ? what year ? Because the only thing "American" about Telecasters are the pick-ups. If your fender is made in Mexico... Mexican guitars are fucking awful. Buy guitars made in Japan. They are cheap but good.

If I had cash at all I'd buy better instruments, believe me.

By the way, you're recording, what are you using?

Tascam 4 track. Very simple stuff. I love 4 tracks... Well... recording would be much easier if I had a 8 track. But I get by. I use a program to edit my music called "Polderbits", it is the greatest computer program of all time. (www.download.com ) Easy to use program. you can EQ, Edit, and take out Tape buzz. I use Great microphones. Share mic's. That's probably why the sound comes out crisp & clear.

When it comes to recording, its not what you use. But how much you know. How to mic the instrument, editing, EQ'ing, balancing sound.

I had a program called Cakewalk, the thing was a godsend, SO easy to use. But anything's better than the Casio I've had since I was a kid (even though that thing is hilarious).

It took me a good couple months to get the instrument come through the mic right. But sound balancing's really easy to tweak on Cakewalk (although I think the program's 100+ bucks).

I play an american made Fender 5 string Jazz bass with active electronics, it is sweet.

Why would my opinion reflect the views of horror.com ? Haven't I made it clear that I ain't a stereotypical gothic, Metalhead, depressed, black hair, horror fan
;)

I am stereotypical in my own way. :D

ChEEbA 09-30-2005 11:00 PM

I'm a little rusty, but given time I know I could start playing as proficiently as I used to.
I started with the clarinet, as I was the only person in my class that could make anything other than a high pitched squeel come outta it...then moved on the the alto sax, and the cor anglais.
I played jazz for a school band, performed a few small local gigs.
Played mainly by feel - to this day, I cannot read music, without translating it. eg: writing the letters reprasentative of the notes, but it always worked for me.
I can also play the flute in theory, but cannot make a sound with it, so I stopped trying there...in fact, I haven't played any of these instruments for a while, I kinda lost interest, but I CAN do it.

Narg 10-05-2005 05:31 AM

I play guitar, some keys, bass of course.

Would love to begin learning the violin...just have to buy one first. ;)

SPLATTERGORIA 10-06-2005 04:03 AM

I play guitar in a Viking Black Metal badn called Citadel. I do vocals for a Satanic Black Metal Band called Black Goat. And I do vocals for a death/gore grind band that has yet to be named. To give you an idea of the way my voice sounds:

I can mimic the sound of octave effects
I can mimic double tracking
I growl like Tomb of the Mutilated era CC
when I scream it sounds like someone vomiting their entrails out
and if I wanted to I could be in a Type O Negative cover band as a singer.

Andonce we have a demo, Ill host it and link it somewhere around here.

Kitty 10-06-2005 10:00 AM

yea i do i play the piano

Dante'sInferno 10-07-2005 08:28 AM

Electric/bass guitar, Drums occasionally

Dude Guadalupe 10-08-2005 05:32 PM

I play guitar, bass, drums, I do some vocals too.

Nachtmahr 10-11-2005 11:45 AM

I've been playing the bass for 10 years in a couple of local amateur bands, from psychedelic jams to hard rock, mostly original stuff.

Just joined a keyboard-heavy pop/rock band (hehe :-)) and keep looking for an additional rather prog/rock oriented project.

My gear:
Aria Pro II MAB 60/5 5 string
Ibanez SR506 6 string

Marshall DBS4700 amp
4x10" Marshall cab
1x15" Behringer cab

Ibanez DP10 compressor
Ibanez DC10 chorus
EH/Sovtek Big Muff overdrive
Dunlop

I am a musician, and I play the electric guitar, keyboard/piano, drums and violin. I'm not in a band, and I want to keep it that way for awhile; I'm just having fun with music :) .

Elvis_Christ 10-20-2005 05:07 PM

On the other hand been playing bass for 20 years guitar for 21, I've played just about every kind of bass and guitar made and NOTHING beats a Gibson period, I own two Les Paul customs and a original 1964 SG with a mother of pearl tremelo...

Played in numerous amounts of bands over the years...

Elvis_Christ 11-17-2005 08:58 PM

I'd like to play a Thunderbird one day.

MsVoorhees 11-19-2005 04:54 PM

I are a vocalist and guitarist, i have a boring mexican fender stratocaster, midnight blue (yeah right more like purple, prefered though :) ) and satin finish. i've only been playing for like 2 years so yeah :)

Zifnab 11-19-2005 04:57 PM

I'm a bass player and have been for 2.5 years soon. and I am also a growler

13th Nightmare 11-22-2005 07:31 AM

I've played bass for about a year and a half, (in a band with MsVoorhees  ) and I used to play piano.

zomb5150 03-26-2006 10:23 AM

I just bought a guitar

I wanted to learn to play the electric guitar...so I bought one yesterday, It's a Squier Jagmaster by Fender (a cross between a Fender Jaguar and a Jazzmaster).
I paid about 250.00 for it, It's just something to start out on.
If it turns out that I can't to play it I won't lose too much money.

Wish Me Luck:D

VampiricClown 03-28-2006 09:09 AM

I can play some Guitar, Keyboards, Drums, my girlfriends going to show me how to play flute and I'm learning to play Bass for a Shock Rock band I'm in called: Psychopathic. I'm also a somewhat decent singer.

Posher778 03-28-2006 01:33 PM

Well... everyone plays something different than me. Trumpet, piccilo trumpet, e flat trumpet.... etc.

novadawn969 03-30-2006 11:58 AM

I'm exploring possibilities in the musical world. Currently playing trombone and learning bass and piano. I used to play cello but I don't own one, so its kinda hard. Took a shot at theguitar too,but I'm more of a bass clef girl. Have you ever heard any rock or metal songs played on trombone??? I thought not. Its kinda funny sounding but still fun! :D Wow, I'm a loser!

Indighost 03-30-2006 12:58 PM

I play an Ibanez JEM, not because of Vai but because its an awesome guitar. I sing aswell, but its not anywhere near as good as my guitar playing (link below)

Megadeth!
