Is This REALLY An 'Obligation'?
 

Have you guys ever felt like you HAD to do something, just because someone else wanted you to?


My mother has BEGGED me to go to an Astrology Class with her tonight...She insisted that Seri go, too...Neither of us WANT to go...But, we both know that it would piss her off if we refused...My mother REALLY wants to go, but she will not go alone...


I'm sure you guys have had to deal with some 'forced obligations', too....Do ya just grin and bear it, and tell yourself that it won't last long?...That's the only way I know how to deal with my mother......And Seri is REALLY pissed...

All the time! But only for close friends and family. I just suck it up and keep repeating "It's not going to last forever".

I will sometimes do things like that. If it makes the person happier, and if it's a person I want to make happier, then sure.

But if it's some jerk I'm fed up with....well, to put it simply, no way, no how! Contrarywise!

Example: "Heyyyy, let's get together for lunch so I can psychologically abuse you and waste your time because I'm angry at the world because of something traumatic that happened to me when I was six, I am such a victim, boo hoo hoo, now surprise!, I will make you a victim too, because it supports the idea that I have power in my life, and in doing so I am also taking the role of my abuser in a futile effort to make myself feel better about what happened way back then, oh God I hate being meeeeeeee."

Response: "Sorry, I have booked the time to process my own childhood traumas. Go away."

I go to work everyday so I can buy food to keep myself alive... to make a few other people happy.

My "girlfriend" wanted to go camping in a tent this summer and i got my worst fear confirmed..... I´m NOT a happy camper.:(

Hated everything about it really...

We must have posted at the same time. I guess I sould have been more Clear. I was talking to BR. LOL!! No Tent. BUT Hell on earth for sure!! My Past crap Guilts my into alot of Comitments. Very hard for me............I'm a Rebel. I get off on Shocking people. Wear what I want, Say what I feel and go against the grain. Keep it real. With me what you see is what you get. LOL...The way we (Seri and I) DRESS embarasses her....And she STILL begs us to go with her......Don't think that'll work...lol...But, thanks for the suggestion ;)

I had an ex that loved to camp and I was talked into going a couple of times. Trust me, I am not a happy camper either...lol...I was pretty much miserable each time the entire time. I would be okay, except we have a lot of bugs and humidity in Georgia. :eek: Not pleasant.

I get roped into doing things I don't want to do all the time, for friends and family. I'm a pushover though...lol..I have always had trouble just saying no.

Keep it up, you're doing a great job;)

If you TRY to say "no" to my mother, she just gets MORE persistant and irritating....You CAN'T say "no" to my mother....Looks like 'grin and bear it' is my only option...

Yeah...there's things I feel obligated to do...

Like make nice with my mothers latest in the long line of deadshit boyfriends, even though seeing the same old "signs" right from the word GO. Then I feel obligated to listen to her shit when they ditch her ass, as though I'm NOT thinking how much of an idiot she is... :rolleyes:
That's all anyone really ever pressures me into...knowledgeable of doing so, or not.

Funny, my mother is exactly the same way. Actually she just doesn't hear the word no....ever....LOL. Selective hearing ya know? ;)

We didn´t have insect problems.

I just hated to raise the tent, take it down, lie in it, the shared toilets, the shared bathrooms. I hated the climate inside the tent that was either too hot or when it rained it was......well..... Not dry. And most of all i hated the noise around us. One place we were lying next to a road where all campers had to walk/drive by and another place we were lying next to a small airport (7am-22pm) and a football field with some nice sprinklers that started in the middle of the night.... To me it was a living nightmare.

It might have been fun if i had been together with 5 party/drinking buddies. But i can´t recommend it to new couples who wants to spend a romantic vacation together. :(

I live with 2 guys, but all the bills are under my name. The rent, the heat, the cable... all gotta get paid by me. Not because I don't trust them, I just said I'd do it cuz I'm the only one in our apt. with a truck.

So its a lot of shit added onto my plate of work and school.

Well...I gotta go 'do my time' now...She also wants to get there 45 minutes early "to get a good seat"...*sigh*....I'll catch you guys later...If I live through this....

But,
Sometimes it turns into a pretty cool something.
Recently-
Had to go on a river tour recently---wooooohoo
But,I saw alligators 2 feet in front of me,piles of birds,a raccoon hanging so close from a branch I could have reached up and touched it.Learned about all the medicines that the Indians used from plants I see everyday.


So,go the astrology thing-you might see an alligator!!
