fav none horror movies

yeah i know its a horror bord but i think it would be interesting to see what other movies everyone else here likes.
donnie darko, the virgin suicides, ghost world ,requiem for a dream, vinilla skyand schindlers list just to name a few.

jenna26 08-21-2005 08:28 PM

Um, let's see.....Fight Club, Trainspotting, A Streetcar Named Desire, Rebel Without A Cause, American History X, The Usual Suspects, Goodfellas....these come immediately to mind. But my favorites change regularly and I just know I am forgetting a couple I should mention.

The STE 08-21-2005 08:29 PM

just click the link in my sig, and ignore the horror movies on the list

AUSTIN316426808 08-21-2005 08:35 PM

For starters

and...

-Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
-Four Brothers(as of earlier today, great movie imo)
-Sin City
-Batman Begins

These aren't my 4 all-time fav. just what I thought of to put at the moment.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a good pick, I love that movie.:) Haven't seen the other three recent picks there, cause I almost always wait for DVD. And I am waiting patiently for Sin City....or as patiently as I ever wait for anything...

All the Eastwood stuff aside it's my fav. movie.

I totally get the thing about waiting for dvd because theatres are expensive and even worse the cellphones,ADD patients, morons with their feet up on your seat ect. ect. I had to go through a bunch of crap today when I saw Four Brothers.

MoonLit Meadow 08-21-2005 08:57 PM

Eternal Sunshine..., Shawshank Redemption, As Good as it Gets, What About Bob?, Garden State, Breakfast at Tiffany's, I Am Sam, Million Dollar Baby, American Beauty, Lord of the Rings (all 3 of them) ;), Bridges of Madison County, SideWays, When Harry Met Sally, Forrest Gump, One Flew over the Cukoo's Nest, To Kill a Mockingbird....that's all I can think of right now:)

And just about anything with either Jack Nicholson, Tim Robbins, Kevin Spacey, or Bill Murray ;):D

I was waitin while my truck was gettin' worked on, so I actually read Entertainment Weekly, and they had a 4 page article on how theatres suck now. It was actually pretty good, they ran through the top 10 theatres in the country, not suprisingly more than half of those 10 won't allow anyone under the age of 4 years old inside.

Theatres are losin' tons of money now too, the article was saying that in a decade or so theatres could be almost nonexistent.

Yep, see I love all three of the Lord of the Rings movies, Shawshank Redemption, Garden State, American Beauty and To Kill A Mockingbird.

Also: Animal House, Dazed and Confused, Dead Poets Society and While You Were Sleeping (no one give me any crap about the last two, okay? ;) )

#1 movie in the country(40 year old virgin) only made 20 million, last week when 4 Brothers took the top spot it only took in about 32 million....Point is they aren't making anywhere close to what they used to make, the only movies really making money are ones like Batman,Harry Potter and other highly popular things like that.

Ridiculous prices, people talking, babies crying, stupid kids and sadly sometimes adults kicking your seat and putting their feet up ect. ect.

Now watcing a movie in a theatre is a better experience than at home(at least imo) but when you throw all the bullshit with it I'd rather make my own cheap popcorn, grab a beer and pop a dvd in.

Theatres do suck. I went to see The Skeleton Key and thought I was going to end up in jail for homicide before those couple of hours were up.:D

And besides, where I am at, we have a Baptist church that actually can keep movies from being shown here. And that pisses me off. Land of the Dead didn't even make it here locally.

Everything makes it in the next county over.....but the county I live in....pffft....Pulp Fiction, Natural Born Killers, Philadelphia (which really, really pissed me off), and a few others were kept out...Land of the Dead just being the latest....

But get this, oddly enough, American Psycho was allowed in....I actually went to see it. Explain that one! And it was great....people were getting up and running out. :p

OMG! ;) That's just craziness girl....you need to move up here! Liberalize yourself ;)

BTW, I have nothing against the south or anything, it's just amazing to me how different parts of the U.S operate. Each state is like it's own little country :)

My best friend lives in TN, and the stories I hear about stuff like this from him....they blow my mind...it just doesn't go on up here...I guess you get so used to your surroundings sometimes, you forget that not everyone lives the way you do...so it's pretty interesting to hear how things are in diff. parts of the country:)

Didn't take it the wrong way at all, I was just saying you must not have been to New Orleans if you think you can't liberalized yourself down here. Two words...Mardi Gras, barring any capital punishment crime you can pretty much do whatever you want.

It is an intense film. Very raw. Good to see you've got good taste

orangestar 08-22-2005 04:12 AM

You all have very good taste, I must say.

Top 5:
-Fight Club
-A Clockwork Orange
-Eternal Sunshine....
-Shawshank Redemption
-American Beauty

Others would include Love Actually, Labyrinth, anything with Kevin Spacey/Ed Norton/Bruce Willis. Except Unbreakable. That sucked ass.

The_Return 08-22-2005 04:18 AM

Lots...

X-Men [Both]
Hellboy
The Fugitive
K-Pax
Sin City
The Godfather
Big Fish
Mars Attacks!
Ed Wood
League of Extraordinary Gentelmen
Office Space
Eternal Sunshine
Dick Tracy
Back to the Future
The Frighteners

I guess thats enough for now.

SPLATTERGORIA 08-22-2005 04:21 AM

Clerks
Beetlejuice
Sin City
Kids
Gummo
Bully
SLC Punk!
Requiem for a Dream
Die Hard 1- 3
Lethal Weapon 1-4
Pulp Fiction
Pi
Howard Stern's Private Parts
Cheech & Chong's Up in Smoke

I like movies that make you feel like shit after you get done watching them, but then you NEED a good comedy or a slasher flick right after.

I was really disappointed with the way he decided to end it...and I don't wanna spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it (though you're not missing much, in my opinion) ;) But yeah...there was alot more potential than the route he chose.
