Theater behavior

So last week the lady and I go to see the Devils Rejects. I have been anticipating this film for some time. I mean if TCM is the holy grail of horror this to me is going to be the ark of the mother fukin covenant.

Needless to say I loved it. It was everything I wanted in a horror film and more. I know some may disagree but that is for another thread.

Anyways, I like to go to the theater on a weeknite. Less sheeple there to deal with and all the kiddies that are in bed for the night.

We pick out a nice spot, I put my feet up open up my raisinnets and dump in the popcorn. Chocolate and salt go so well together.

This theater probably will seat about 150 so why the fuck when there are only 10 people in the theater do they have to sit so close to each other. One couple behind me and 2 in front of me. Just like sheep huddling in the pen. Safety in numbers I guess, or so they thought little did they know the wolf in sheeps clothing. Kind of like sleeping with the enemy so to speak.

Film starts, I enjoy, and then......cell phone behind me goes off. I ignore. and again. Again I ignore. and again.

My lady turns around and asks the young lady to shut her cell off. Her reply is something about text messaging and something about my lady should mind her own business.

Aggravation sets in and the sleeping dragon is waking. Again with the ringing.

Against what little judgement I have, the dragon is now fully awake and ready to breathe fire.

I stand up and turn around, and say "listen bitch if you dont turn that fukin phone off, whats happening on the screen is going to be happening right now in this theater."

Dragon is back in the lair, and all is quiet now. And as for the lasses knight in shining armor??

Hope it wasnt their first date, if it was there wont be a second unless she likes a guy that wets himself in the face of evil.

Just thought I would share.

Right on, brother. I can't stand inconsiderate jerks like that. Some people are so damn rude, and they get away with being that way because nobody has the balls to stand up like you did and call them out.

urgeok 08-01-2005 05:43 PM

when i saw the 1st spiderman, some child abusing 'young parents' brought their 2 year old and 2 4 year olds to the theatre .. because they didnt want to do what i did - shell out
money for a babysitter.

so the 2 year old screamed through the 1st hour of the film - terrified.

with a few min to go the mother thoughtfully removed the child.

so i spend $80 to see this fucking movie to have it ruined by some fuck who didnt have the same consideration ..

Candyman 08-01-2005 06:07 PM

When i went to go see the new Amityville Horror with a good freind. As mentioned above I like to pick a date and time when the movies will be slow. So we missed the 5:00pm showing and went to see the 7:00pm showing and keep in mind the movie is rated "R" and and the rule in that theater(as in most) that children under 6 are not allowed in rated R movies after 6pm. So my friend and i find a good seat we look around not to amny people. So just before the move stats a family walks in with 2 kids one of the kids is like 2-3 and the other 6-7. And they decide to sit right behind us. Then a few minutes after the movie start comes the young teens/preteens. then during the first 15 min of the movie more of then come in and the first group is like yelling "were over here" and that kind of stuff. then the 2-3 year old kid with the family starts asking all these dumb questions to the parents and being so young he just talked loud and would not shut up. The theater needs to enforce it rules.

LilMissScareAll 08-01-2005 06:43 PM

People are always rude in the theater...huge, tall people sit in front of me, or people with wild crazy hair. Little kids sit behind me and kick my seat. And there's always a screaming baby somewhere.

Babygurl20 08-01-2005 07:05 PM

It just so happens that everytime I go to a movie, there will always be this group of kids that think they have to yell out stupid remarks as the movie goes along. This pisses me off so badly. Why pay all that money to just go and run your mouth to a fuckin movie screen and ruin everybody elses experience
Also, there's the jerks who feel like they have to get up and down every few seconds during the movie and walk right in front of the screen. Sit your ass down and watch the fuckin movie............PLEASE!!!

RavageRitual 08-01-2005 07:26 PM

I agree, im 16 yrs old but when i go to see a movie, i go to see it not cause a huge inconsiderate scene that everyone else does, it pisses me off, I wish I had the Balls you do though to tell people to shut the hell up.

Next person I see in a movie who doesn't have the courtesy to turn their phone off, and it rings, I will personally shove the fucker up their ass. It's ALWAYS some little 15 pound half dressed bitch that I could (and would) break in half...I'm never nice to people fucking up my movies.

yeah, it is pretty sad when you have to take a xanax or valium before you go to a movie just so you won't blow the fuck up on somebody....*sighs* :(

jenna26 08-01-2005 08:05 PM

Actually this is one of the reasons why I don't bother to go to the theater to see movies anymore. I'd rather wait for DVD and relax at home; I can pause and I am not bugged by obnoxius people.

MTC...sorry to hear it was such a bad experience...glad you stood up for yourself though. Some people never learn until somebody puts them in their place. Ignorant fools :p

As a side note...it always amazes me how parents are so willing to take their children to R-rated movies. When I went to see Land of the Dead, I couldn't believe the number of children there were in the theatre. Naturally they started crying, and ruining it for everyone...the parents had the nerve to tell them to "SHUT UP". It's like...how did you expect your children to react to a zombie movie? Did you think they would giggle with glee? ;) Of course they're going to scream/cry etc...so don't then sit there and tell them to shut up. BAH. People suck :D

Ritualistic 08-01-2005 10:11 PM

yeah theatre behavior bugs the shit out of me too

Yes indeed this is the reason I dislike to attend the theatre as well. Like a few people mentioned above I usually wait until a movie is released on DVD.
I also like to go on weeknights because I dont like the huge crowds during the weekends. I also attend the latest show possible. BUT recently when I went to see LAND OF THE DEAD I had the "people wanted to sit around me" experience. There was maybe 6 or 7 total in the theatre but 3 wanted to sit behind me. So I sit there looking back giving them a WTF look and I tell my friend outloud "Shit they must like us" Of course the retards just sat there LOL

Elvis_Christ 08-01-2005 10:20 PM

I haven't been to the theatre in ages. Its usually to packed and annoying for me..... and like you guys have said I hate annoying weird people sitting by me.

MisterSadistro 08-01-2005 10:32 PM

I cried at 'Land of The Dead' when I saw what George Romero had done to his franchise :D

I know how you feel. I didnt let it get me hyped up because I had a feeling it was dissapoint me. It has some great kill scenes and I love the fake out that Dennis Hooper`s character does. That was funny as hell

MisterSadistro 08-01-2005 11:21 PM

Even worse, I get 11:30 phone call to see it at 12:01 with my buddy who is a fanatic. I rush over there, get there before them, show's now sold out and he couldn't get in. Top it off with one of the worst films I''ve seen in ages. Looked like a 'Road Warrior' ripoff to me.

Elvis_Christ 08-01-2005 11:34 PM

It finally opens over here on thursday. I've heard mixed reveiws so I'm not building it up to much for myself.

MisterSadistro 08-02-2005 12:13 AM

I wasn't going to go at all. I only went because of my buddies and they weren't even there.CK

Elvis_Christ 08-02-2005 12:25 AM

At least it got you out of the house I spose.

MisterSadistro 08-02-2005 12:38 AM

I would've gone out to sit with them at a pub before I went to see 'LOTD' (which of course they did while I suffered through film alone  )

Elvis_Christ 08-02-2005 12:56 AM

Might have been a better movie after some beers.

Elvis_Christ 08-02-2005 01:28 AM

I'd rather have a movie ruined and an unknown girl momentarily insulted than make my child fatherless.

you might want to pick your battles better.
i would wait to help someone being physically assaulted
before playing hero...

I've not stuck up for people I don't know, as I care more about my own and the people I'm with, viewing pleasure when at the cinema.

Quite a few times I've told people to shut up, and I'll get a few mubbling insults then quietness unsues.

Yeah - here in New York you might get your ass shot - even if its like some 12 year old punk - he and his buddies might pull out a 9 mm and kill everyone in the stinking theater. Ahhh, what happened to the days when you could intimidate some little bastard with size and aggression alone and not have to fear an armed response.

EXTR3MIST 08-02-2005 07:53 AM

Are you bigger than 9mm?

EXTR3MIST 08-02-2005 08:25 AM

Yes.

ItsAlive75 08-02-2005 08:30 AM

I went and saw 28 Days Later with a couple friends the night it came out. About ten minutes into the film this group of about 10 to 12 African American girls are screaming at shit that isn't scary. And I don't mean like, not scary to me. I mean nothing is happening. Someone is running, or a door gets opened. And they would scream really long and loud, for about 30 seconds... and its starting to annoy the shit outta me. So it gets to that part where it reads "28 Days Later" across the screen and they start saying... sorry, screaming it out loud. So I just shout, "Shut the fuck up", and in unison they go "YOU shut the fuck up". The entire theatre goes off on em', I think I heard one guy yell "Go back to your cave". But it made me feel good that theatre patrons would verbally rip some kids apart like that. Go America!

If my destiny involves going down because of a 9mil, so be it. I'll take it like a man and go out fighting. I'm not afraid to die. And I damn sure wouldnt do it cowardly. I live my life so that there are no regrets. And if my last act on this planet involves saying "Fuck You" up a barrel, I can deal with it.

how would your kid deal with it ?

i think you missed the part where i said 'pick your battles' (wisely)
i wont die for a dog or an insult ... i think my humanity is intact.

humanity isnt lost when you become a parent - obviously.
but you are expected to become a better thinker...

your compassion should start with your children.
If someones life was at risk ..i'd try to do something if there was a chance that i could make a difference ...

but other than that - i have other people who need me to be around..

friday13thfan 08-02-2005 09:01 AM

when i went to see Darkness (sucked) i was the only one in there besides one or two adults, I was enjoying the movie then all of a sudden this family with 3 kids around the ages of 2,5 and 4 come in. at first they were ok sittinbg behind me and did not make a sound then the one wanted candy, the other was crying and the final one was screaming its fucking brains out...I kindly asked them to try to quiet down their kids cause it is ruining the moive for everyone else. The mother just curled her lib at me.. I stayed there for another 5 mins before i walked of their. That was the only time i ever walked out of the movies cause of assholes like that

That's kind of different than what you're talking about though. There's a difference between people who risk their lives to save others and people who "bravely" go down fighting after someone pulls a gun on them.

What you're talking about just seems to be blind fearlessness.
