Step Aside Bruce Campbell...

Step aside, BC... There's a new low-budget horror dude in town... And it's me! :D

Just thought I'd let you all know that I auditioned for , and got, a medium sized part in a minimal budget horror flick filming up here in Minnesota next month called The Cabin. This'll be my first time trying my hand at acting (I've done some directing before though), but being that it's a low budget slasher flick, I don't think my lack of ability will be too big of a problem.

We are hoping to get on a few festival circuits and in the best case scenario, get the film straight to video at Blockbuster. In any event, I'll get a copy of it and I'll try to figure out a way to make it available to you guys on here to see.

:)

You all better kiss my ass right now because in a year from now, I'll be too big of a star to talk to any of you. :p (Just kidding.) Even on the non-existant chance that this film did launch an acting career for me, I'd want to be one of the cool stars that actually cares about, and talks to, their fans. (Like Bruce Campbell, Casper Van Diem, Giovanni Ribisi, and John Travolta do. Yes! Travolta will write you back if you send him a letter. I did it in high school for a project and he sent me a typed letter regarding his upcoming projects and an autpgraphed picture that I didn't even ask for! Very cool of someone of his stature to still be doing that sort of thing.)

Anyways.. The Cabin...Keep an eye out as I will be keeping everyone updated while we film.

Hey! If it gets erleased, maybe my good pal StaciLayne will review it for me! (Assuming she's not holding a grudge from when I said she should get fired of course...)

lol

Thanks, but don't even get me started on Michael Bennett. He is almost as over-rated as Favre is!!!

They always talk about him like he's awesome, but in reality the dude has a fucking glass jaw... er... leg. Seriously, he gets hurt within the first few games of the year every single season.

Oh well, it's better for the Vikes that way because when he is in, he doesn't do shit anyways. It'll be good to see him go down in week 2 or 3 this year because with Onterrio out for the year, that'll give Mewelde Moore a chance to shine. That dude is the NFL's best kept secret! He is extremely explosive! I can't wait 'til he's our starter. (If history is any indicator, I won't have to wait too long.)

Spammer? lol It's not my movie and I didn't even post a link. lol The only thing I'm whoring out here is myself and my own impending superstardom. lol :D

Anyways, I haven't even read the script yet, so I'm not sure if it'll be a classic or not, but I hope you're right!

bwind22 07-26-2005 11:49 PM

Okay, well here's the first update. I just got my copy of the script via email and I was surprised that it was actually not too shabby. (I just hope he has some good ideas to pull off all of the gore effects he wants to do.)

I have already hit my first major snag though. Along with the script, I got my first glimpse of the filming schedule and I was kinda disheartened to find out that I have a wedding on one our main days of shooting. (And it's a cousin too so it's not like it's a wedding I can skip very easily. ) I emailed the guy who's directing and I'm hoping that he can either shoot around me that day or possibly reschedule that days shoot for me... :( Otherwise, I don't know... I can't really skip the wedding... I hope this works out.

Ya know, now that you mention it... I don't even think there was a female character in the script. lol

It's 4 guys that go to the cabin. The killers a guy. And the other 2 characters are guys too. Hmmm 9 guys.... Sounds kinda gay now that I think about it...

Uh oh.... What have I gotten myself in to?

lol

My humble advise would be to skip the wedding. This could be your big chance Bwind.;) :)

That would probably be my first option, but like I said... It's my cousin. And like I didn't mention, I have the type of family that wouldn't ever let me forget that I skipped her wedding to be in a cheesy horror movie.

I'm still waiting to hear back from the director to find out if this is something we can work around.

Angra 07-27-2005 03:52 AM

Bwind......... Your family SUCK!!!

Just kidding, but............. not really. ;)

bwind22 08-04-2005 07:49 PM

The next 3 days are my first three days of filming. I'll update ya'll on the progress made after the weekend. (Actually you'll probably see me online during the day tomorrow still. We aren't shooting until nightfall tomorrow.)

I might even take a few behind the scenes pictures to post if I'm sober enough to remember to do it.

My character's name is Matt Murphy and I think the death scene sounds pretty sweet.

Yep. For authenticity purposes, the beer and blunts are real.

It's not like we will be falling down drunk. Probably more of just a good buzz, but we will definitely be legitimately fried.

ItsAlive75 08-05-2005 12:55 PM

At least you'll be more comfortable.:D

FILMING UPDATE #1 -

Okay, well I just got shooting my first weekend of filming, (My 1st, the films 2nd. They shot other scenes last weekend that I wasnt in.) and I must say... We had a blast. We didn't even get to the kill scenes yet but we made a lot of progress and drank a lot of beer. (I got to "puke" all over this guy, which was a pretty entertaining scene to shoot. Probably not for him though. lol)

We are hoping to be done filming by mid-September but then there will be all of the post production stuff. Bottom line is that it will probably be out some time in early 2006.

We're hoping to have an actual theatre premiere at a local independent theatre, as well as getting it into a few festivals and if eveything goes right, maybe even straight to video at Blockbuster & Hollywood as well as being available on Netflix. (At least those are the aspirations of the director. Some or all of them may not ever come to fruition.)

The killer looks pretty cool and this guy that's directing knows what he's doing. It's his first feature length film, but he is taking it very seriously. I was also a bit surprised that the budget was quite a bit higher than I was initially thinking. When I was told this was gonna be low budget, I was expecting some dude and a camcroder. When I got there, I came to find out he has about $8000 worth of equipment that he owns and a 6 person crrew in addition to the actors. Needless to say, I had underestimated his definition of low budget.

Anyways, that's it for now. I'll update ya'll again after we shoot some more.

bwind22 08-26-2005 09:32 PM

Alright, second update....

We had our second (Well, my second, the film's third) weekend of filming and I gotta tell you this is going way better than I ever imagined. Last weekend we shot 1 of the kill scenes (Not mine) and I think it's gonna turn out pretty sweet! Lots of blood. :D

On top of that, this "low-budget" director just bought himself a greenscreen so that puts the budget of his "no budget" film up to about $10,000.

All in all, it's going really well and I think I'll be pleasently surprised with the final product because the dude that's directing it is really taking it seriously.

Anyways, like I've said a bunch, once it's ready to roll (Right now it's tenatively scheduled for a late January release.) I'll try to make it available to ya.

Oh yeah, the director's name is Garrett Gardner and this is his first film, but like I said he takes it very seriously and as far as I know, he intends to make it his career. I told him to check out this site so if someone show sup talking about their film The Cabin, he's not a spammer, just a friend I told to check out the site.
