Worst Music Genre?

Personally i hate emo. The most. Out of. Anything.

I also dislike country and christian music. But the rest i basically like. Not screamo either..*shudders*

bwind22 07-16-2005 07:13 PM

If it's quality music I can pretty much get into anything... except country. Country sucks.

But then again, I like some Johnny Cash, so I guess even Country can be done right.

MoonLit Meadow 07-16-2005 07:45 PM

If I'm being honest...I'd have to say rap/hip-hop....not all of it, b/c I listen to some...but I just feel like so much of it is pointless garbage spewed out to make a buck...and so much of it is degrading...to ALL types of people...that I just can't get into it.
Of course, there's good and bad in everything...so it's not really fair to pick apart one genre...but overall, yeah...I'd have to say it's my least fav.

I might also add that my response was probably way longer than it needed to be.... ;)

ItsAlive75 07-16-2005 10:05 PM

Some hip-hop is good, all gangster rap is bad...

Some emo is good, some Christian music is good (Switchfoot). I just hate rap and that dance music... it takes no skill to be one of those singers.

Deposable 07-17-2005 02:17 AM

I hate Rap... Rap had a lot of promise in the beginning... than the whole scene became a image just like Punk. 1980's New York Hip-hop is good.

FUCK TECHNO! Techno is not even fucking music. Its phony pretend bullshit.... Fucking Germany

hellfire1 07-17-2005 02:29 AM

jay o2 waster 07-17-2005 02:29 AM

The_Return 07-17-2005 07:55 AM

I ralize the difference between "old school" rap.hip-hop, and newer stuff....and I hate both.

ItsAlive75 07-17-2005 10:43 AM

The thing about techno is that almost anybody can make it on a computer in their basement... That's why there's SO many techno artists out there, cuz its so damn accessible.

Agreed...not the cheesy stuff that makes it to radio, but I still enjoy a great deal of it.

This is a tough one. Almost all of you are damning one genre all together, and then excusing 'some' of the artists that fall into that genre.

This is because of our obsession with overcategorization. People have to be able to put their finger on what a certain bands' style is called and what category they fall into. So when they decide that they don't like X band, beyond a certain extent, and X band falls into said category or genre, then ALL bands that are labled by anyone else and presented as such, they totally dismiss without giving a proper listen. I'm guilty of this too, but I think it sucks. And I'm not saying that ALL categorization is bad, but overdoing it is what ruins a lot of good things.

Take the whole 'emo' thing thats going on right now. I am so greatful that I am not in highschool for this one. Half of the people are saying "YOU! YOU FAG, YOU'RE EMO! LOOK AT THAT HAIR!"

Some people are all "(Sigh).... I'm so emo.. its great.. but.. too bad I hate myself.."

And the rest of the people I see are always pointing out things that are apparantly "emo," to the point where its rediculous

(kid a and kid b are walking down the steps at their typical suburb high school)

kid A:.... man.....
Kid B:What's up bro?
B:... my... dad just passed away..
A: aaahhh WHATEVER! FUCK! DONT GET ALL EMO ON ME, MAN!!!! AAHHHHRRRGGHH!!!! (storms off)

(ok I know that went a little far, but seriously, this emo shit is rediculous)

It's just like the term "Hair Band," used to describe a certain style of metal in the 80's

What band before this didn't have hair?

But after this term and look was established, ALL of these HORDES of bands came out and they ALL HAD TO HAVE HUGE AQUA NET PINK FUCKING HAIR. As well as the rest of the "image" to go with it.

The worst was that all of these 'post hair bands' also inhereted what was considered 'safe' to do as far as the music was concerned, which really fucked things up and oversaturated the music industry with "Trixter" and "Europe" and a ton of Motley Crue rip wannabes. Wanna-bes of the Wanna-bes. And so the scene pretty much imploded, and Grunge took over.

The same thing happened to grunge, except instead of the aquanet, it was the Doc Martens and flannels (as well as a backlash against technical and theoretical knowledge of music).

The same thing is happening RIGHT NOW with all of this "Emo" talk.

We have created this HUGE Emo bucket. We did it so we could throw a couple of bands- who didn't quite fit into any of our other buckets- down into a comfortable little container that we could stand as close or as far from as we wanted, because now we "know" that this bucket is full of "emo."

Maybe we have heard one song on MTV from a band thats at the bottom of that "emo" bucket, and it maybe we thought it FUCKING SUCKED, so we can say to hell with the whole damn thing. File it next to the "Country" and "Polka" buckets.

Or, Maybe we heard a little of what was in that Emo bucket, and we LOVED it!! We're gonna dive right in there, and with the right combination of Hot Topic and the Salvation Army, we're gonna fit in within this bucket like NEVER BEFORE!

The sad part is all of the bucket-blind musicians, scrambling to fill the bucket to the brim with their simulated TRL-safe copycat-dishonesty, until it overflows and they are all left wondering what happened.

Before jumping in, think about it. Emo is just like the whole Hair Band thing.

What music is NOT emotive?

The term is bullshit. By creating it and perpetuating its existance, we are fucking up everything that is good. Theres not a lot of room for honesty with all of these buckets around.

So If you were to ask me what is the worst genre of music created, I would have to say that every genre of music that we've created SUCKS. Because a created Genre is the downfall of honest music.

I hope one day we can stop carrying around this need to overcategorize, and become more open honest people as a whole (as far as music is concerned).

The Genre Bucket is a trap, set by ourselves and the Music Industry, and is indeed the downfall of honesty and expression in music.

Just listen to the music. Don't beleive the bucket.

ItsAlive75 07-17-2005 04:50 PM

Ok, mitch... you're a good poster, I officially declare you one.

Dearest Deposable,

Alright you dumbfuck. I'm tired of letting your ignorant posts go. First, I called you out in the "musicians you want to kick in the nads" thread because really, I couldn't believe that you were as fucking incompetent as you seemed to be.And when you responded, all you could do was make shitty attempts at humor (you aren't a funny person, and you aren't too bright either, so the next time you feel the urge to feign sarcasm, just shut the fuck up and spare the rest of the world.) and rhyme my name with 'bitch.' Nice argument there, fucktard.

When writing a somewhat joke, grammar isn't that important. But when fancy pant, cry babies, take this thread so

seriously. I guess I have too .

I meant "Hurt" not "Broken". FUCK! the internet police got me, but I am not surpised Renzor has a song named

"Broken".

Trent Renzor has 10th grade poetry, self centered songs about how bad life is and how ignorant people are. Which

all "Non-Conformist", Black hair, white kids can agree with.

only a self centered person would qoute himself on the same page. Nice one.... bitch... I mean mitch! fuck.

Do you need too know a musician too hate them? All you need too know is that they pollute TV and Radio with fake artsy fartsy bullshit. I guess only "misunderstood" intelligent people can see how great Trent Renzor is...

::Tear:: :(

Now the funny part is, you still didn't comprehend the post that I made prior to your post that's quoted here, and I could not have made that post more clear to you, you fucking moron. 'Broken' is still not a song, and you still can't read, shitbrain.

But I let that go, because I thought- since you made it clear that you are a little bitch -maybe you were on your rag or something. Anyways I said something like "Yeah, sorry man I took that post too seriously. No hard feelings, right?" instead of really telling you what a dickmouth you are, cause I'm not the type to go around on the internet trying to fuck with people (unlike you).

Now, I don’t know what has been driving you to do this, but you seem to be seeking me out on this forum and basically talking shit to and about me right and left. You need to find better ways to boost your ego. Seriously.

Now, from earlier in this thread:

You really prove that all you can do is make your hopeless attempts at humor, and that you have no comprehension skills beyond a third grade level. You really are a waste of human life as far as I am concerned.

You should also know that I am not the only one on this forum who feels this way about you.

Someone should have taught you how to spell before you learned how to shit out of your mouth, you stupid fuck.

And with this, I make my last post on the horror.com forums. It was a nice but short time here, aside from this ass. The rest of you can baby-sit from now on.

Zwoti, much respect to you, and good luck keeping the integrity of this place in-tact while this Deposable jerk-off is roaming around.

Oh yeah, one more thing, I listened to your music, Deposable. I take great pleasure in laughing my ass off at how bad you suck! Really, it sounds like you'd have to try hard to produce something that shitty! Explains all of the shit you talk, it must all be insecurity and jealousy. Maybe you did succeed at being comedic for once! Good luck with that, you have the attitude to go far with it!

Thank you,
-Mitch

P.S. bye, everybody
