Oliver Stone Making Movie About 9/11 Attacks With Nicholas Cage
Oliver Stone To Make First Major US Film About September 11
Los Angeles, California - Three-time Oscar winner Oliver Stone will direct superstar Nicholas Cage in the first major Hollywood movie about the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, producers announced. The as-yet untitled film, which will be made for Paramount Pictures, will tell the true stories of the last two men to be rescued alive from the ruins of the collapsed World Trade Center in New York. "It's an exploration of heroism in our country -- but is international at the same time in its humanity," said Stone, who won best director Academy Awards for his war epics "Born On the Fourth Of July" (1989) and 1986's "Platoon" "It's a work of collective passion, a serious meditation on what happened, and carries within a compassion that heals," Stone said in a statement issued by producers. Oscar-winning star Cage will take the lead role of New York Port Authority policeman Sergeant John McLoughlin, who was trapped along with one of his fellow officers in the mangled wreckage of one of the twin towers that crumbled after being hit by hijacked passenger jets. "I feel someone had to tell the story of the people who were in the Trade Center before and after it collapsed," said McLoughlin of the plans to make his story into a major movie. "The people involved in putting this movie together are truly making an extraordinary attempt to tell those stories and the stories of those who are no longer with us," he said. The movie will focus on the two men as well as on their rescuers and families as they battle to find out what happened to their missing loved ones in the aftermath of the attacks that left a total of around 3,000 people dead in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. The film will be produced by Double Feature Films' Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher as well as Moritz Borman, while the screenplay has been penned by Andrea Berloff. Cage won the best actor Academy Award for 1995's "Leaving Las Vegas," while stome won a third Oscar for the adapted screenplay of 1978's "Midnight Express." The announcement of the first major film of the events four years ago came a day after a string of suspected Al-Qaeda bombings on London's transport network left at least 50 people dead, marking the worst attack on the British capital since World War II. |

we already know of the tragic event, and don't need reminding....no need for this
|
I agree - I think I'll pass on this one.

if handled with the same sensitivity - this film could be the same .. maybe it would be better if more time was put between the film and the disaster - but the sooner they do it the more factual it will remain. i dunno - it's a tough one.. |

Oliver Stone...... Who else.
I´m sure it will be a tough one to watch, especially for you americans. |
I like "J.F.K" and "Wallstreet" so I will give it a chance......."J.F.K" is one of my favorite movies of all time.....
|
its going to be like the passion. a director gone mad
painful to watch |
Oliver Stone doesn't piss me off as much as Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay, but this helps increase his "terror alert level" to red.

Stone is a horses ass.
The only film he ever did that I enjoyed was Natural Born Killers. Dont even get me started on the Doors film. ALthough I dislike the idea of having to have a Hollywood spin put on the situation, especially with someone like Stone at the helm, I think this movie needs to be made. As a matter of fact it should be mandatory for every American to go and see it. But why Creeper? Glad you asked. Because, and I told my lady this the day it happened, in one week we will have forgotten all about the Trade Centers, The Pentagon, and Pennsylvania and be back to fighting amongst ourselves about how we should execute a plan of action. Should we do this, should we do that. The president lied about this, the congress knew about that. Those prisoners in GITMO have rights under the Geneva convention. Were going to Afganistan for oil, were going to Iraq for oil. Lets let the U.N. handle it. Fucken A why not we already had like 14 resolutions whats one more. We need to fight a kinder gentler war. We shouldnt be doing this alone, except for those 40 other countries. I guess if France and Germany dont help we are alone. There are WMDs there arent WMDs, CIA, MI6, the UN and on and on says they are there. We brought this on ourselves, its a conspiracy with the Bush family and the BinLaden family. AAHH fuck it. I guess I am ranting. Who gives a shit we'll all be dead in a thousand years anyway from global cooling or is it warming. |
It's just my opinion that it's a little to early for this one.

I agree. I think now is not the right time to make it. Yes, it should be made but maybe in 30 years when it is a little less painful to watch. |
NO NEED FOR THIS
NO NEED FOR THIS. THE PEOPLE WHO LOST LOVED ONE'S IN THIS WILL BE THE ONE'S WHO DON'T GO SEE IT. LET'S LET THEM MOVE ON WITH THEIR LIVES PLEASE. THE PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T LOOSE LOVED ONES WERE STILL AFFECTED AND I DON'T THINK ANY OF US WILL EVER FORGET SUCH A TRAGEDY, BUT HERE'S AN IDEA DON'T MAKE THE MOVIE ASSHOLES!!!!!!!!!!

Am i the only Oliver Stone fan here?
Loved the Doors movie...Creeper whats so wrong with it? I also enjoyed The People vs. Larry Flynt, and Platoon. I dont know i would probably watch it if it came out |
Oliver Stone is one of the most exciting directors (U-Turn, Natural Born Killers, Platoon), and wrote the awesome Scarface.
|
Okay scareface was awesome, but really why do we need to make this movie? I say we wait a little bit longer. People are actually still mournig. It's such a sad day why bring up old memories? I think by the time our kids are old they should make it!!!

...but did he direct "The People vs. Larry Flynt"..? ...and that director from "The Bourne Identity"..gonna do a movie About 9/11 Attacks too.... |

This dont look good...instead of getting a JFK kind of movie with focus on conspiracy....we are getting Hllywoods "all American hero" version..which is boring and a has been..
World trade center.....trailer |

Also I don't think the firemen, police officers, etc. who helped out and died that day would consider an "all-American hero" version to be boring. |

I don't know If I can watch this one. I saw the full trailer and I was in tears. I still have a hard time watching the fotage they show on the news from time to time. so 2 hrs would have me going through a lot of tissues. And also its too small of a picture to caputure everything that happened.

Something about this just really bothers me...
I KNOW that the world revolves around money, and people make movies to make money...BUT...Money made from someone's idea that is made into a movie seems 'honest/ decent and EARNED However, this was a tragic event...They were given the concept for this movie for free... I know that they don't plan to give all of the profits (any money made above the costs of making of the film) to the family members of the people who were killed (without whom, there would be NO movie, and NO profits anyway)... It just kinda makes me sick that people are going to make money off of this tragedy |
