Joker Suggestions
Well, after seeing Batman Begins a little over a week ago, Im psyched to see the next in the series, which is being planned.
That said, I, along with many other Bat-fans, am hoping that the next villan will be the Joker. Which bring us to the topic- Who would you like to see play the Joker? Personally, Im rooting for one of 3: 1)Mark Hammil- Anyone who hasnt seen the Batman animated series must think Im insane. But he has the voiice NAILED, and I can definatly picture him pulling off the costume/makeup/manerisims aswell. 2)Crispin Glover- Who can say he wouldnt be great at Joker? He seems like a friggin madman in everything. He also looks that part. REALLY looks the part. Check out this image I found. I dont know the story behind it...Photoshop? http://img74.echo.cx/img74/4343/gloverjoker1jm.jpg Just try to tell me he doesnt look amazing. 3) An unknown. As awesome as I think either of my other sggestions would be, I think that somewhere out there there's likely someone twice as perfect,. Any thoughts? |
I thought they ended with the joker because that goes right into the first Batman movie. >.>;;...that was a lousy Joker though...wouldn't hurt to have another I guess. They also can't seem to decide who kills Bruce's parents in the movies can they?

Batman Begins is completle seperate from the other 4 movies. The original 4 werent very faithful to the comics, so Christopher Nolan decided to start the series over himself. So, in this series, it is most definatly Joe Chill that killed Bruce's parents. Not trying to be an asshole [sorry if it came out that way] |
Isn´t there a thread in the "upcomming horror movies" forum about same subject??

I hadn't heard much about the movie other than what I'd seen on television. I'm glad there will be more movies though ^-^. I was a Catwoman fan when I was little. I have all of her comics from way back when. Well the first series anyway. I remember getting angry with the series when I was ten and moving on to the dark side of comics...manga...>.>;;. Still haven't escaped that one. I just hope this guy does more justice to Catwoman than that damn Hally Berry movie >.<. I did love Batman Returns though. Then there's Robin. I was a Robin fan too ::Sigh:: Everyone loves Dick. Why doesn't he just call himself Richard? I mean it would be...okay...now I'm rambling.

We need the boy wonder! So there damnit. I don't know why. There just needs to be a Robin. I love side kicks...so underated...And Catwoman is Batman's girl. I mean come on. You gotta have Catwoman...plus it appeals to a wider male audience...Yeah -.- I know the obvious.

joker should be hank from hell... case closed!
|
Thomas Hayen Church(playing new villian in Spiderman so might be impossible)
Ben Foster(might be to young) p.s. I hope they keep Robin and Catwoman OUT And to whoever said ''that was a lousy joker'', are you fucking kiddin? What was wrong with him? (If I'm coming off like an asshole I'm not trying to be just asking) |

No Robin, the new series is too dark for him to be portrayed in any seriousness. He was better off in the Joel Schumacher movies.
I'd also say leave Catwoman out, she was a bit silly too. The Joker would work because there was a lot of madness in his humor, and if Batman Begins is any indication, the new movies seem to be centered around that. But Crispin Glover would be an amazing Joker, he's seriously crazy in real life. Hammil was great in the cartoon, but he's a bit too old now. |

Crispin Glover would be a good choice. My vote would be for Michael Keaton. Catwoman cold work if they don't fuck it up like the other attempts. The original Catwoman Julie Newmar
was fucking hot! http://www.spiritone.com/~darren/graphics/julie12.jpg Rewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwoooowww! :p |

I think Nick Stahl http://re2.mm-c1.yimg.com/image/1134900890 or Brad Renfrohttp://us.movies1.yimg.com/movies.ya...ghostworld.jpg should play the joker. They both have the look, Stahl can do comic book villain (as seen in Sin City) and can be an evil prick (as seen in Bully), and Renfro's kinda got the look, and he was pretty good as a budding evil prick in Apt Pupil. Plus, neither one are that well known. Crispen Glover would go too weird with it. Yeah, he's seriously crazy in real life, but I don't think he's the right kind of crazy for the Joker |
I know this is gonna be a very unpopular idea...BUT...
John Leguizamo can do evil and funny pretty well......Spawn...:p ...I mean, if he could do THAT... |
Honestly, I don't think Renfro or Leguizamo are bad choices.....they both could work. I like Stahl, but he is inconsistent. I will reserve judgement until I see Sin City though.
I still think that Glover is the best choice of these by far. |
since they're probably gonna want to go with a name, I'd say Jason Lee. Sans beard he looks about right, he's a hell of an actor, not so sure about being evil, but I wouldn't doubt he could pull it off. If they go with a name, I hope they pick him (if one considers him a 'name')
or (another possibly unpopular pick) what about Ryan Gosling? http://www.oxygen.ie/cine/pics/believer.jpg He looks about right, and was great in The Believer |
I don't know if he is a good choice for this particular role, but I do think Gosling is a fine actor. In fact, I think overall probably a better pick than Stahl.
Notice how I am criticizing or agreeing with other people's picks but not offering any of my own. Because I don't have a clue...lol. |
I think my main problem with Glover would be that he wouldn't fit into it enough. I'd sit there thinking "Man, look at Crispen Glover play the Joker", whether he was doing a good job or not. They need to cast someone who you wouldn't even notice once you started watching. Take, for example, Gary Oldman. I knew he was Gordon. I'd known for a long time. But when I was watching the movie, I never once thought about Oldman. He was Gordon. Ditto for the most part with Bale as Batman. A little ways into the movie, I forgot all about Bale. I think the only person who didn't do that for me was Neeson. I don't think I'd get that with Glover.

And to whoever said Mark Hammil is too old now....I havnt actually SEEN him in anything since Star Wars, so I dont have a clue how he looks. But he can still nail the voice, he does the new cartoon, too. Besides, Nicholson wasnt that young when he did Joker, he was 52. If they started filming the new Batman next year, Hamill would be 55. Not that much difference. PS- If the pic. of Mark Himill on IMDB is recent, he could definatly look the part...maybe not as good as Glover, but he could still pull it off, I think. |
either jason lee or seann william scott would be my choices.

I think John Leguizamo is an amazing actor when he has a serious role. |

John Leguizamo and Sean William Scott are great choices but there is the point that STE made,
If Leguizamo was doing it you'd notice the hell out of him I don't think he's that good of a character actor. Oldman and Bale became their characters just like they did in The Professional,American Psycho,The Machinist,Dracula ect. ect. On the other hand with Scott and Leguizamo they are fine actors but I don't think they can blend in and actually become the Joker, I personally know that I'd think to myself ''cool Stifler's playing the Joker''. |

But Sean William Scott would be a terrible joker. |
I actually heard that Crispin Glover was under consideration fo the role. I think he'd be a perfect Joker. They can stop looking.
|
Have you guys sen that video of Crispin Glover completely out of his mind on Letterman?

I was really just going by ability to look good in the make-up which I think he would, that's why I picked Thomas Hayden Church I think he'd look the part in full make-up. |

If you've seen the Sideways commercials he's the guy with his nose tapped. |

I only go by sitcoms, that's the way I tell people. |

As for the 'noticing that it's him' part...I could barely even BELIEVE that it was Leguizamo in 'Spawn'...So...He just might be able to pull it off... But...Maybe he'd make a better 'Riddler':) |
Quote:
I kinda suspect that that might be because he had on a body suit and full make-up which made him half bald and 200 pounds overwieght. |

Quote:
My point was..He'd also be pretty heavily 'made-up' for a Joker role... |
Quote:
I guess you're right, if you put full facial make-up and a bright suit on someone who's not really all that well known he could blend into a role. |
