Flavored Oatmeals

Ever since I was a kid, I have loved a nice bowl of flavored oatmeal in the morning (particularly a cold morning). Oatmeal in its raw state is gruesome, pasty, vile. But throw in some raisins or spice or a little of this and that, and it's really not bad. My favorite is Maple. OMG! That's a good flavor.

So, come on, tell me youse favourites you spamtrolls

I've had it with maple syrup, honey, nuttella, jam and probably more.

Quaker Supreme Cinnamon Pecan

I prefer the fruit flavored oatmeals over the spice flavored ones...Strawberry is my favorite...

when i was a kid we used to get the packets - where you added boiling water - instand oatmeal ...

there was an apple and brown sugar one that was good ..

(with some milk on it of course)

Actually, Wicked Lady won't eat THOSE either...Of course, I'm not too crazy about them myself...BUT, the Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies I can handle every now and then...OH and the chocolate oatmeal no-bake cookies, we ALL love those...

Gren the cake 06-10-2005 01:26 PM

my fav is blueberry, except the fact that the fruits usually arent even real

and adding in ur own just isnt the same. then again, i always added in fresh, maybe i should try reconstituting dried.....?

filmmaker2 06-10-2005 01:30 PM

I think some of thos blueberries are made out of starch and gelatin with some food coloring and artificial flavors. Which is not to say that they're bad.

Heck did you ever have those weird imitation lobster tails? They're fish that's been poured into a mold of a lobster tail and sprayed with some reddish coloring...sounds effed up, but they're okay!

Gren the cake 06-10-2005 01:55 PM

lol

ive had imitation crab, which is just fish so whatever. but imitation lobster tail???

i remember for a while they were doing the same with shrimp! just ground up fish put into a press

which is why i dont like pringles chips anymore.. theyre not even real potato. i mean, they ARE, but as opposed to sliced potato, its mashed potato which is then pressed into chip shape.......

filmmaker2 06-10-2005 02:03 PM

I did buy some Pringles not too long ago, but it was because they were heavily discounted and in a Halloween cannister. Oh and they were colored with Halloween Orange food coloring, which made them totally bizarre. I mean they were REALLY orange. But it was worth it to look at the cannister.

they call them sea legs .... i have to admit they do a pretty decent job with those ...

they cant touch the origional but in a salad or pseudo-sushi something it's passable - way better than i suspected it would be ..

There was one a while back that was like a pecan honey roll flavor or something similar, but they stopped making it. It was good! It was like eating a.....well, a pecan honey roll. Except it was in a packet and you could prepare it whenever ya wanted.
