A Fistful of Odyssey begins production June 20th

A Fistful of Odyssey is CMX Pictures' sequel to last year's The Good, The Bad, and The Iliad. Due to the amount of copyrighted music in it, it will not be available for sale. DVDs will mostly just be given out to the cast & crew members.

We were supposed to do this earlier this year during Spring Break, but we didn't have everybody cast in time. At least it's getting done now, though

The STE 06-19-2005 08:20 PM

filming starts tomorrow...can't wait :D

AUSTIN316426808 06-20-2005 02:42 AM

Director,Writer,Actor,Producer?

all of the above?

The STE 06-22-2005 11:40 AM

yes, except I'm co-producer

there was part of the ninja fight scene that we didn't get to get filmed because we were running late, people were tired and I was badly sunburned on my forearms, but other than that the week went great. We've got the green-screen stuff to do in two weeks, and then filming is done

MisterSadistro 06-23-2005 01:29 AM

Green screen is great fun. I did a flat black screen for a friend's film no budget film thinking nothing of it until I was doing it in post. I had thick black glasses on that disappeared when I chromakeyed. Needless to say I was too lazy to redo the take so it has edges around me in it (for my whole 14 seconds in burning downtown NY LOL). Other than that, it would've been perfect. Live and learn.

so far the movie's turning out great. In three weeks we're finishing up filming, and by then I'll have enough edited already so's that the rest of post won't take any time at all. If we film early enough in the week, it might be done by August

AUSTIN316426808 06-30-2005 01:08 PM

What are the films about?

The STE 06-30-2005 02:19 PM

The Good, The Bad, and The Iliad was a 10 minutes long rendition of Homer's The Iliad, done really quickly (shooting alltogether took less than a day, spread out over the weekend), and with four people total, including cast and crew. It was done for a class, in which we were supposed to study a section of mythology, and me and my partner got The Iliad, and instead of doing a poster like everyone else, we made a movie (and subsequently got 105% cause of how awesome it was)

I later got the idea of doing a sequel based on The Odyssey. It's got more cast and crew, and more time to shoot, and a better screenplay since we aren't bogged down by stuff like project requirements.

For lack of a better explanation, it's like Monty Python writing the cliff's notes to The Odyssey (except we're probably not as funny as Monty Python)

tentative DVD cover (some of the stuff I'm putting on it hasn't been filmed yet)

Cool idea, very cool title I woulda never thought of that.

Don't sell yourself short, you might be better one day.

You're doing it for recreation,extra credit,film festival?

The STE 06-30-2005 05:34 PM

recreation/pracitce. Due to all the copywritten music (and footage from Zombi 2), I probably can't enter it in any film festivals

Have you ever tried composing?

I haven't tried it so far and I would think it's not at all easy.

MisterSadistro 07-06-2005 01:40 AM

I'm a composer for indie films (without spamming myself). Give me a hollar if you need some tunes.

I gave it a try, I suck at it. Fortunately, a couple of the guys in Odyssey can do music, so I'm set on that end

The STE 08-03-2005 04:00 PM

the movie is comPLETED! The premiere is Friday at 7pm for the cast & crew

AUSTIN316426808 08-03-2005 06:29 PM

Congrats!

Did it come out as good as you hoped?

The STE 08-03-2005 07:25 PM

not quite as good as I hoped, but about as good as I expected

The STE 08-06-2005 09:27 PM

in about an hour the trailer will be online

Thanks..

cool trailer by the way

MisterSadistro 08-07-2005 10:07 PM

Couldn't you render it smaller as a WMV or such ? This is going to take me 4 hours to download on dial up (and that's not including how long it took to find the 'download' link on the page).
'Requiem' is a great soundtrack even if it is rather repetitive. Looking forward to your trailer.
CK

The STE 08-07-2005 10:20 PM

aren't WMV's bigger?

MisterSadistro 08-08-2005 01:41 AM

Nope. It also doesn't help that you have it full screen in DVD quality. I gave up after an hour and a half with only 28% to show for it. Hope the premiere goes well.
CK

The STE 08-08-2005 09:10 AM

I'll try doing it in a different format

The STE 08-13-2005 10:54 PM

good news, everyone! I've re-rendered the trailer into a smaller format. Rather than the DVD quality, huge 72mb file it once was, it's now a 2nd rate video quality, spry 6mb
you can download it here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=29BGEAE6

but the REAL good news is the bible!
