The Toxic Avenger
 

I just bought this movie the other yesterday, still havent seen it. I remember the cartoon from a long time ago which ruled but I never saw this movie. Thoughts on the film....

low budget, cheep looking cheesy gore film, the first was watchable, the second I turned off after 10 minutes. These films are a love or hate thing.

I cant watch anything from troma. they make me sick that anyone can prodcue any piece of shit and make money off o fit. more power to them for being successful, but i find them boring and stupid.

i thought the 1st toxic avenger was good for a laugh - but for the most part a agree - trauma are amateurish garbage.

they became aware of 'cornball appeal' early on so now they use that as an excuse for their low budget poorly acted junk.

pretty much.

Well the movie looks pretty kick ass. I just viewed the trailer. I dont think I would buy any other Troma flicks though.

The cartoon was actually "toxic crusaders"...IT was ok I suppose...

The Toxic Avenger, I thought was ok in terms of ultra-violence, can't say whether or not I've seen the sequels.

Troma films are "bad" be definition, but there are some I'd see again for a laugh, not all of them completely suck.
Tromeo and Juliet was a fucking laugh!, and class of nuken high, at least part 3 "the good the bad and the subhumanoid" was pretty funny too...then again, this is going back a few years.

It has great death scenes, its funny, and it has lots of boobs... and death scenes with boobs.

Toxic Avenger Films...like all Troma films are for a "Special breed" of horror fan. Their movies are almost always completely over the top in regards to; gore, violence, gross toilet humor, titty shots, soft porn, racism (but they pick on everyone), stupidity, bad lines, bad acting, etc...BUT...they are FUN to watch....just in small doses. I like them myself, one of my favorite Troma movies is Citizen Toxie. It's not a movie (nor are any of the others that I'm aware of) that you would want to watch several times a month, and you may even be abit uncomfortable watching it with your Mom... but, for the Horror fan that likes out and out grossness and B to C-movies, you can't beat them.

Although by no means an amazing film it is very entertaining and therfore should be viewed at least once. The gore is minimal and the nudity (which really doesnt impact wether or not its good or bad) is throughout the film.

I love this film good, violent trashy fun.

they were amusing at first (Troma) but like Full Moon - they became stuck in a rut and tried to use their 'manufactured quirkiness' to excuse the shoddy production values.
I think they collapsed in on themselves ..

that kind of quirkiness is only fun when it's not so self aware ..
when its more of an entheusiastic happy accident - it works ..

when it's contrived and shallow - it seems very stale to me ..

I liked the early Full Moon pictures like Demonic Toys and Puppet Master. They basically stopped bringing them out over here which from what people have told me I'm lucky a lot of the titles haven't seen the light of day.
