The new video from System of a Down is out, BYOB. Awesome vid and song, you guys should go check it out if your a SOAD fan. The new album Mezmerize should be coming out shortly if it already hasnt

The first album was the only good thing they have to their name, but doesn't stand up to anything else that's out there. "BYOB" is terrible, so terrible it's laughable. I know SOAD is known for their random outbursts and screams, but christ in heaven, this song is so off-beat and random it's fucking annoying. The high pitched girly screams are so irritable, it makes my crotch itch in disdain.

I fucking hate SOAD.

And the CD is out where I live.

That new song is really really really bad. I like the message but its just a bad song. I think they know its a bad album. They were playing they're old songs on SNL.

Agreed the first album was the best and always will be.

But it just seems no one on this site is compitant on actually liking new music. Sure old music is good, but did all of you agree on listening to one type of music?

of course the first is always going to be the best, in the case of soad it is them in their prime beause they were less organized song wise and it was something mainstream radio hadnt seen since faith no more. And when toxicity came out there songs were more structured and layered but it was still a good cd imo, and steal this album was just abunch of bsides from the toxicity sessions, as for byob i absolutly love it. it seriously sounds like they took ten songs and threw them in a blender, crazy yet still not as good the original soad but nothing ever will be

What are you talking about? The new Meshuggah rocks, have you heard the new Strapping Young Lad album? Fucking brilliant. It's not that new music sucks, it's that the bands creating the music sucks.

@Jay, the song grew on me, and the new Mudvayne CD gets a 4/10 for me. The only good songs are the first 4, the rest make me lose interest faster than me fucking your mom for the billionth time over.

I never really liked Meshuggah, but SYL is alright. And most of the time people dont like bands because they arent all gimmicks.

THATS WHAT THEIR SUPPOSED TO FUCKING DO! Just because theres not a million dollars worth of special effects added to the video or they dont parade around with masks and jumpsuits, doesnt mean their not a good band.

Although i agree with you, most of the new stuff bands come out with sucks shit. But i do happen to like both NIN and System of a Downs new stuff. Hell you cant make a hit record every time you put a new one in circulation..

"With Teeth" isn't what I expected it to be, first album in almost 6 years, you expect it to be the best damn thing NIN would put out, especially with all the hype surrounding it...but in the end, it wasn't anything great, it was just a typical NIN album, and that's why I don't like it. Don't get me excited about something if it's only going to be mediocre.

That's just like whenever the new GNR will come out, although I'd be surprised if anybody bought that.

Yeah i understand, there was a lot of hype but it is that, mediocre. But i still respect, that at least they havent changed their music to sounding like complete shit.

And i think i will pass on the new GNR album..:o

they may be a good band - but i dont understand the point of making a video or performing live (once you're a name) if you are just going to stand there and play well.

I hate videos to begin with .. after the 2nd or 3rd year of their existence everythint that could be done was done .. they are all a big bore now. it serves to let hou have a peak at the people who are making the music and that novelty wears off pretty quick.
I always thought it was cool when there was a bit of mystery - and you didnt know who the band really was or what they looked like - and the music spoke for itself.

as far as live performances .. i enjoy a bit of showmanship - a bit of communication with the audience.
Nothing is more pointless than to watch people stand on stage .. doing their thing .. unless you're another musician and you want to see how certain things are done.

a band without a personality is like a person without a personality - even if they have something to say - they are boring.

I'd rather stay home and put the album on.

the whole 'hate the audience' thing hasnt been cool since the pistols .. and they did it in such a cartoon fashion it was fun..

bottom line, you have to give people a reason for leaving their homes and forking over the money.

i just got done listening to the BYOB song it was alright its a decent song not as good as SOAD other songs though....

that one bloke (not the lead singer, the other one) sings fairly good, but just sounds funny when he's screaming.

Some of SOAD's lyrics are very strange, and I dont think I will ever undersand them. EX:

Forest Song: " No Curcumsisions on the chair, No televisions in the air"
