Wicker Man

The Wicker Man

I just saw this movie last night for the first time and I have to say that it is easily one of the weirdest movies I ever saw. For the first 30 minutes I thought it was a musical because of all the singing and naked dancing they were doing.

I can't really decide if I liked it or not, but it was sure fucking odd. There were a few moments in the movie where I didn't really think they characters were acting logically, but that's to be expected to a certain extent.

Despite the fact that I rented it from the horror section, I wouldn't quite call it horror, more like an Occult/Suspense or something. (Hard to categorize this one.) There was basically no gore and a very minimal bodycount. It was almost more of a sociological study of pagans or something. Really weird...

I wonder what religious orientation the director is...

If you can't tell, I haven't really made up my mind about this one yet.

P.S. What the hell was with the innkeepers' daughter's naked dance of seduction in the hallway by herself? That was like the most bizarre scene I've ever seen in my life!

Yeah, this movie is quite the experience. I watched this for the first about five years ago, I think. It was recommended to me. Anyway, I loved it. I actually liked it a lot more than I expected to. I found it fascinating. And some of it I just found outright funny.

Wickerman? he was a douchebag, but he did give me a funny quote for my sig. OH! you meant the movie....

Never saw it, but AMCs "100 scariesat movie moments" completely blew the ending...

Dancing naked chicks eh? I dont think my wife would be very interested...

i liked it ..

rod stewarts (and Peter Sellers) ex wife Britt Ekland doing a pagan dance naked .. worth the price of the admission.

Edward Wodward was great too ... a devout religious man watching his whole world spinning away from him.

i love 'conspiracy' type horror films .. this is one of the best.

One word aptly describes The Wickerman: Brillant!
Agreed, it is extremly weird and you don't - i know i didn't - really appreciate it the first time you watch it but the second time: HOLY FUCK, it was good. I was cheering so much as he was burning up in the Wickerman...
And what about old Chris Lee dancing? Pure class.
Brillant movie.

Quite possibly. Do you know his orientation? Is he a pagan, a Christian, a witch? Any idea? I'm really curious about this...

Didn't you admire how strange and off-beat it was?

LOL. That pretty much sums it up for me as well. A guy I work with who is into the same types of movies I am told me to check it out. He said he wasn't sure if I'd like it, but that it would definitely be something I'd never forget! I do like The Wicker Man, and I hope this proposed remake by Nicholas Cage doesn't suck balls!

Yeah, Wicker Man was a pretty cool little film. Britt Ekland's naked dance number was the part I remember best. Got a kick out of the "naked" kids around the fire where they hold the camera on them too long and you can totally see the body suits they're wearing.

LMAO! Yeah the whole naked dance of seduction is even MORE UNCOMFORTABLE when you have to watch this movie in a FILM CLASS ;) People were either like...WTF? Or just started laughing;)
