I'm on holidays for 1 week,
Day-um !

I'm going to rest a bit, build shelves in the storage area of the basement, get organized, and catch up on some movies.
(i get one week extra otherwise we'd be hanging as a family)

anyone who wants to help with any of these things .. gets free beer and movies.

i get 4 weeks off - she gets 3 .. so this is the one where i get shit done.

I'll have to give daily updates.

Monday:

Took it easy .. as i promised myself i would. I still got about 8 calls from work - hope that slows down.

Got some of the shelf framing done in the basement. (this is rough storage shelving to house all the electronics, misc junk.
I should finish one wall tomorrow, and the other on Wednesday.

I also watched a couple of movies .. and got to walk my kid to school which was nice. (normally i have to take him to the daycare where he goes to school by bus - because we leave early for work)

only one mishap .. i was putting the circular saw down after a cut - and it was still spinning. Despite the blade guard it still managed to suck the electrical cord and plug of my cordless drill (the charger part) right up and around the blade. Took me 1/2 hour to free it up.

So - I've assessed that i will need more wood .. get that tomorrow.
I'd like to finish so that I'm free Thursday .. i'll make a trip to the asian mall and try to grab a cheap copy of Dark Water for Newb.

what is this Bumfights thing ? i've seen it mentioned here before but havent a clue what it is ??!!

Not really sure myself...I thing its bums...er...a..fighting.

Here is a review I found...it sounds like a Jackass kinda show.


At just under one hour long, “Bumfights” is a myriad of hate, ego and pain: sequences filmed by the cast and crew on home video and shoved together with no significant structure. What the crew filmed is at times nasty and repulsive and, at others, morally wrong. The sequences, you see, have a bum/tramp theme. The crew pays a couple of bums to do things that a sane, ordinary and relatively well-off person wouldn’t do. Things like extracting your own teeth, setting your hair on fire and smashing the shit out of your fellow man. When it isn’t about the two main bums “bumming” around, then it’s an assortment of bored teenagers punching each other, being egged on by their mates and stomping on their heads. Imagine a lukewarm “Faces of Death,” or a die hard “Jackass” TV series. Imagine it being spiteful and rarely funny. Imagine a fusion of tired and bad ideas presented in a vulgar fashion.

Day 2 :


Ran out and spent $80 on lumber (2" X 4") and woodscrews.

200 10 X 3 1/2 for those of you keeping score.

So i finished one wall, moved the junk from the other wall onto the shelves freeing up the next wall which I'll tackle tomorrow.
Watched a movie ... thats pretty much it.

Still on schedule. Tomorrow I expect to finish the last 2 smaller walls freeing up my Thurs/Fri. I hope.

wish me luck ... or not.

Day 3

Shit this week is flying by.

Finished the 2nd wall ..and almost finished the 3rd ... but i need 6 more boards.

I'll get them tomorrow and finish in 30 min.

And i'm keeping my son out of daycare so we can hang out.

all i need to do now is pick out a couple of movies to watch tonight.
Kind of in the mood for Predator 2 after talking about it ..

day 4

holiday almost over .. fastest one i can EVER remember.
Last shelf is built, all the junk loaded on it .. my living room is now clear of all of the spare laserdisc, and stereo equipment. etc.

Hung out with my kid .. watched some land of the lost ..
just got in from beach volleyball.

it was FUCKING FREEZING !!!!

i had to wear shoes and socks - and a shirt, a sweater and a jacket .. i could barely move.

shoulder hurts like a bitch - i wont be able to sleep tonight.


one more day to go :(

i'm mack to work .. and i'm more tired - less rested than when i left.

but i did get the shelving done .. and i sorted out my VHS tapes (for the second time) and pared out all of my redundant copies ..

came up with a couple hundred.

so i'm glad i accomplished everything - i just with i had another week to relax !
