He guys im almost done downloading underworld, as it didnt exactly lure me into theaters, and wanted to know what you guys thought about it. I know its actually more of an action movie, but its got vamps and wolfs in it so....


Any opinions???

It seemed like a decent concept, but the story was loose and the acting was porno-quality at best. It seemed like the actors were just reading from Q Cards, and there wasn't much else they could do.

The graphics are alright, and the idea is a good one. But they just couldn't pull it together.

Total, I give this movie 5 outta 10, being not incredibly horrible, but nothing to talk about.

I'll let you know what I think of it as soon as I see it.

UGh what a dissapointment! Mix The Crow with The Matrix and you have the setting, time, look, wardrobe, and mood of the entire movie. The acting is definatly subpar. The CGI is pretty lame and right when any action is about to happen they pan out or switch to another scene. Totally lame. Spoiler* The ending was predictible and lame as well. After the uber powerfull guy spends like 5 mins transforming into a vampire/werewolf crossbreed he shows up looking THE EXACT SAME:eek: :confused: all this cg animation and it turns out hes just an actor in make up. And the sword manuver she pulls at the end, totally predictible. Do yourself a favour avenger and save yourself 2 hours of your life.

Movies with vamps are my favorit , I tryed to love it but it just was not as good as i thought it would be. now they need to come up with another vamp movie and do it better!!!

but underworld was done with 80% practical effects. Theres hardly and Cg in that movie compared to oh say blade 2. Thats why I respect it. They could have gone the incredibly gay route of American Werewolf in Paris and had the wolfs be CG. But they werent. All that shit you see is foam rubber. They did that movie oldschool. For instance when she jumps off the roof at the beginning they had her on wires and they had her jump off the actual roof and then they stopped her about 10 above the gound. Then they had her get up on top of a latter and jump off and land. Use the shot of her falling -cut to- her landing and viola- Totally oldschool technique.


I persoanlly think this movie couldve had mad potential, but it fell short. And yeah it did kinda suck but personally I respect it because of how it was shot.

I was not hyped up about this movie so I was not disappointed when I saw it tonight.. I dont care for matrix type movies.. BUT it was not all that bad IMO. More action than horror, but I already knew this before watching it. I do look forward to future releases though.. I am more interested into the story, guess it will be a action soap to me.. Ha Ha !!

It's OK "Dog Soldier is way better.

dog soldiers owns just about every horror movie ive seen in the last 5 years.

Way better, I kept waiting for Neo to pop out at some point. The acting was bad, if I had to watch the lead character kick or throw one more door open I was going to vomit. The guy transforms into the same guy only with darker skin. What the??? the vampyre were getting asses beat by werewolves, way way 2 much gunplay, I wanted to see fangs and claws and lots of blood. They should have made the movie take place 200 years ago, no guns all hand to hand weapons. Would have made it more interesting. This movie has nothing on Dog Soldiers for sure, good idea, good storyline, poorly executed. I give it 1 and a half stars. Good for a rental, not worth watching again, aint no way in hell I would buy it. Unless I had a leather fetish.

This movie was totally not scary. But maybe that's because it's an ACTION MOVIE!!!

Oh, I agree with you, "Underworld" sucks compared to "Dog Soldiers". However comparing "Underworld" to "Dog Soldiers" is like comparing apples to hand granades.

For starters "Dog Soldiers" is a good old fashion low budget werewolf horror flick. Lots of blood and gore. "Oh look sausages!"

Now "Underworld" on the other hand is a huge budget Hollywood action film. (ie not horror) In that sense yes "Underworld" is OK. nothing to stand up and shout about, but hell it is not as bad as "DarkWolf" or "Werewolf" either.

Than again I am the dumbass that compared "Underworld to "Dog Soldiers to begin with. So I have posted this to clear things up, I hope this clarifies my original post.

I totally agree. LOL. The movie should not be in he horror genre at all. Hmmm... there's a little bit of drama but you can't really put your finger on it coz of the bad acting...

I didnt think it to be anything else, all horror has some amount of action in it, Dog Soldiers did, and I am not trying to compare the 2 but even as an action film, this movie masturbated sea lions. I just didnt care for it.

On a 1-10 scale it scores a solid C-. The acting in this one was horrable, Scott Speedman was drift wood. The concept and some of the effects were decent but I need a little more than that. The editing was probably the worst part, anyone else feel like this movie was a bunch of room entrancesand exits? The whole movie was someone walking into a room with 2 other people saying something and leaving. It's watchable but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

I'm astonished at all this hate. Horror movie or not, I totally loved it guys. It's the history that clenched it. Seeing as how I was rooting for the Lychans to begin with, and it turns out that the vamps started the war, it couldn't have turned out better. Also, the CG was kept to a minimum as someone pointed out and I'm happy for it. Can't wait to see what Markus will do in the sequel.

Acting-wise, Kate Beckinsale will also be in The Aviator. And if you don't like Kate Beckinsale, don't worry. Nobody makes bad actors seem GREAT, like Martin "God" Scorsese.

great movie, but my god! the wearwolves!? no hair?! i have more hair on my balls then those bastards had thats not right, + the abomination thingy was alittle fucked...i was expecting something cool looking but it was more like a black version of the hulk

I thought they could have did a better job on that too.. and man they could have made him whop some ass faster as well... I guess they wanted to make him look more vampirish.. Cool claws though.. I do look forward to the other underworld movies..

me to ritualistic...i just hope they kill off the abomination in the opening scene of part two.... wishfull thinking...

Come on guys, it was his first few minutes as a vampire/werewolf hybrid. Not to mention that he's the first. I'm sure he will discover some new whip-ass powers in the future. I thought he looked pretty cool. Hopefully that was just one of his forms though. I'm hoping he can do the full-blown werewolf transformation too. Maybe they will make him hairy enough for you Moon.

im verry picky about vampires and wearwolves, spend to much time reading up on both and i look and live a little to much like vamp. his ass whooping powers werent my biggest problem it was the look of the thing, he shouldnt just be a black hulk, he should be so much more.

Like I said in my last post, maybe he will get cooler. He'll have to get cooler if they want to make the sequel as good.

I liked Underworld a lot... it was a very good movie and there making a sequal for it too, great. Marcus will be in it.

Beckinsale is the only thing that really kept me entertained through this movie, it's just like all the other newer movies they are coming out with today so nothing caught my attention. CGI is very uninspiring when it's always used.

When I first heard the plot synopsis of this film, I was so excited. It sounded like it would be a superb movie and such an interesting idea. Werewolved pitted against vampires with a Romeo and Juliet-esque love story thrown in. I had been waiting for a film like this...

But at the release time, I was broke. And I stayed broke (well, still am) and was unable to attend a movie theatre screening of Underworld. Dsiappointed but determined I waited the long months for it to hit video. I didn't rent it, though. I went striaght out and bought it. DVD-style! I figured I'd love it and the special features would be worth the extra cash.

Oh man, what the hell what I thinking? What a terrible, pathetic, shoddy excuse for cinema! It's not a movie, it's a slow-moving, depressing attempt at an artistic faux-documentary of the morbid lives of the bloodsuckers and the furbearers! Avoid at all costs!

Hollywood will just copy what's popular. Why they haven't learnt that it very rarely works after all these years I'll never know. The Matrix has a lot to answer for!
