ok now im at school with my friends and this girl buts in and says "Slipknot sucks" because i was wearing a t-shirt with them on it. So i ask "have you ever heard any of their songs" she says "no" so i say "Well your not just heavy enough for it". Then she says "i listen to heavy music" and i say "like what" she says "Linkin Park" WHAT THE HELL??????
Now i was sitting down at lunch today aswell and this kid comes up to me and says "I like slipknot that song Duality is hella sick" so i ask " Isn't surfacing good to" he says "What?". At this point i knew he wasn't a true fan so i told him to "Fuck off"

i respect Slipknot, but it's not my style

I hate when R&B singers are referred to as "artists".

The only time I get pissed off about music is when people actually put ME down, personally for liking a specific band or type of music. I don't care if people think a band I like sucks, as long as they don't attack me for liking them, and constantly say stupid stuff about it. Like one of my ex boyfriends...he always made fun of me because of the music I liked. We agreed on a few bands, but that was it. He was more into rock & roll while I love metal. And there was a guy online who saw my profile on a site once and sent me a message, telling me what a loser I was just because of the bands I had on my profile. :rolleyes:
I do get pissed off when they play country music at work though. :mad: Country=worst music on the planet, in my opinion. I've gotten to where I know which days they play the country music so I take something good to listen to on those days, because it drives me crazy to listen to it. If those country people can get record deals, my cat should be rich & famous right now for his singing, because his voice sounds ALOT better. :p

You're just as much as a dusch then. People have their own tastes. Just cause some dumb chick buts in on you and says they suck, i suppose thats a good reason to say something only because she doesn't know what shes talking about. But by the actual comments you have made here you are just as much as a retarded than they MIGHT have been. People are going to ignorant no matter what.. it's always going to be around. Either try to help them "oh you've never heard any of their tracks? I'll make you a cd and then you can tell much how much you hate them" or blow it off. By the way...narrow minded people piss me off about music.

The people who put other people down for liking a certain type of music or somehow expressing their own opinion. People think im a "Goth" but i listen to more music then one genre and i respect all aspects of music. Which is basically the music over music videos, silly gimmicks, and everything that just makes music suck balls..

piss me off isnt the right phrase but i often get frustrated or dissapointed with people who have a very narrow scope of what's acceptable music.

it's common with young people... i remember when i was 'sort of' the same way - but thank god i have a diverse array of friends therefore broader influences.

one friend introduced me to early Queen,
another to Genesis and other british prog-rock
I found Punk on my own when i bought a used copy of the Sex Pistols Bollocks album (and it blew my socks off)

i was into electronic (tangerine dream - synergy)

i got exposure to burt bacharach via my parents via cover versions done by herb alpert, etc ..

I guess i was always open to most things ... but the older i get the longer i've been exposed to music so i find i have more appreciation for the 'origionals' and less for the copycats.

i think music for the most part sucks today ... not the reasons MY parents gave - quite the opposite. I thinkmost of it is pussy-rock ..

but even now i still check everything out ... i'm not dead yet ...

one word of advice to the younger guys .. learn your roots ... check out the influences of the guys you like - and the guys who influenced the influences .. you'll be suprised to see where the trail leads.
