Consistancy...
I just feel like posting an actual thread about movies...hope to get a discussion goin' on.
BEFORE I do, I just wanna say that right now, I think this place is really cool...and I don't mean without certain posters, just without all the drama...I mean, I admit fault on my part in some recent events, and in turn wanna throw out a forum-wide apology. Y'know what? It's really nice when there's no bullshit goin' on up in here. I hope it lasts... OK, onto the thread topic: Movie series with more than one installment. Horror, comedy, action, whatever you like... What series of movies have you guys seen that you have found the sequels to be of consistant quality. eg: Which film series have you enjoyed, beginning to end, and why? I have a few, but I will start off with: X-men 1 & 2. Despite the comic-geek issues with every comic based film in existence changing details/histories, I think that the x-men movies have thus far done a VERY good job. The quality was still there during the second, the characters were done brilliantly IMO (well, especially wolverine and nightcrawler), the effects only got better, and the second one felt a LOT more like the comic...I am personally very much looking foward to the third film, and hope they don't fuck it up. |
The Godfather 1 & 2 ....3 wasn't quite as good
Back To The Future trilogy---good clean fun Lord of the Rings trilogy---I still can't understand how some people hate this. Austin Powers trilogy---c'mon...it was funny. |
Well, I'll keep it in the realm of geek and say the Spider-Man movies have been consistently good. Also, without straying too far from its comic book predecessor.

Agreed on most of those...and yeah, the back to the future trilogy was excellent...
I guess I could safely say the BURTON batman movies? !!!Indiana Jones trilogy!!! |
OK, and I know it's yet another incomplete series, but
The Cameron era terminator films (1 & 2)...both were excellent, and two of my favourite films. #2 had everything a sequel should. Also, Gremlins. I LOVED the first one...The second one WAS a little more kiddy and had a bit more comedy vibe goin' on, but it was enjoyable all the same. |
austin powers is the rare exception that actually progressively got better with each film ..

T3 was better than expected, and interesting, but it DID fall short on SOME undefinable aspect. Could just be my personal preference.
As for austin powers, I liked all 3, but...I think the third one wore a tad thin. Sam, admittedly, IJ2 is now my least favourite, but still enjoyed it - probably a little more as a child than now (actually, I think it was the first one I ever saw, and my "favourite" for a while), but all the same, the 3rd film bought it up to standard, and alltogether, it'd make for a cool box-set, I mean, as a trilogy, I'm down with it. |

Anyway, back to the topic, film series that I feel have been consistently good......the Evil Dead films, of course (who didn't know I would say that...lol). I thought they were all three great fun, and each have their own unique feel. I also agree with X-Men, Spiderman and Lord of the Rings. |
WHAT?!?!?
Gotta represent Night, Dawn and Day man. Also Nightmare on Elmstreet 1-3 |
Godfather 1 & 2.....3 was decent

those for sure.. i want to say the evil deads too because i liked all 3, but AOD really doesnt fit in with the 1st two. and as far as star wars goes .. the 1st 2 were brilliant, but by the 3rd one Lucas realized that he could make more $$$ by making a big advertisement for toys. i didnt like it anywhere near as much.. fucking ewoks |
godfather, the orginal star wars trilogy are classic. Back to the future as well.
Scream sucked ass. |

male lead had a lot of charisma..) maybe i saw this film in such a god light because of 2 other reasons as well .. 1) my expectations were incredibly low 2) i had just seen the miserable piece of shit Matrix 2 (whatever it was called) and T3 looked like a masterpiece compared to that corn filled land mine .. |

I do agree that the one scene kicked ass. The effects really were incredible. But the terminator in this one just seemed almost harmless compared to the previous two....LOL.... But I see your point...;) |
